34 Put on a Show

Now, I know I'm low on blood, can barely stand, and am seriously at death's door right now, but that's beside the point. I've got to stop whoever is rigging this tournament! If they tried to kill me, they probably won't stop at just that.

There is a downside though. I've now shown I can teleport without a machine, and once this gets out it will be a huge problem for me. I can't worry about that right now though. Since I'm, y'know, still alive, I will probably be targeted for the rest of the tournament.

Also, on top of that, I can't dodge those attacks they send at me. They happen before I can feel or see anything and I have no idea how they do it.

I make it just in time, thanks to teleportation, to hear what is going on for the next round. Even though the competition is still going on, apparently they can't cancel it, so the security has just increased a lot.

I hear that the next part of the competition will be a "talent show" of sorts. Showing what you can do with your magic that other people can't do, to show your innovation. It's pretty smart. I may be weakened, but even I can do something here. After this round, the competition will be down to six teams, and after the next round, there will only be three. After that, the last round will determine the winner.

That means that my teammate and I only have to make it through a few more rounds after this. Well, this is gonna suck.

Administration POV:

"What do you mean Jess Heart is back? Wasn't she stabbed? She teleported here after she woke up? There are no teleportation machines anywhere around here! They are too expensive for anyone but government officials or rich people to get, and even then they are rare!"

"That's the thing sir, she didn't use a machine, somehow she teleported without one, in a weakened state too. I don't know why she still wants to compete, but she is back in the game..."

"Interesting, well I'll accept it."

"What? In all due respect, she is too injured to participate! She has lost too much blood!"

"She knew the risks when she came here, and even revealed she can do something people have been attempting for a hundred years to do. There's got to be a reason."

"Yes sir..."

Jess' POV:

I was a bit worried that they wouldn't let me participate after all the things that happened, but it seems I've been given the green light... well let's do this!

I tried to talk to Sasha about what we should do, but she's completely out of it. I did the same thing I did to myself, Jane, and Chris, and removed the spell keeping her from sleeping, but that won't help much.

Whatever I can think of something... I got it!!!

"After that wonderful performance by the fourth place of last round, up next is Jess Heart, back after what happened earlier today, and Sasha Lano. It will be interesting to see what this duo does!"

After we are given the sign to start, I teleport myself to the front of the stage, a couple of meters off the ground, and float there dressed up like a magician. Full-on top hat, suit, and I even have a pigeon plush in the hat! Yeah, I know it's cheesy, but I want to put on a show!

AHH!! This is so scary! So many people watching and I look silly! I wave my hands and make a platform to stand on out of boxes and stuff on the stage, and land on it.

"Well, let's do this..." I whisper under my breath pulling off my top hat. You see, before all this started, I put a 'Singularity' into my hat and put a bunch of stuff inside it. That way I could pull comically large stuff out of my hat.

I started off with a couple of things like boxes and stuff, much bigger than the hat obviously. Then I decided to step it up a little and made lightning come out of the hat. Remember that lightning attack I absorbed into the 'Singularity' before? Yeah, it's that.

I do a couple of other things, then decide to bring the show to its close. I ask for Sasha to come out for her star moment and ask her to stand in the center of the stage. I put a sheet over her and say that in the count of three she will disappear.

"THREE! TWO! ONE!"

I then use the technique I used to hide my house from the reporters a while back and make everything pass through the spot she was at, light, matter, etc. It all goes through like she isn't there, creating the illusion that she has disappeared. I then throw the sheet up to hide where she is and bring her back into view. When the sheet hit the ground, she's there like nothing has happened, but now a cat.

I pick her up and bow. We walk off the stage and the show is over. I don't know if the audience's quietness is a good thing or not...

A few seconds later, and everyone starts applauding what we have done. Huh, guess we made an impact. Well, that's good! We will probably make it to the next round then! I hope so at least...
