1 The Wings of Brotherhood

It is said that the Jian, a bird known for sharing wings, possesses only one wing. Without finding its counterpart and acting as one, it remains incapable of flight. Just like me and my brother, we are imperfect and incomplete creatures.

Commoners are blessed with two wings, symbolizing power and talent. Nobles are born with three wings, the third representing wealth. Royalty, on the other hand, are born with four wings, a testament to being favored by the gods. But what does it mean for my brother and me, who possess only one wing? The road ahead of us will not be easy. We do not even know if the path we choose will remain the same. However, no matter what challenges we face, we will always be brothers, right?

"Wake up, boys! It's time for breakfast!" called a mysterious voice.

"Coming!" the two boys exclaimed, jumping out of bed and racing down the hall.

"I'm gonna win this time, Jason."

"No, you won't."

Out of nowhere, a puddle of water appeared in front of Jason.

"Really, Eric? What's a puddle of water gonna do?"

Suddenly, the water transformed into ice, causing Jason to slip into the wall while Eric took the lead. Jason, determined, ran straight for the railing and jumped off.

"AHHHHHH!" Jason screamed as he flew past three sets of stairs... four sets... five sets.

"MOM!!" Suddenly, a gust of dancing wind took the form of hands and caught the falling boy.

"All that magic power, and you can't even use it. What a waste," Eric remarked.

"Eric!"

"Sorry, Mother."

"Eric's right, Mother. What's the point of having all this power when I can't even use it?"

"I'm sorry I'm not a genius like Eric."

Their mother looked at them with a sympathetic expression and said, "You both have amazing gifts, regardless of what you can or can't do. You two are the only ones in this whole world who can truly understand each other. You must make sure to protect each other, understand?"

"Yes, Mother," the boys replied in unison.

"Now hurry and get ready for your first day at the academy. You don't want to be late."
