In the city of London, smoke was rising as the fires raged. The smoke was thick and obscured the sky, but... in a certain part of London... laughing could be heard.

This laughing was masculine and it sounded as if the man was in utter joy, like a child who had just gotten a toy. But... the reality of the situation was far different.

The man who was laughing had white hair and wore dark green army pants and black boots with no shirt. His bloody red eyes looked content as they began to become dull and slowly glossed over. But, a glaring problem was the tooth buried into his heart.

Finally... I'm finally... free... from... him.

I could feel my heart slowing down, my life was fading, my vision was faltering... but with what little sight I had left, I could see... an old man. He smelled like a vampire, yet at the same time... he didn't. I couldn't muster the strength to speak as my voice had long since died in my throat.

"I'm not letting you die yet, young man." I watched the elder reach into his pocket only to pull out a jar that was far too large to fit inside his pocket. I could barely see anymore, but I could tell that in the jar was something red. I heard the jar open as my eyes grew heavy... I decided... I'll... just...

Rest... my eyes.

I opened them again... and I was in a snowy field. My eyes widened as I saw... a cabin. My family once lived here, but what suprised me most was who was on the porch.

I could see a white haired man in a suit that looked just like me sat reading a newspaper. We locked eyes and he smiled softly at me, soon after, a woman with long white hair walked out of the cabin. She wore an identical business suit, again I locked eyes with her and her eyes were filled with motherly love.

And last but not least, I felt something bump into my leg, and looked down to see my 10 year old sister wearing a dress as her red eyes stared at me with glee.

My family.

'dad... mom... little sister.' I picked up my little sister... and I blinked.

They were gone.

What?! Where? How? I looked around and found myself in a forest.

'am I... back in Brazil? No... that Victoria woman should have killed me.' I opened my coat and saw a small tooth shaped scar where my heart is. 'So it was real... but... how am I alive?'

I sniffed the air and could smell no one nearby. Nor could I hear anyone. I turned to Mist and floated up a tree before reforming. My guns clanked against each other as I reformed to see a city up ahead.

I jumped down from the tree and landed on my feet with a thud. I saw the shadows flicker and swiftly aimed my gun at them.

'odd... not only can I not smell or hear anyone... I feel stronger.' I approached the shadow that flickered and stared intently at it. I reached for the shadow, and attempted to touch it.

Only for my hand to sink into it.

I pulled my hand back in shock and examined it.

'no injuries. That old man, I think he saved me. However, this seems to be a side effect.' I grabbed a leaf off of the ground and placed it into the shadow, I waited a minute before pulling it back out.

'no damage or deterioration. Its safe.' I took off my cap and tore off the badges on my coat. I dumped them onto the ground and started to head towards the city.

________________________________________________

I was currently walking through the city but I could see people with animal features.

'where am I? The features... they aren't what you'd call cosplay as they smell just like the animals with which they share features.' I looked up to the night sky... and saw a broken moon.

'this isn't earth. That much I can be sure about.' I looked around as I noticed a man with ginger hair covering an eye walking through the crowds of people. He wore a long white coat with a black bowler hat that had a red stripe. I turned to Mist, shocking the people near me and followed after him. He was being escorted by 5 other men in black suits and hats with red ties.

They walked straight ahead and towards a shop called from dust till dawn. The man walked with swagger and confidence in his stride before they walked into the store.

I observed from outside until one of the men went flying out of the window and out came a black haired girl with red tips on the ends. She wore a black and red dress-like outfit with a red scythe in hand, though I was confused on why it looked mechanical and had a sniper scope.

The man walked out after his henchmen with an irritated look on his face.

"get her!" The ginger yelled, his henchmen swiftly got to it and tried to attack the girl, I took the opportunity to spread myself out and obscure their vision in a thick Mist. Shouting could be heard from within the Mist as I began to reform myself, right behind the ginger haired man.

I swiftly grabbed him by his neck and raised him into the air. He struggled to breath with my grasp against his neck, I looked to the girl who had defeated her opponents.

"you're really tall!" I looked down at the girl, only just now realising the height difference. Suddenly, an explosion rang through my ears as I had felt an impact against my chest.

Yet, my grip did not loosen.

I looked to the source and saw a cane pointed to my chest and a coughing ginger in my grasp.

"how in oum are you not even fazed?!" I tightened my grasp on his throat and he kicked and struggled against my grasp.

"please don't kill him!" I looked to the innocent little girl and thought of my dear little sister.

'she wouldn't want senseless murder...' I struck the man in the gut, knocking him out from the shock. I turned back to the scythe wielder, but my instincts kicked in and I pulled her out of the way.

Just in time too. A ball of fire blasted onto the ground and made a crater.

"sorry..." I croaked out as i picked up the girl before throwing her into the store. I looked up to see an odd looking aircraft with two engines pointing up and a moderately large body. The door was opened and I could see a shadowy figure throwing the fireballs.

I reached to my side and grabbed my right mauser, I braced it over my left arm and aimed at the women. I fired three shots at the attacker and 2 were blocked but the third one pierced her leg. I looked back to where I knocked out the ginger and saw he was gone.

'somethings wrong. Normal humans shouldn't be able to throw fire. My gun though... it feels different. The grip is slightly rougher and the weight is different, the kick is also more than it once was. It seems the only irregularities aren't just with my body.' A circle of fire appeared underneath me.

I turned to Mist and was forced to leave my mauser behind on the ground as a pillar of fire erupted from where I just stood. A blonde haired woman appeared from behind me, riding crop in hand, and her black cape fluttered behind her as a purple aura enveloped the rubble before being launched at the aircraft.

'this... its like alahambra! But... no, his ability was different. He couldn't do it with just any object.' The shadowy figure fired towards the blonde as her aircraft began to get away. The caped woman did not want to allow this as she tried to use more rubble to bring it down.

But I was no longer interested by this.

I looked at where the pillar of fire was and saw my mauser, completely unscathed. I walked over to it and picked it up.

'so many oddities. What's next I wonder?' I was lucky that my coat is fire retardant.

I turned back to see a very angry blonde woman.

"you sir, are coming with me!" I felt her purple aura attempting to restrain me, so I broke it. "What?!"

"I'll... go..." my voice was so weak from not being used for 60 years, its no suprise the women looked shocked.

I was currently cuffed to a table next to the girl from earlier as we were lectured by the blonde. I had learned both their names, the blondes was glynda goodwitch and the girls was Ruby rose.

"do you have any idea how reckless you were sir?" She had given me a notepad after hearing my voice and I started writing.

"it was the best choice to reduce the amount of casualties" the woman couldn't think of a rebuttal but then a grey haired man walked in with a mug and plate of cookies.

"hello, Ruby rose and I'm afraid I don't know yours."

"hans günsche." He looked suprised at how I wrote it.

"old atlesian? I think it was called... German?" I was suprised and nodded my head. "Well, Mr gunsche. Was that mist your semblance?" I didn't know what that was, I had to come up with a plausible cover story.

"I woke up in the forest a few hours ago and I don't remember anything. So please elaborate." He looked at me owlishly, my amnesia story may not hold up.

"an odd situation. But, a semblance is an aspect of one's soul that is a special ability. You saw the purple energy that glynda used? That is hers." He placed the plate of cookies onto the table and Ruby began to devour them one after another. I stole one before she could even realise.

"it's a possibility, but I'm not positive." He pulled out a cylinder shaped object that I was unfamiliar with.

"it doesn't look to be a semblance. Odd. I believe I've ignored you for a tad too long, Ms Rose. Tell me, where did you learn to do this?" He showed a... video? I believe it was called that. But anyways, it showed the girl fighting off her opponents in the Mist.

"oh! That! Thash because my..." She swallowed her food. "Uncle taught me!" Though she failed to notice she had spat crumbs all over my coat. I stared at her and she turned to me and saw my coat.

"I'm sorry!" I waved away her apology and brushed myself off.

"tell me, Ms Rose. Do you know who I am?"

"your professor ozpin of beacon academy!" A teacher has the clearance to enter a police station?

"how would you like to join beacon?"

'she's so young and he's enrolling her into a school far too early. Assuming it's a normal school, which it's likely not, she'd be very behind on subjects.'

"I'd love to!"

"then, I shall see you at beacon." He allowed her to leave and she burst into rose petals and was gone. "Now then, due to your amnesia... I can't just leave you clueless. Hmm, how about you become a security guard for beacon?" Glynda was shocked.

"you can't be serious sir! We just met him!" She was right, it was a very rash decision. A thing I'm very familiar with.

"I am very serious glynda. You've seen his combat abilities, and it's obvious how clueless he is. I'm fairly sure he can be trusted. Before you go though, what kind of weapon would you like?"

I pondered the question, usually I'd just fight with my guns or just my fists but my instincts tell me that it's not a good idea to rely on just those two. However, if I'm going to have a weapon, I would want a powerful one with long reach with the ability to both slash and pierce.

"A... halberd." My choice once again left him suprised. I always liked the look of such weaponry.

"an incredibly rare choice in weapon, but it shall be done." As I went to the door, I contemplated telling him what I though but held back.

'ozpin... the man smells even older than alucard. He's atleast a thousand years old. I don't know if I can trust you...' with that thought, I left the room and was greeted by Ruby.

"hello! I just wanted to apologise for getting crumbs on you and as thanks for saving me at the dust shop, would you like to stay at my house for the time being? Y'know since you saved my life and all!" I took out my notepad.

"are your relatives okay with this?"

"I haven't told them yet but after explaining what you did for me, they should be fine. Dad's pretty calm, yang can be a bit angry... mom..." She looked very sad at the mere mention.

"you don't need to open up about your life this quickly, Ms Rose. It's better to open up when it feels right, don't force it." She read it and visibly cheered up a bit.

"thanks Mr günsche! I didn't expect you to try and cheer me up but you did, and it worked! Now, away we go!" She began to charge off and I was forced to run after her.

'Ruby rose huh? What an interesting girl...'
