In front of the crow were 200 years worth of work. A fast dire landscape with all sorts of apple trees. A orchard roughly the size of the USA.

And so we acquired tons of information about apples. We had golden ones, cubic ones, blue ones, some that looked like squids (quite a lot actually).

And this is what led to following conversation…

Good question. They all originated from an experiment. I decided, out of pure boredom to cross squids with apples.

… (I'd ask how and why but, well I just don't. He'll tell me anyway.)

So I used one of these cubes, they have infinite uses…. Here ya' go master. I'll present ya' one.

… (Great. Now I could also create said apples.)

So as ya' see ther' are Seed Cubes. I'll find ya' a book, then ya' can get the han' out o' it with your [Perfect Builder] skillset.

Anyway so ya' would get the DNA of both and it creates a seed. Ya an' that's how I did it. I found these to make nice movements… so I used the DNA more often. And here we go. We have exactly 1279 different kinds of squid apples.
