79 Chapter 79: Confronting the Specter

After Lann finished speaking, he took two deep breaths. He took out the silver lion-headed sword. Then he turned to hand it to Swade and said: "I can no longer wield the sword. I will give it to you to use for the time being, so that it can be put to better use."

"You must cooperate to stop the monsters before Geralt, and I knock the specter to the ground. Give me all the bombs, I'll try to cover them all."

Lann's hands holding the sword were trembling slightly at this time, and his arms had completely lost strength. He had previously destroyed Tomas Moreau's body single-handedly, then used the Whirl ability to slash dozens of times with extreme force and had finally fallen from the air in his heavy armor, having suffered considerable injuries.

Had it not been for his superior physical fitness, he would have been lying on the ground with exhausted strength and broken bones by now.

Now, the way Lann can maximize his combat effectiveness is to use his Fleet Footed ability, which is like a bug in real life, combined with bombs to become a 'suicide infantry' that won't get hurt.

Everything was ready, and finally, the creatures turned their attention towards them.

After the initial adaptation to the unfamiliar environment, their biological instinct tells them to give priority to the group with the smallest number, smallest size, and the weakest appearance on the field.

Swade waved the newly acquired lion-headed silver sword and felt courage pouring into his body in an instant. He shouted: "My lord, continue with Mr. Geralt to deal with the specter in the sky. I will deal with the monsters with Mr. Druid."

"I won't let the monsters bother you before you knock the specter to the ground!"

Tomas Moreau in the air controlled the golems and gargoyles and strode towards Lann and his party. This group of heavy monsters caused the ground to rumble continuously. The other monsters who had just suffered a loss because of them couldn't help but feel nervous at this moment so they gave way to them.

Lann warned his companions loudly: "Don't fight them. Golems and gargoyles are inherently difficult to hurt with swords and have high magic resistance. Let's try to get close to the drowners and see if we can let them fight each other again."

Swade nodded, feeling that his palms were slightly sweaty. Meanwhile, the druid did something unexpected for everyone present.

From the beginning, he had been positioned closer to the wall. At this moment, facing the approaching golems and gargoyles, he suddenly muttered something and stabbed the staff in his hand into the ground. The enormous force caused the wood to penetrate directly through the rock.

Immediately, the staff began to emanate vibrant energy. In a matter of seconds, roots and shoots sprouted, growing rapidly, throwing countless roots and vines onto the approaching creatures, rendering them momentarily immobilized.

Lann's eyes lit up. Before he could praise him, he saw the druid suddenly roar and use the most primitive way to burst out magical power in the form of a shockwave, knocking back several drowners that tried to rush at him, briefly creating a zone of void around him.

Then he rushed into the nearest portal and disappeared in an instant.

He ran away.

Swade and Lann stared wide-eyed at this act of desertion.

The purpose of the young druid's joining the exploration team this time is different from that of Geralt, who is a half-employee and half-helper, and it is even more different from the attendant soldiers like Swade. He was originally the guide introduced by Mousesack, and later came to explore together because he wanted to share some of the loot from the ruins.

He and the others are not friends, and they have no obligation to fight to the death for Lann. As a long-lived magic profession, life is the most precious thing. At this critical moment, when he thought Lann's plan was riskier, he naturally chose his own plan.

"Damn!" Lann couldn't help but cursed angrily.

The invisible Tomas Moreau watched this scene with a smile, controlling the magic guards to easily break free from the vines that were not controlled by the druid, and rushed towards the group of people again.

Lann and the others lost their only spellcaster.

Swade was so shocked by the scene before him that he couldn't speak for a moment. He looked at Lann behind him and then at the creatures in front of them. He gripped the sword tightly and his eyes became determined.

"For Cintra, for the Lannister!" The assistant shouted loudly and ran forward.

Lann grabbed Swade's cloak and pulled him back. The force exerted to pull him caused a tearing pain in his already weakened arm. He then threw several Dragon's Dream Bombs, causing explosive gas to begin filling the space.

"Don't you have any brains? How much time can you delay by just going to die like this!" Lann shouted fiercely at Swade. "Go and stop the drowners and the ghouls, but don't confront them directly. Every fiber of your being should be thinking about how to live a little longer. Do you understand?"

As he spoke, the gigantic golem in front of them suddenly stomped and a circular shockwave visible to the naked eye spread in all directions with the golem as the center.

Lann rolled forward to face the wave, using his abilities to avoid the damage. On the contrary, the gargoyles behind the golem and a group of ghouls following from a distance were affected and flew out.

The gas created by the Dragon's Dream bombs was expanding, and upon seeing this Lann dropped a bunch of Dancing Star Bombs.

"Everybody to the floor!"

[Boom!]

Explosions, fragments, flames and impacts, everything erupted in the room.

Meanwhile, Geralt remained unfazed, unaffected by what was happening around him.

He took out a bottle of magic potion from his alchemical backpack and, after removing the wax seal, drank it in one gulp.

The amber cat eyes in the darkness became brighter.

[Cat]: One of the most commonly used potions by witchers. Improves the ability to see in the dark, increases resistance to hypnosis, and strengthens the senses to a certain extent.

At that moment, Geralt was channeling his Witcher Senses to the maximum, feeling every slight vibration in the air, trying to unravel the location of the elusive Tomas Moreau in his state of invisibility.

Neither the Cat potion nor the Witcher Senses allowed Geralt to see through the specter's disguise. But Geralt didn't need to be so precise. He only needed to know the approximate location of the opponent and it was enough for him to find a small flaw.

Like the concentration of a scent, the appearance of a small breeze, the movement of a speck of dust.

In the air, Tomas Moreau silently observed Geralt. His sanity at this time was higher than the state of possessing the body. Although it was far less than before he was alive, it was enough for him to see the situation clearly. He knew that the fate of Lann and his group now rested on this witcher in front of him.

Suddenly, Geralt seemed to have discovered something.

He suddenly took out the three Moon Dust bombs on him, while removing the safety rings from them, and then threw them in a zigzag pattern.

There was a triple boom as all three alchemical bombs exploded simultaneously, dyeing an area above Geralt's head a dazzling silver glow.

The silver splinters covered a small area and did not reveal the figure of Tomas Moreau. This made the specter in the air feel calm and at the same time a little confused.

However, the high concentration of silver slivers released by the three bombs also briefly obstructed Tomas Moreau's view, preventing him from seeing Geralt behind the silver mist as he formed a Sign with his left hand.

[Aard Sign]!

A large amount of magic power flowed through Geralt's body, and he almost used all his strength in this blow.

A storm of kinetic energy caused by the Sign rushed into the silver mist, and the entrained silver slivers formed a silver whirlwind, rapidly expanding in the direction of Geralt's goal.

The combined attack of the Moon Dust bomb and the Aard Sign instantly dispersed the specter's ability that made it invisible, revealing a creature burning with green flames.

'I found you!'

Geralt's eyes widened, his pupils constricting as he fixed his gaze on his opponent. He took out his crossbow and without even aiming, pulled the trigger. A bright silver arrow flew through the air and pierced the specter's chest.

Tomas Moreau was hit by a sudden attack, suddenly falling from the air, but he quickly stabilized his figure. The specter had no vital points, an arrow piercing its chest or arm made no difference to the creature.

And the effect of the silver mist surrounding him quickly faded. Although the silver slivers scattered by the Aard sign had a great range, it was also greatly diluted accordingly and could only allow the specter to appear for a few breaths.

Thomas Moreau was about to disappear again, but he did not realize that the height at which he was floating was very close to the ground, and Geralt was already below him, forming another sign with a gesture of his hand.

[Yrden Sign]!

Purple hourglass-shaped runes suddenly appeared on the ground, forming a magic trap. The purple glow instantly enveloped the specter's remaining body, making it completely visible in the air, and at the same time, its speed slowed to the point of making it move clumsily in the air.

Lann had already handed the badge of hatred to Geralt, and taking advantage of that moment he placed it around the specter's neck before he could react. The insignia hung around the creature's neck, on a silver necklace to which Geralt had attached it.

The magic wave began to spread, and the badge began to vibrate. In an instant, every creature in the room turned their heads in unison in the specter's direction, hatred burning in his eyes.

In a sense, these experimental subjects brought from abroad by Tomas Moreau and raised in captivity should consider him an object of hatred. Therefore, it can be said that they were not only attracted to the badge of hatred, but also awakened the deep-seated hatred they had towards Tomas Moreau. Due to a combination of circumstances, the effect is far beyond imagination.

Dozens of unequal but equally shrill roars filled the room, and all the creatures rushed frantically toward Tomas Moreau.

Lann and Swade hurriedly hid in a corner. The situation had reached such a level that they were no longer able to intervene.

Tomas Moreau frantically called for gargoyles and golems to protect him and at the same time wanted to float in the air to escape. But the silver necklace prevented him from becoming incorporeal and Geralt used the sign of Yrden to restrict his movements in every way possible.

"Kill him, kill the witcher!"

The golems and gargoyles rushed towards Geralt in unison, but they accidentally let some nearby drowners and ghouls pass by and pounced on Tomas Moreau.

The specter waved its claws to scare them away, but the green flames burning on its body became more and more intense. He shouted in panic: "No, stop them... There's no need to kill the witcher, just get him away, get him away!"

Lann patted Swade and said: "Go up and help. Let's cover Geralt together."

At the same time, he turned around and threw the last Grapeshot bombs, trying to hinder the advance of the gargoyles and golems.

Unfortunately, both golems and gargoyles have excellent resistance to alchemical bombs and have little effect.

These magic guards all approached Geralt and stomped their feet, causing the entire hall to tremble. At the same time, a huge circular shock wave spread out.

This is not a skill in the game that can identify friendly forces. After several magic guards used it, they were knocked over each other. The horns and small wings of the gargoyles were broken one after another, but the shock wave merged into one and quickly swept away the entire hall.

The giant centipede looked like it had been hit by a hammer, with a large part of its exoskeleton broken into pieces. The nearest ghouls and drowners were thrown into the air.

Geralt, the one closest to the shockwave, was launched like a projectile.

"Mr. Geralt!" Swade, who was running to help, was swept along with him by the force of the crash, and they both rolled together until they were pinned against the wall.

At this moment, the huge golem stretched out a hand and absorbed a large amount of stones from the ground with an invisible energy wave, forming a kind of projectile that shot towards Geralt like a cannonball.

Geralt barely reacted when he was hit in the head just as he placed a Quen Sign on himself, and Swade behind him was also swept away by the force of the attack, flying into the air.

Behind them was a portal that led to an unknown location.

"My Lord the Earl!" Swade stretched out his arms weakly and was swallowed by darkness in an instant.
