39 Last Show of the Tournament

The last part of the tournament is starting soon. Sasha and I have been preparing for this. Like I said, we probably won't win, but we can try nonetheless. Stuff like this comes down to whom the crowd chooses, which, on top of performance, can be based on bias, money, or really anything. Heck, how the person looks can determine it.

"It is time for the last round of the tournament to begin. Going on first is the team that eliminated the most people in the previous round. It seems that this goes to the team of Jess Heart and Sasha Lano!"

Well, I guess I should have expected that.

This part of the competition is all about appealing to the audience, and there are three things I can think of to get their attention: comedy, action, and emotion.

By using comedy, we can gain their attention by raising their moods. Action can be fun to watch and entertaining. Finally, by pulling on their heartstrings, we can make them easily vote for us.

Now comedy is probably out the window, this is a serious competition, they didn't come here to laugh, and using comedy won't make them take us seriously. I don't see any way we can pull on their heartstrings, there isn't much that we've gone through to do something like that. Unless you count the attempted murder and kidnapping, but that feels wrong to use, so...

Of course all that leaves is action, we go first, which means we will easily stay in the crowd's memory. A human naturally remembers the first and last thing they see, so we can abuse that and give them a show.

The concept is that using Gravity magic, I can make an obstacle course and attack at the same time, during that the course will change and shift. Sasha's job is to make it to the end, which will be a huge platform I'm floating at the top of the obstacle course.

We've already planned everything, and although there will be a little improvisation, I believe that we can do it.

To start it off, I make a huge platform from the ground by pulling some ground up using gravity. Now I compress it, sadly gravity does naturally make a sphere, as seen by planets and stars, however it works. I've seen cats balance on worse, and this is a Cat Beastman, so we'll be fine... I hope, at least.

Second, I start to pull the ground up to the sphere, making sure to keep them in big chunks, enough to jump on. By the way, the platform to end on is a good seventy-five meters in the sky. I'm seriously worried about Sasha's safety, but if she falls, I can easily slow her down.

She slowly makes her way up, jumping from one platform to the other. Why doesn't she just stay on one and use it as an elevator to the top, you ask? Because they are all spinning and going at different speeds, crashing into one another.

This is so the course will look even more difficult and create a sense of tension. Of course, it really is dangerous, it doesn't just create the feeling that it is. Saying how well Sasha is doing, she would make a great stunt double or something. She is using her magic to help too.

I even saw her cut up chunks of ground in her way with her claws, it's pretty impressive. Well, she makes her way up, and I constantly try to keep her from reaching the top, without actually preventing her from reaching the top of course, that would destroy the point.

This is actually taking a lot outta me, but this is the last part of the competition, so I don't need to conserve MP like before. I can use as much as I want, without using all of it, of course. This isn't like a video game where if your MP bar reaches zero, you can just wait until it goes back up.

Nope, if you reach zero, you will pass out and lose all energy, people have even died from over exerting themselves.

Well, I'm not going to manage to go that far with a trick like this, but it's still tiring. If I could make a comparison, holding a kilogram weight isn't that heavy, but holding it in front of you without dropping it with your arms straight gets really hard after time. It's the same thing.

Now, Sasha finally makes it to the top platform, seventy-five meters in the air. It took a while because, y'know, that's extremely high, but still. She's too high for me to talk to her, but we made a plan to get down beforehand.

I send the signal, which is just me waving, and she hopped off the platform, falling down to the ground. When she starts getting closer, I slow down her fall enough that she won't get hurt, and before she hits the ground, I slow it down even more gradually.

She hits the ground softly and we both bow towards the crowd. Now, how am I going to deal with all the floating rocks in the air... I did not think of this. Well I guess I'll just float them back to the ground.

After I "clean up" I head to the waiting area as another team goes on. The next team to go on is the royal twins. Of course, no one knows that they are royalty of Sagittarius, but that's irrelevant. If you didn't catch on by now, all the Kingdoms are named after star constellations. Why? I honestly have no idea.

It is cool though, Kingdoms like Ursa and Aquarius exist. Scorpius and Capricornus too. There are obviously others too, but that isn't important right now.

What is important is how good the royalty are doing. Using ice they create a huge block and then use Gravity magic to carve, and by carve I mean compress, it into the shape of this stadium, and the thing is so accurate I can see the people! It looks exactly like the real thing!

Well, I guess it makes sense that the royals would be great with magic, they are also Elves, which are a lot better at magic than a lot of other races. Fun fact, royal Elves actually don't have blue eyes like the rest of us, they have green eyes. Well, the more you know.

Suddenly, the ice starts turning red, and both the royal twins fall to the ground. Wait, why them! I never told anyone who they are, don't tell me the person who attacked me is still here! They aren't for the royals, why would they go after me, then!

Wait, the only people who stand to benefit from this are the Dark Elf group, right?!? NO! It's still too soon to jump to conclusions! After all, they could just be mad that they were eliminated, whoever they are!

Why is this so complicated! I've gotta help those two, I can't let royalty die! Well I can't let anyone die technically, but you know what I mean! I run over and close the wounds. I do it by using Gravity to pull the blood vessels together and closing the skin. It will only work while I'm using my magic, and I'm already tired, but this will hold until they get to a safer place.

How do these sneaky people keep attacking without anyone seeing it!
