Loot the Lovegoods

Oz wandered up the hill towards the supposed location of the Lovegood's house. With each step heavy in the muddy ground he looked back realising he had walked pretty far from the camp as it wasn't in sight at all anymore.

'I'm almost to where the ward is, the second I walk into it they'll recognise a new magical signature in the area and come out to me. I have my story straight, I'll pretend I just stumbled across this place and know nothing of magic. They should be more than pleased to explain everything to me then'

As Oz finally walked into the ward he felt a strange energy quickly sweep over his body after which the Lovegood's house appeared in front of him just up the hill. Oz smiled, thankfully for him this part worked perfectly and it seems the ward has deemed him magical folk and allowed from him to be in the ward where the Lovegood's house is.

Oz then put on a face of wonder and slowly walked up towards the weird looking abode. Out of nowhere however one of the windows in the top floor exploded.

*BOOM*

'Shit did I come at a bad time or something?'

Running towards the house, Oz looked up at the window that had exploded and noticed an older women in it. He then facepalmed himself realising an error he had made.

'Pandora Lovegood, Xenophilius Lovegood's wife! how did I forget that she isn't actually dead yet she dies in 1990 and as of right now its only 1987, So much for 'Perfect Memory'... Maybe the ability only activated after I got it so memories of my past life are a bit hazy and still prone to forgetfulness?'

In all honesty, Oz didn't think his plan would change due to this. Pandora was a more sharper put together women and not as absent minded as Xenophilius, but nobody should be able to turn down an 8 year old orphan wizard with no clue what magic is. Oz finally reached the door and gave it a quick knock.

'They should already know im here, but a little courtesy never hurt anyone'

The door then slowly opened and at the door was a young girl aged around 6 years old.

"Can I help you" says the girl, her dirty blonde hair falling down to her waist.

'This must be Luna, she looks so young its weird. I only remember her from the fifth film so the difference is very stark... anyway commence plan loot the lovegoods'

"How did this house suddenly appear on this hill? are you all witches or something?"

As soon as Oz uttered this sentence Luna's complexion paled. She slammed the door and ran up to her mother and father at the top of the house.

"Mummy, Daddy! there's a boy outside who says our house suddenly appeared on the hill and is questioning whether we are witches. Are we in trouble? is he a mug- a muggy, no, Muggle! thats it is he a muggle!"

Xenophilius and Pandora both look at their daughter in confusion. Xenophilius then responds to his daughter.

"Luna, the wards set around this place will bar any muggles from coming inside, besides me and your mother both sensed that a wizard had come in. How could the boy not know of magic if he's a wizard himself?"

Pandora Lovegood sat to the side, her hair still charred from the recent spell explosion from testing. "Luna dear your fathers right, any and all muggles would not be able to come into the wards, I set the up myself!"

"Do you think that the boy was playing tricks on me then?" said Luna, wearing a confused countenance.

Xenophilius and Pandora looked at each other then started heading down stairs towards where the mystery boy is supposed to be.

Meanwhile outside the house.

'Maybe I should have slowly eased her into the thought of me being a clueless wizard... Might have went in too strong. She probably thinks I'm a rogue muggle! oh well, hopefully Xenophilius or Pandora will realise that I made it into the ward meaning im a wizard and have magic in me'

After a brief time, the door in front of Oz finally opened presenting to him the whole Lovegood family.

Xenophilius then started "Hello there young man, what brings you to the Lovegood household?"

'Is he really probing an 8 year old? he really is strange. Whatever Oz just play the part of a clueless young boy'

"Uh hello Mr Lovegood, I stumbled across your house randomly while on a trip with the orphanage. I was wondering up stream and eventually saw a blur in the distance and became intrigued so I ran towards it then this big house appeared! how did you do this? I thought magic wasn't real!"

Pandora then whispered in Xenophilius' ear "Xeno dear, it seems to me that he's an orphan boy who is a wizard yet has no clue of what magic is, its no surprise he's shocked and curious. Maybe we should let him in and explain to him what he is".

Xenophilius after thinking for a moment then responds to Oz "Come on in young lad, looks like we got some explaining to do for you".

'This is progressing wonderfully' Oz thought as he was welcomed into the Lovegood family home. As he walks in he sees Luna acting sheepish yet still having a curious twinkle in her eye, probably curious about how he doesn't know anything about magic.

"Well young chap" says Xenophilius, "Simply put we here are all Witches and Wizards, and that includes you as well. The slight blur you saw must have been the wards placed around our house and you were only able to come in as you have magic within you. It must be very shocking for you but we will give you the run down as thoroughly as possible".

Over the next hour, Xenophilius Lovegood and Pandora Lovegood both took turns explaining to me in detail what a wizard was, how there's a wizarding world out there and basically about as much basic information they fit in, in as short of time as possible.

"So I'll be getting a letter to Hogwarts in 3 years! Amazing! learning at the Orphanage is so boring being able to learn magic sounds much more fun!"

After Oz said this he could have sworn that Pandora said something about 3 years under her breath, which gave him a bit of a start.

'Hopefully she hasn't noticed anything too suspicious with me and my magic, this was a hit or miss operation and if the ward notifies her that I actually have more magic than usual at my age as well then she may think it odd... well it wouldn't be the end of the world. Plus she'll probably dismiss it after this Oscar level performance'

Xenophilius grins at Oz and says "Yes young lad, you'll be able to learn a lot at Hogwarts so look forward to it! Our young girl here will eventually be going as well but two years after you so when you're in your third year make sure to look out for her!".

Luna hides her head behind a pillow when Xenophilius mentions her, a cute response in Oz's eyes.

'Okay now, going in for the kill'

"Could you give me books on magic Mr and Mrs Lovegood. I want to learn as much as possible about the Wizard Community before I join it!"

Pandora smiles sweetly "Of course young child we will give you some of our spare books on the matter. We have all the books you'll need for your time when you enter Hogwarts right here"

Xenophilius adds in after his wife "We'll also hand you some books on the magical community and structure please standby for a second lad".

Xenophilius then disappears into the house gathering books for me with which he puts into a little pouch. Oz out of the corner of his eye spotted also that in his scattered movements he accidently picked up a small notebook and put it in the pouch with all the other books. The notebook in question was labelled "Spell note's - Pandora Lovegood".

'He really is a scatter-brained person! He put one of his wife's notebooks in that pouch too! Well im not complaining, such notes could prove useful in the future...'

After finishing his rushing around Xenophilius walked up to Oz with a smile on his face.

"This pouch here has an undetectable extension charm and can hold a lot of items in it, muggles wont see anything in it but if you activate it with your magical energy and signature you'll be able to take any of the contents out. Inside is all the books you need lad".

'A bonus pouch! You Lovegood's have officially ended up in my good books'

Oz then took his new pouch and strapped it onto his waist comfortably.

Looking deeply at Oz, Pandora then says "Now young boy its time for you to leave, you've been here for a long time now and your orphanage is probably wondering where you are".

As Oz walks towards the door he passes Pandora, whispering to her the following:

"Be careful not to blow up any more windows with your experiments".

Pandora's face flushed with embarrassment for a second but she kept her motherly smile on as Oz walked out the door. Oz then turned towards the Lovegoods, waving and thanking them for their hospitality before walking back towards the Orphanage's camp.

The Orphanage wasn't too thrilled with him disappearing however, and reduced his meals for the next couple days.

'A small price to pay for some more knowledge'.

Pandora calls Xenophilius to her room where she experiments, a few hours after Oz has left.

Xenophilius walks into the room and sees his wife looking out the window towards the path on which Oz left on.

"Is something wrong love?" says Xenophilius

Pandora turned towards Xenophilius and sighed, "Dear, that boy was pretty strange, although he did seem truly clueless about the wizarding community he was actually able to spot the ward, saying he saw a blur in the distance. He probably didn't understand the gravity of what he said at the time but such a feat is something many adult witches and wizards cant achieve, alongside that he seems to have Occlumency defences which a child of 8 definitely shouldn't possess".

Xenophilius sat down next to his wife and look down towards the path that Oz left on also. "He didn't seem like a bad lad though, he responded in kind and absorbed all the information we gave him. Maybe he has more magic than other kids allowing him to have slight defences in his mind and the ability to spot wards?"

Pandora stood up and sighed again, something did seem suspicious but it wasn't anything ground-breaking that could cause issues, It was probably just here overthinking the situation.

" 'Try not to blow up any more windows', why do I sense as if there's something more to unravel there..." Pandora mummed as she walked towards the door.

Sadly such a warning would be pushed to the back of her mind.
