Onto the Next Stop

Okay... so some crazy stuff has happened. It almost feels like half a year has passed for some reason. Only been a moment though.

Well, I guess that kind of stuff happens when you are preoccupied with stuff like the fate of the world. Ugh, why can't I just be normal?

I mean sure, I could just ignore this Shift stuff and move on with my life, that would probably be the most logical option, but some part of me really wants to get to the bottom of what has happened to me.

Well, I guess that I am finally making some progress in finding out what happened. I don't think I'll be able to reverse the Shift, in fact from the looks of it the damage is already done.

It's just like when something has rusted; you can remove the rust, and grind down the rough texture, but you can never get back the metal that was lost by the oxidation.

Well back to what's happening, William, Sophia, and I have all left the restaurant and all that craziness. I think all of us are done with the craziness today, so we all go our separate ways.

Sophia did try to get Willaim to walk me home for some reason. Well, I struck that down by pointing out the fact that I can teleport home.

For some reason, she looked like I made some mistake; it was like she was trying to help me with something, but I don't really know what though. Well, not much you can do.

"Welcome home Jess. How was your time with friends?"

"It was fine Mom. What are you doing home so early, shouldn't you be at work?"

"That was supposed to be the case, but something happened at the office, I think a pipe broke loose and a lot of gasses were released into the building. Until the place is aired out, and the piping is fixed, I'll be working from home."

"That sounds like a lotta fun."

She flicks me on the head saying, "Oh, be quiet."

Seems like Mom will be home for a while. Well, that is a weird occurrence, but I guess that can just be chalked up to bad luck and totally not a bad omen. I don't believe in superstition anyways.

Despite the fact that magic exists, that doesn't believe that things like bad omens exist. I mean in a way those two things are different concepts. Magic is control of something that is past our understanding of science, and bad omens are superstition rooted in our primitive association of two bad things happening simultaneously.

I don't know, but the omen thing just seems unrealistic to me. Of course, so did magic until the Shift and all.

Well anyway, I guess I have to prepare for the whole "saving the country" thing. I still do wonder why the royal family is trusting a teen with the fate of the country, but it isn't like I'm not benefiting from this deal.

I mean sure the anxiety is going to keep me up at night, and I won't get good sleep for a while, but those are small things.

Well, time to work on my magic. I wonder when the princess is going to notify me about when and where my protection services will be needed.

*Ding*

Well look at that. The message says that the first conference is in… 3 days! Don't these types of things normally take a while to plan? I guess public officials can use international teleportation that is reserved for things like this, but still.

I mean teleportation is expensive (except in my case) so these public officials must be really desperate to solve these tensions. Well I guess going to war in a world full of destructive magic is normally a bad idea.

At least we don't have to worry about nuclear fallout… I think.

Anyway, the location is in code, probably just in case our communication is compromised or something — I've always wanted to say that. It basically says, "1774 87 97 108 116 101 114"

Now I don't know exactly why the code is so obvious and easy to decrypt, but it is. I mean 1774 stays the same and the other numbers become their letters in ASCII, aka 1774 Walter.

It must be talking about 1774 Walter Road. Is there a foreign embassy there or something? Well, I guess I know where to go now.

Time to think of some ways to make booby traps that won't go off when the public officials are there, but will go off when unknown invaders try to interrupt peace talks… yay.

I mean the most logical answer would to just be there during the peace talks so I can set up the booby traps once they enter the factory, and then get rid of them once they get ready to leave, I guess I can do that.

According to the message I received, the peace talk is happening at 4:20 P.M. If I go there right now, I should be able to teleport there later. Then I can just teleport there as soon as school ends.

That seems like the safest bet.

Okay, and it's been three days. Now that the time has come, I need to prepare for the talks to happen, set up extremely complicated and undetectable body traps, hopefully catch one assassin alive, and deliver them to the princess of the country.

Walk in the park.

I'm gonna use the infinite hallway trick to trap the assassins, and if they get past that I'll have a bubble set up that separates the space on the inside from the outside, like the one I used to protect my house when the paparazzi came that one time.

Even if they get past THAT, I set up some of the MP Drain Mk.3's as traps to absorb their MP when they step on them. This will weaken them enough that they could be beaten by a child… hopefully. I cranked those things up to 200, their drain rate is fast enough to kill the normal person.

Normally there is a safe guard in place so that can't happen, but I had these ones tailor made for this situation. I wasn't doing nothing these past three days.

Well, time to see if my preparations were worth it, or if I'll be executed for failing to protect foreign diplomats and country representatives.

Sorry for not uploading, but I am in fact not dead.
