Chapter 3

The school day had finally ended and I couldn't be more relieved to go home. I acquired some homework but not much, estimating it would only probably take about an hour.

Walking to my locker I place my German literature book into my locker, when I felt his eyes once again.

Biting my lip I contemplated on saying something.

Atlas POV.

Fresh air penetrates my lungs as I run the boarder of our territory. It's been a hot minute since my wolf has ran free for a while and it feels nice.

The stress of school starting up is already getting to me, it's my last year at Locksly. Which mostly means one more year before I replace my father, which by far has been the best Alpha since my great, great, great, great, great grandfather Cullen.

The fear of not living up to his expectation has had me on edge, the pack can sense it.

But they understand and respect me so they do not bring it up, also partly out of fear since I am there superior. As I run close to the south boarder of the territory, I catch a scent of lilac, peppermint, and something strange.

My wolf slips through and takes the reigns, what the hell.

'Hey what's wrong,' I call out to him but receive no answer.

He trots close to the edge getting dangerously close to the edge of the territory before stopping.

The scent is stronger now, sniffing the air I pin point the exact spot. The smell is so intoxicating, trotting closer to the tree line I look out. At first I see a house, taking a second look I see a girl on top of the roof.

With the sun slowly setting I take in her features, her curly light brown hair falls close to her lower back area. I can see her small button nose and her soft pale green eyes, that blend well with her pale skin. Her cheeks a rosy colored making her look like a beautiful woman from an old painting.

Mate.

My eyes widen at the realization.

My heart begins to pound exploding with joy and happiness, but importantly I feel whole.

She sits carefully not to fall off, but for her sake if she actually did I would be there to catch her.

She rummages through her pockets for something then pulls out a lighter and...a joint?

Curiosity got the best of me when I took a step closer to this goddess and I step on a twig. Instantly her eyes shot towards my direction, when our eyes met my world froze.

She was indeed everything I needed, she was perfect. My world started to revolve around this girl, my mate, that I've just met.

She sees me, I doubt she can sense our connection. I can tell she's only a human. She tilts her head a tad bit to the right and slowly puts the lighter and joint away. I sit down and stare at my future and start to imagine life with her.

She stared back with eyes filled of interest.

It was awhile before someone called for her, perhaps her father.

"BIRDIE SUPPERS READY!"

I hear from inside the house, she breaks away from my gaze and looks towards the window. Cautiously she moves towards the window she came out of and slips back through. As she moves I notice the curves of her body and how graceful she moves.

She looks through the window one last time at me before she shuts it.

Birdie huh, I think. Her name is unusual but it suits her, it most likely a nick name though.

'Atlas, Alpha want you back at the house,' I here my future beta Alec through the link.

'Got it I'm on my way back,' I respond, taking one last look at the house.

Good night my lovely mate, and I head back to the pack house.

It takes no more than 15 minutes to arrive back to the pack house. Shifting back I grab a pair of shorts, slipping them on and walking to the house.

"We'll look who decided to show up," Alec walks up besides me.

"Is he angry?" I question giving him a sideways glance.

"Not really just slightly annoyed," he responded simply turning his head to me.

"What is it this time," I ask opening the door for him to enter first.

"A treaty did go as planned," he said walking passed into the house.

I sign as I walk up the stair to my fathers office.

"You got this champ," Alec say as he grins at me.

I shot him a look to with he straightened up, "sorry, bad joke," he says giving me a wink.

I roll my eyes and pinch the space in between my eyes.

Knocking on the door I hear my father,

"Come in," his voice sounds exhausted and stressed.

Opening the door I step into the room and close it behind me, then take a seat across from my father.

"Business as per usual?" I ask sitting back in the chair.

"Business is business," he say rubbing his temples, "I asked you here to talk to you about your training. You are nearing the end, and doing well might I add, you are almost ready to take the position of Alpha."

I nod listen to his words, but still focused on the ravishing girl, Birdie, my little blue jay.

"Atlas, are you listening?" My fathers voice is pointed catching my attention.

He stares at me for a second, reading me or trying to at least.

He shakes his head, I guess trying to get rid of a thought before continuing.

"Anyways, you are also most done, I I think it's time you to train for the seven test."

My shoulders tensed, the seven test are what every future alpha of this pack must go through before taking leadership.

The first test is to see if anyone challenges me for my position, the trial of truth. The second test is skill and strategy on the battle field, I must be able to operate any type of weapon or defeat anyone with in seconds. The third test is to harness my six sense, or harness my power. My fathers special gift was precognition, very rare for alpha wolves to have. The fourth test is to connect with my ancestors, through a sacred ritual to insure I am ready to take over. The fifth test is pain endurance, I will be injected with liquid silver. As an alpha I need to be the strongest of my pack, which means going through the one of the worst pains any wear wolf can go through. The sixth test is connect deep with in to my wolf through another ritual called Rujia. And lastly this one isn't really a test more likely if passage, to find your mate and complete the mating process.

The thought of been so close and intimate with my little bird had me feeling a certain way. Thoughts of kissing her, letting my hands roam, as though green pale eyes stare into my soul, sounds blissful.

"Has to be done at some point," I say as I adjust myself hoping my father hasn't noticed.

My father gives a subtle side grin, "you'll be find Atlas, you are ready. Now you start school tomorrow so get some rest kid."

Nodding I stand up wish him good night and hurry out of the room, I need a cold shower.

After drying off I slip into another pair of shorts and lye down. The image of her sitting on the roof appeared in my mind, before I fell asleep.

7:00 o clock came around and my alarm sounded, stretching I get out of bed and put on my uniform. My hair looks fine as I brush my teeth, then slip shoes on and head out the door.

Looking at my phone I see a text from Alec.

Alec: Don't forget meeting at 7:30 in the gym for football.

Glancing at the time it's 7:16, guess I should be on my way.

The meeting went by fairly quickly, not to much just talk about doing better than last year, which in my opinion was great, we won state. But as coach always says we work harder to get farther.

"Hey, party at Evans Friday after the game," Alec said staring at the information on his phone.

My Gamma and Delta, Eric and Anders walk towards my their mates Lily and Olivia on there arms. Roxanne behind them being a goth wheel.

"So we heard you starting the seven test soon," Roxanne say when we start to walk outside towards the quad.

"Yep it's about that time for me to take over," I say pull the door and holding it open.

Her scent hits me instantaneously, looking up I see her. Her long brown hair is pulled back revealing her defined facial features. Her body fits the uniform well, making me bite my lip.

She walks a little unsure of her self towards the building, getting closer to me.

I hear Roxanne ask me another question but I completely zone everything out as her pale green eyes make contact with me as she passes by.

She is my world, it takes everything in my to control myself from pushing her up against a wall  kissing her.

Bernadette's POV

I see him walk over to me confidently.

"Hi, I couldn't help but notice you, I'm Atlas, Atlas Carter," he gave me a genuine smile.

Seeing him and him talking to me made my heart skip a beat.
