Ambush

Little Seppi feeling stupid and humiliated, went and informed all the big guys he knew in the area to take care of Lex.

"What? He beat up you guys in one hit...?"

Jaeshin cackled while lifting his weights.

The battle opponents kept getting more fierce than ever.

"He flashed like the wind? Wow. You're fucking with me."

Daze puffed the smoke from his mouth after taking a long swig from the e-cigarette.

"Is he some sort of human cheetah? Haha, you joke."

"What do you mean what should we do? There's only two options for people that mess with members of our gang."

Wyatt leaned back to shoot the ball on the pool table.

"It's either we put them in a hospital or make them never want to show their faces at school again."

Parker slipped on his crash helmet and rode off with his pals following after. He was the leader of the Qingguk* area gang. Green Dragon. It is a teen motorcycle gang from the Qingguk area.

While Bodie and Lex slept soundly, their enemies lay in wait for their chance to strike...

Bodie added a new tab to his list of Lex vampiric attributes that differ from his previous knowledge.

"Photographic memory..."

He mumbled it while adding a few subtags of how it works. He had made Lex practice that moves on Kevin four more times and each time he executed it perfectly.

He had planned on sleeping early but this discovery was astronomical. He took Lex back to the living room and each time Moose Lee displayed any new moves, he would pause it and tell Lex to try out the move.

And Lex executed it perfectly. Every. Single. Time.

"Bloody hell...! And here I was panicking over nothing."

Bodie rubbed his bare chin satisfied. He wanted to grow a beard as soon as he got into high school, just one month left.

He called Benson and bought a ton of books including a dictionary. Now that Lex had a photographic memory, all he had to do was Lex him read through all these books and that'll solve the learning problem.

Bodie didn't just throw everything at him like a fool. He made Lex a timetable and also gave him practice questions regularly to see if he was actually accumulating any knowledge over time.

He was right. Lex failed no questions on any subjects.

"It's great that one thing is solved."

Bodie smiled while typing away on his phone. Lex looked at his phone too. He didn't know what about it was making Bodie smile so much. Bodie had thought him how to answer calls and call someone and also, how to search for stuff on the internet.

Apart from those he was hearing weird sounds from Bodie's phone and he had his headphones on. The last time he tried to talk to him with those on, he couldn't hear him properly.

"Young master, I'm going to go and get the cup of coffee and bagel you usually have for breakfast."

Bodie's bodyguard seated next to his chauffeur, Luther, said with a lowered head.

"Yeah, sure—wait...!"

Bodie's head was buried in his game then he suddenly looked up and that halted Luther's steps.

"Yes, young master...?"

Luther opened the door to the limousine and avoided Lex's gaze. He and the others had witnessed firsthand his fighting prowess.

"Let Lex do it."

"But young master Lex doesn't..."

"The fuck...? Are you talking back to me right now?"

Bodie intercepted Luther's complaints while dragging down the headphones from his ears.

"I-I dare not, young master."

Luther stuttered timidly and took a step back to bow properly.

"Good. Now, shut up, write down the order and give him the cash."

Bodie's eyes moved back to the game but he had already lost. He was happy regardless because he beat his previous high score.

He wanted Lex to get used to human interactions as quickly as possible. It'll help him fit in. If he couldn't handle an errand as simple as this one it would be better to just lock him in the confines of the estate.

Luther handed Lex the money and returned to his seat beside the chauffeur feeling wronged. Many of them looked up to their young master despite being treated like trash. Even though Bodie had no fighting skills like his dad, it didn't matter anyway because his dad wanted him to live a normal life like any other kid his age.

To Luther, they get handsomely paid, get to work for a kid who barely uses them to clean up his messes and get to be part of the underworld mafia family. It's a win-win if you look at it like that.

Money. Fame. Power. All at the cost of dealing with one over-pampered rich brat who likes to get his way every time while earning enough to pay for a Lamborghinee* in just three months of instalments.

"Lex, all you need to do is walk into the cafe counter and read these orders to the person there. The money's complete, there's no change. So get your receipt from the guy manning the register and come back, understood?"

"Yeah."

He learned to answer Bodie casually too.

Lex collected the paper from Luther and came down from the vehicle. He walked into the cafe and met a young lady at the counter.

"Good morning, what would you like to order?"

She said with a cloying smile while tucking an imaginary lock of hair behind her ears. Lex was easy on the eyes and she wanted to talk to him a bit before he left.

"I'd like to have a caramel macchiato and a pumpernickel bagel to go?"

Lex read the order smoothly and raised his head with a grin. The lady blushed thinking he was intentionally smiling seeing as she was trying to flirt with him but actually he was glad he got the pronunciations right in one go.

"Sure, wait a minute."

She was quick in getting it ready because she thought that he was the one who was eating it.

"I also added a few—"

"Oi, Lexie...!!"

Jaeshin and his pals were patrolling the area to rub some unsuspecting middle schoolers on their way to school when they happened to notice him.

He looked just like the picture Seppi gave them for identifying him.

Lex didn't know any of the students even though they were also in his school uniform. So he ignored them and collected the paper bag containing Bodie's breakfast. He handed the lady the money and as he turned around Jaeshin slapped the drink and pastry from his hands.

It clattered and spilt on the beige tiles.

"Did you just ignore me? You sick fuck follow us to the alley this instant...!"
