The dining area was not too shabby. The melodious tune of a violin drifted in the air. Nan Cheng was cosmopolitan and many of the restaurants were run by foreigners.

Gu Ruochu paused with her chopsticks. She looked at his elegant manner as he ate and could not understand why he had made that statement. Some people believed that marriage was based on love, while others believed it was a task that had to be completed.

Huo Nanchen fit the second description.

Hadn't he always despised her?

She glanced at him and said meaningfully, "I never thought about marriage in the first place. But I still married you, didn't I? That's why everything is possible."

Huo Nanchen pursed his thin lips and fell silent. The fire in his eyes disappeared in an instant.

Gu Ruochu did not pay much attention to his emotions. She had other things on her mind as she sipped a few mouthfuls of red wine.

The meal lasted for almost an hour. Mrs. Huo called to urge Gu Ruochu to hurry up. Although the banquet wouldn't begin until six in the evening, Gu Ruochu still had to put on her makeup and prepare.
