Be my girlfriend

After having her first Intravenous infusion, Yara sauntered to the lobby to rest. Her regular chemotherapy always drained her energy to maintain her balance and posture. The bodyguards followed her everywhere she went and when she sat down on a bench, they stopped and waited for her. A middle aged woman who sat next to her peered at her and she was so lost in her thoughts to notice her.

"Yara Banks, is that you?"

"Huh?" Yara came out of her reverie and gave a careful look at the woman.

"Professor Martinez? You're here too? Don't tell me you also get sick."

"No, I'm perfectly fine but one or two checkups on my blood sugar levels.... that's all." She said.

"I see." Yara nodded.

"Haven't seen you in my class for the past few days. What happened? Why are you here?"

Prof. Martinez was an adjunct lecturer of Economics at Aston University.

"Ummm...have been taking care of my grandpa. He's diabetic but I'm studying hard for my final exams." She lied.

"I can see, you look fabulous with the short hair." She complimented her.

"Prof. Martinez, you're up." A nurse informed.

"Right. I guess I'll see you soon."

"Sure." She muttered and watched her walk into the doctor's office.

"Ma'am, we should leave." One of the four bodyguards said.

"Okay." Yara having rested enough, stood up and the men followed her. They helped her with the door and she relaxed in the back seat of Shark's Rolls-Royce.

"Wait, I thought were going back to the villa.... where are you taking me?" Yara asked worriedly. An hour drive and she was craving to get back to the villa and taste Grasha's cooking.

"We're following our Boss's order. He told us to bring you here." One of the bodyguards responded.

"Where's this place?"

"Lovers Tower."

"What!" Yara exclaimed as the window of the Rolls-Royce tilted down. It was an amazing view, a beautiful skyscraper and fountains at the entrance. She had heard of the place but never knew it was extremely exquisite.

"What's he up to?" Yara wondered as the chauffeur helped her out as she alighted.

"This way Ma'am." Two bodyguards led the way and the other two trailed behind her. She felt important for once as she stepped into a spacious lobby with expensive decor. The staff peered at her as she stepped into the lift. She then realized that everybody else was using a regular elevator while she and the bodyguards used a private lift.

"Who owns this place?" She asked.

"This is one of the many Griffins premises."

"Okay. How many floors till we get there?"

"Twenty one Ma'am." The bodyguard said.

Meanwhile, Shark waited nervously for her at the rooftop. He looked around and was satisfied with all the decorations, the glimmering lights and the cool music playing in the background. He plastered a smile on his face as he saw her walking unsteadily towards him. With her eyes blindfolded, she couldn't help it but flounder. She almost tripped but then she gave it another shot until she inhaled his minty breath.

"Shark, what's happening?" She asked.

"One minute please," he slowly took off the blindfold from her eyes and she marvelled upon seeing the decorations. She felt like she was on Disneyland.

"Oh my God, this is beautiful. What's the deal? Spill the beans already." Yara was dying to know what he meant with all the lovey-dovey demeanor.

"I wish I could do this every day. You're amazing Yara and I'm so lucky to have you in my life...."

"Yeah I know that.... what's going on?" She couldn't contain herself any longer.

"I love you Yara. It maybe sooner than you think but I won't regret it. Maybe I do know you, maybe I don't but I'm sure you're the one I want for life....I just love you too much. Yara....can you be.....my girlfriend?" He spoke with a stutter due to tension and the fear of being rejected. Tears welled up in Yara's eyes and she hesitated before responding to his proposal. He held his breath and feared for the worst.

"Shark I...." Her voice trailed off.

"Shh! It's okay if you're not ready for any of this. I think I've been in over my head since you came into my life.... sorry." Shark didn't want to make her uncomfortable.

"That's not what I was going to say you dummy! I f*ck love you Shark and I want to be your girlfriend."

Shark pulled her into his embrace before he could even contemplate over it. Tears deluged down her cheeks and she leaned more onto his shoulders.

"Someone is forgetting the promise she made."

"No I haven't, these are tears of joy." She disengaged from his arms and smiled warmly.

"Mmh?" He chuckled and moved his palm to wipe her tears. "You know what else I want to do right now?"

"What?"

"Kiss you." It was that simple and before she could utter anything, he breached the gap between them, caved in and took her face with his hands kissing her so tender and passionate. His kisses full of endless longing and eternal promises.

He inclined his head so that his forehead rested against hers. Their eyes closed, breath intermixing. He smelled like expensive cologne, sun and heat and ocean. His breath blended with hers so that she couldn't tell where his exhale ended and her inhale began. Every sensation was packed with miracles and overwhelming surprise and deep commitment.

His hands burrowed into her hair. Her own hands reached up in answer. She couldn't believe she was touching him - his neck, his chest weaving her hands behind his head to draw him more closer. Cold chills sizzled against the backs of her knees in glaring contrast to the hot demanding heat pulling at her from the inside.
