Chapter 11: Fear of The Unknown

4 days have slowly passed, with Roman training almost every waking moment possible.

Holmes came up with a plan that would truly put him through the ringer, putting his willpower and endurance completely over the concept of a limit.

He only spent 4 hours sleeping, which Holmes noticed was more than enough after the first day, most likely due to his higher Intelligence, making him lower the time by another hour.

He's been putting the highest amount of stress possible on his body, eating as much food as possible, and even going so far as doing yoga in order to train his dexterity.

He also experimented with his Chambers ability to create things by attempting to form an increased gravitational field in his room in order to better adapt to possible gravitational differences between planets. Whether for good or bad, he succeeded.

All of these drastic measures were taken by him, due to the horrifying content he found in the so-called introductory booklet Holmes scanned and downloaded for him.

Since then, he's been training like a mad-man, almost going so far as trying to harm himself in order to get some form of reaction from his physique, since it only acted once in response to his curse.

His curse acted up every day in moments when he was training, and the pain was incomprehensible to him. He now knows what it feels like to be stabbed, frozen, minced, and skinned throughout his entire being.

Especially on the third day, since he never knew how horrible it was to have your cells feel like they were being blended into juice. His physique only reacted the first time, granting him a pretty decent resistance to being stabbed.

He tested it with his kitchen knife, which resulted in him having to put a decent amount of force in order to be able to give him a minor wound.

Holmes tried calculating it using the existing parameters, only to inform Roman that a person who only used his body and nothing else would need at least a 5.4 in strength in order to be able to cut him.

Although he knew he should just sit for 4 hours in order to let the pain go away, that he could slack off and no one would blame him, the contents of that booklet were literally embedded within his brain forever unless he explicitly tells Holmes to delete that memory, fueling him to not even have an ounce of rest, even when sleeping.

While 3 hours were indeed reserved for sleeping, he had Holmes try and come up with a way for him to train while asleep like in those Sci-Fi books he used to read, resulting in Holmes using his processing power to create a Virtual Domain, where he can only fight himself.

Theoretically, Holmes could recreate a virtual copy of anyone from his past life that he's met, and even their techniques, including any type of environment from his memories.

But he doesn't have such memories unfortunately. He never left his hospital often, so he hasn't experienced much of the world.

So, he was constantly fighting a copy of himself that possessed all of his current abilities, same exact physical parameters, but almost perfect techniques in the forms that he was practicing in his training, while he was supposed to be sleeping.

The only thing keeping him sane from such inhumane torture was Holmes, who tried to administer some therapeutic forms of activities to do at least 30 minutes every day.

When that wasn't enough, he even had to replay some of his warmest memories of his parents in the form of a camera roll in the back of his head, so that his mind doesn't break down.

This all leads to Roman, practicing his natural shooting capabilities and {Super Speed}, in another form of his chamber that he willed into existence to give it a sniper shootout style, while under 2.4x the natural gravity of Earth.

{Owner: Roman Zackery (Human), Age - 22, Weight - 100.4 lbs. > 130.8 lbs. , Height - 5'6" > 5'8"

<Soul and Body Parameters>: Strength - 1.4 > 6.3 ; Endurance - 4 > 8.7 ; Dexterity - 4 > 7.2 ; Energy - 4 > 12.3 ; Intelligence - 20.2 > 24.1 ; Willpower - 25.2 > 37.4 ; Spirit - 0 (Locked: Insufficient Information)}

Although it may seem like he's getting stronger fast, and his parameters show it, Roman knew better than to remain so naïve once again.

His growth still means nothing in the face of reality and all of its horrors.

And that damn timer was hovering there, just to constantly remind him of how long he has left until he makes first contact with said horrors.
