Chapter Twenty-Three

—Nathan Gregg—

The new moon is near and I will be the next alpha of our pack. I cuddle to her nuzzling my nose to her ear. She giggles and stopping me from tickling her. I love doing this to her. I am excited because tomorrow night will be my night. I wanted her to be there and to be declared as our Luna.

'Tomorrow night will be a new moon and you will also declare as the Luna.' I whispered to her ear. She stopped and didn't say a thing. 'What's wrong? Don't you want to be the Luna?'

'Nate... I have my responsibilities.'

'What responsibilities? I am your mate and your Alpha. I need my Luna.'

'You don't understand.'

'Okay, I know. You are not ready yet. Whatever... you are still our Luna.' I kissed her neck.

'Zoë!' Keynes stopped from the door when he saw us. I sat up and waves at him. We are not doing anything. We are just cuddling. 'Seriously? It was just two in the afternoon and too early for that.'

'What? We are just cuddling. Not having sex.' Zoë rolled her eyes.

'Okay go home now buddy we got something to do.' Keynes told me. I kissed her on the lips and rambles on the bed then I run downstairs.

What are they going to do? It makes me curious. My father had called a pack meeting so we all go there. I was at his right hand while my mom is at his left with his Beta and Gama. On my right are my Beta and Gama too. Natasha is sitting beside mom. Keynes didn't show up. Maybe it was too important. Also, the Blue Moon packs are not here too.

'Tomorrow will be the ritual for our new Alpha and Beta and Gama. The security will be tight around our town while we are having the ritual. The ritual will go on with or without the Luna. It was the Alpha's responsibility. Then on the next two days will be the Blue Moon Princess's 18th birthday. Everyone is invited to the Kingdom for one night. But there are still people who will be left here to guard our territory.

'Seferis' army will come and attack anytime and anywhere. No one knew when the Princess had come back or where she comes from. It was her safety. Now, the Kingdom will be strong for her comeback. The security there will be tight too so no one can come closer to the Princess except to Alpha's and their commanders.

'The Ministers and Lords had decided that she will be crowned as the Alpha of the whole packs if her mate didn't accept her and the throne. She will still be in the position of Queen and as King if ever she is mate-less.' He declares reading the letter.

If the Princess is mate-less who will be the heir? There gotta be an heir. I hope that she found her mate. Though she is cursed to be mate-less we are still hoping that she had one. But I stopped thinking about the Princess as mate-less. Then Zoë comes into my mind. She always told me that she was mate-less. It was just too confusing. But I found her and she wasn't mate-less.

It's also impossible that she's the Princess because Zoe is mated to me. It is also possible that she is the Princess. Now, this is making me dizzy.

Keynes is waiting for me from the outside of the packhouse.

'Hey,'

'I need to talk to you privately.' I followed him to the corner. 'You see my mission here is long finished.'

'What mission?' I asked him narrowing my eyes.

'My mission here is to find the cure and I found it. I also didn't expect that I will find my mate which is your sister. I was given a mission to find the cure for the Princess of Blue Moon. For over years of searching for the cure, it was just here.'

'What cure?'

'It was the cure of breaking the curse of the Princess. Everybody knows that she suffers a lot from other mates' rejection.'

'Okay, you are confusing me.'

'I need to go now.' He nods and left me hanging from his words.

I woke up in the morning and my daily routine is calling her phone and peeks on her window. But there is no single ring I heard. I can't contact her. The curtains of her windows are closed. I jog downstairs and found dad talking to his phone. Then when he saw me he ended the call.

'Keynes and the rest of Blue Moon leave early in the morning.' He told.

'What?!' I run to the other house and open it. It was unlocked. Then I run to her room. Everything is cleared and some of her things are still there but lots of important things about her are gone.

She left us... Tobias cries.

'No! We are still going to see her and bring her back here!' I growl at my wolf. I run outside and shifted into my wolf form. I run around our territory and still mad about her leaving me, without saying any word.

This was supposed to be the happiest day of my life to be the new Alpha and her as my mate and Luna. But this turns into a nightmare. Does the dream we shared mean like this? Did she have to leave me? I am not approving it. If I have to kidnap her and mated to her I will do it just for her not to leave me. I am hopeless here wanting my mate back.

I went back to our house in my wolf form. I don't want to appear there naked.

'Tobias!' Natasha shrieks. I startled her maybe. I just pushed the open door of my room and then I shifted to my human form. 'Nathan! Tobias! Don't be sad about it. We are going to the Kingdom in two days. You will see her soon.' She said from outside of my room to cheer me up.

I just went to my bathroom and let the warm water runs on my body. After I had taken a bath and put my clothes on I went downstairs to eat something. My mother gave me her best homemade pancake.

'Honey, you have to understand her. She got a big responsibility.'

'I understand that she had responsibilities but I just don't get it. How big is her responsibility?' I cut a big piece of pancake and eat it.

'You'll understand soon.'

'There is something you are not telling me? What is it, mother?'

She avoids eye contact.

'Eat all of that and you will understand what I am implying. For now, it is confidential.'

It was eight in the evening and we are waiting for New Moon to come out. There is a bone fire in the middle of the woods and everyone is gathered. I looked at my mom and she smiled at me.

'Do you, Nathan Gregg accept the position as the Alpha of this pack?'

'I do.'

'Do you, Nathan Gregg accept the responsibility of the Alpha from protecting his pack from danger?'

'I do.'

'Do you, Nathan Gregg accept to bow down to the Princess of the Blue Moon?'

'I do.' It was the last in the ritual to accept our Princess, King, and Queen. If you didn't accept it as an Alpha you and your packs will never belong to the part of Blue moon and you will be known as a rogue, just like our main enemy.

My father cut his palm and I cut mine. Then we embrace each other's right hand and our blood united.

'Alpha Nathan the new Alpha of New Moon!' my father declares. My Second in command and third in command howls on the moon. And then some of our people had shifted to their wolf form and howls on the moon.

I shifted and howls to the moon. They bow at me to show respect and accept me as their new Alpha. The ritual party goes on and everyone is having fun celebrating. Rush, my cousin runs to me. I was already in my human form wearing a pair of jeans.

'Alpha Nathan!' I carried him into my arms.

'Hey, there little man.' I looked at the necklace that he is wearing. It was made of roots of a tree and inside is a bluestone. 'What's this?' I asked him holding it.

'Nanny Zoë gave it to me. She said it will protect me from evils.' I smiled at it.

'She did?' he nods at me. I know that Zoë is babysitting him. She loves kids as I do.

'She said that I have to watch over you if you ever choose another lady to be your mate.'

'She said that?' I feel hopeless listening to this little man.

'Yup! She said that if there's another rejection, the Blue Moon Princess might die and she won't able reigns the Kingdom and to protect us.'

'What else did she say?'

'Hmm...' he thinks scratching his head. 'She told me not to ever reject and break my mate's heart. Then she gave lots of kisses.' He smiled happily to remember all of those things.

On the first day of my responsibility as an Alpha, I had been checking lots of papers and e-mails from other packs. Some need our help because of the rogues trying to attack them. I sent some of my people to that pack then I called other powerful packs to help them.

I checked on the kids on the training studio where they are having sparring in martial arts that Keynes had taught them. Now, Yves is teaching them as the new sensei. Every weekend I checked on the teens and other adults that are in training. They seemed lousy when the Blue Moon had left.

'Focus!' I shout at them. 'You all need to focus! I don't want this training to be lousy though the Blue Moons are not here. We are known as one of the strongest Packs in the Kingdom and around the world. Now, I wanted you to prove it!'

They did focus. I need to inspire them more.

'The Princess of Blue Moon is back and we need to help each other and protect each other from those rogues who are willing to eat you in your human form. They are mentally and physically sick because of the virus that occupies their mind and soul.

'You can defend yourself from them. Our Physicist had makes an antidote for the virus. It's the blood from our hybrid people they can cure it. So, if you wanted to meet your mate or see your mates you have to be strong because every one of us will go to the Blue Moon Kingdom to celebrate and to welcome back our Future Queen. Are we clear?!'

'Yes, Alpha Nate!' the chorus and the training didn't turn lousy now. It was all of their strength coming out. Their abilities are improving too.
