The Cave of the White Beast 2

Inside the Cave of the White Beast, with no lighting within, a couple of steps could be heard.

The young woman raised her wand which was glowing at its tios illuminating her way as she carefully strode forward along with her friend in tow.

As they were walking, they found a fork ahead leading to two different directions.

Violet looked at this fork and couldn't help but mutter, "Isn't this just a cave for a beast? Why is this like a maze with so many twists and turns in the middle? It is as if we are not going to find a beast but instead we are here to find an invaluable treasure."

Tanzi's lips twitched when she heard this, "This cave is not made by the beast. It is the work of the nature. You should appreciate the wonders of nature when you see this."

If this was man made, then maybe Tanzi too may speak the same way. But since it is a naturally formed cave, she wanted to appreciate the wonder in front of her.

Violet simply shook her head. She is not in a mood to appreciate the mother nature's creation when she is ready to encounter the face of her death.

She simply ignored what Tanzi said and instead asked, "Tanzi, now which way to go?"

Tanzi gave her a look and shrugged.

Violet took in her reaction and clicked her tongue a couple of times, "Tanzi, don't play with me. It's not like I don't know you well enough already. Just tell me fast."

Tanzi smirked at her friend and turned back to look at the two ways in front of her. Her eyes constricted as looked seriously at them and moved head a little forward to take a sniff in both directions.

Even her strong sense of smell did not help her in finding the way. She had no choice but to sigh and go for her final move.

She took out a small pouch that was loosely bound to her belt on her waist and opened it. Under Violet's curious gaze, she took out a small, around an inch sized, vial filled with pinkish powder.

She unscrewed the cap of the vial and simply emptied the powder from the vial into the air in front of her; at the center of the two entrances.

The pinkish powder did not reach the ground but proceeded forward and twirled around a couple of times in the air. After dancing for a few seconds, all the powder went through the right side of the cave like a wave in the air.

Tanzi saw this and told Violet, "Then, we should go left. Come on."

Violet followed behind her but spoke while walking, "Tanzi, wouldn't you always say that we should follow the powder? Why did we go in the opposite direction this time?"

She knew the powder that Tanzi just threw and also knew that she should follow that powder every time. Yet she did not stop and questioned her in that place itself. Instead she followed her indicating her trust towards her friend.

Now she was asking the question only because she was curious about it and not because she was doubting her friend's intentions.

Tanzi smiled and replied, "When we need to go for our safety, we should definitely follow that powder. But, Violet," She paused for a second and looked at Violet and spoke in a low voice, "We are not here to be safe. We are here to face danger."

She then turned back and continued walking as she asked, "Do you understand now?" Her voice was no longer low like she spoke a second ago. It was soft unlike the previous voice which scared Violet out of her wits.

When she lowered her voice and looked straight into her eyes and said, 'We are here to face danger', Violet involuntarily shivered. This is how Tanzi is. No matter how soft and friendly she was with her friends, in the end she was not a normal girl like others.

She was the greatest Witch of all, whom not only everyone respected but also everyone feared.

If she was not scary this way, then how could everyone fear her?

It is not that she wants to scare everyone either. It is just the aura that surrounds her subconsciously which would be revealed sometimes.

As she went back to speaking softly, Violet took a deep breath and sighed in relief. Even after being close to her for years, she was still not used to such an overbearing aura of Tanzi.

After walking for a few more steps they encountered another fork but this time there are three different entrances.

Both the friends looked at each other and looked back at the fork in front of them in resignation.
