This made Mrs. Huo infuriated.

The next day, Gu Ruochu climbed out of bed, still in a daze. She took her time to prepare herself before leaving the bedroom.

When she arrived downstairs, she saw Huo Nanchen sitting upright at the dining table.

Huo Nanchen had returned in the morning. His heavy eyes revealed the fact that he had not slept at all.

Gu Ruochu hesitated. She did not know whether to walk over or not.

Mrs. Huo gently coughed, and Nanny Zhang turned to look at Gu Ruochu. She walked over and winked at her. "Come quickly. The Young Master came back early in the morning."

Nanny Zhang led Gu Ruochu to the dining table and pulled out the chair next to Huo Nanchen.

Aunt Yuan walked over and smiled. "Young Master, Young Madam, I've sent someone to repair the beds in the guest rooms."

Gu Ruochu raised her head and asked in confusion, "What beds?"

"I've sent someone to repair the empty beds in the house. Mother said that the beds have been damaged from not checking them for too long and that they're not safe." Huo Nanchen glanced at her. Gu Ruochu took a few seconds to react.

No wonder all the doors in the corridor were open as she came downstairs.

Gu Ruochu looked at her mother-in-law. A crack appeared on Mrs. Huo's calm face. She had done this to prevent them from sleeping in separate rooms.

"Yes. That's true." Mrs. Huo nodded. She had tricked her son into believing her.

Huo Nanchen had not given it much thought. Apart from their master bedroom, all other rooms were undergoing some repairs.

"Then where should I sleep?" Gu Ruochu felt it was best for the two of them to be separated for some time. Otherwise, it would be very awkward.

"Of course you should sleep with me. We've done everything together." Huo Nanchen was delighted by the fact that there were no available rooms.

Gu Ruochu was speechless. She could only lower her head and eat her breakfast. There was a strange feeling in her heart that she could not describe.

Qi Ru quickly finished her breakfast and got up to leave.

When she got up to leave, Huo Nanchen pulled Gu Ruochu towards his body. She sat stiffly on his lap and felt his warmth pass through her thin layer of clothing. The alluring smell from his body made her dizzy.

It was awkward. Gu Ruochu did not move. Her entire body was stiff.

"Aren't you going to the set today?"

"I am."

"I'll send you off." Huo Nanchen lowered his head and moved closer. Gu Ruochu put her hand on his chest and turned her head away, but she could not escape.

"There's no need. The driver is around."

"But I just want to send you off."

"Whatever! Let go of me!"

"Why? Is there anyone else around?"

Gu Ruochu raised her head and saw everyone had suddenly dispersed, and the house was empty. Huo Nanchen's hand suddenly landed on her chest.

Gu Ruochu was shocked by his sudden mood.

"Why are you doing that so early in the morning?"

Huo Nanchen's deep, cold eyes were filled with a sense of mischief when he saw the caution in her eyes. The curve of his lips slowly rose as if he found it a little funny.

"Are you afraid that I'll make a fool of you?"

"If you have something to say, say it. Don't use your hands and feet to act like a hooligan."

"I'm just afraid that you won't like it." His eyes were filled with warmth, and he pulled her over in amusement. He pressed her against his chest, and her heartbeat suddenly quickened.
