Chapter Fourteen

I sprained my foot and was transported to and from school by Jacob.

Well, someone got to see Bella a lot more because of it. I heard from Quil that Jacob was almost late both days, and I didn't need my head to figure out why.

Upon arriving at school, Alice and Rosalie would take care of me without fail, that's right, without fail.

Alice, I don't know if she had lit up her apple-peeling skills that day in the hospital room, would make sure to pick a red apple to peel for me after lunch.

Rosalie, Rosalie was a little angry at me for getting hurt again, especially when she bumped into me jumping up the stairs, eyeing me so much that I was too scared to speak at once, but she didn't get mad at me.

Angry at me, but she helped me down the stairs. Her hands were especially steady, just a little cold, just like Alice's.

Later on, she would help me carry my textbooks, walk me to class, and help me carry my lunch box, even though I emphasized that it was only my leg, she still took care of me as if I had a broken leg.

There were some things that I would have found normal if Alice had done them because Alice was always warm and lively, but having the cold Rosalie do them surprised me no matter how many times.

But I got used to it after a lot of time. Emmett would sometimes be jealous of me twice with his mouth, but after sharing two tarts and then patting himself on the back that he could be the one to go to in the future, well, well, I'll just pretend that I didn't see Ross pinching his thighs under the table.

For the Cullens, I was touched with a hint of helplessness and could only return their kindness by making delicious food differently.

Bella and I spent almost all of our lunchtime with the Cullens since I don't know when.

The last class of the morning was my favorite physics class, so I packed up my textbooks and limped out the door, and sure enough, I saw Rosalie, and Emmett waiting for me at the door.

"Lancy, did you find a date for this dance?" Alice asked as I pulled out my chair and sat down, and then she pushed her way over to me.

"Prom?" I drifted off, almost forgetting that there was such a ball, my eyes sweeping over Alice and Jasper's hands clasped, Rosalie's shoulders being held by Emmett.

and... Edward and Bella stare at each other if anything.

"So, it's just me alone now?" It was a terrible feeling, and I had to admit that I was devastated.

"No, me too...." Hey, hey, hey, hey, Bella, if you had said that while assuming

It would have been a little more convincing if you hadn't stolen a glance at Edward.

Hey Edward, could you please stop staring at Bella like that? It's going to give me very bad associations.

"I'll just not attend then." I rested my chin on the table and sighed.

"That's not going to work!" The one who reacted the most was Alice; she loved the prom the most."

Lancy, how am I supposed to pick out your dress if you don't go to it?" Oh yes, and matching dresses.

"You have to try that new gown I got this time with those silver heels," Alice said about the heels, and I felt a vague pain in my heels.

"Oh~ Bella, I don't get to choose your gown; Edward will get it ready for you.

"Alice winked at Bella prominently.

"Alice," Edward called out to Alice in chagrin, who spat out her tongue.

They quickly quieted down, though; all words were superfluous until lunch.

"Lancy, I enjoyed lunch today." Alice had only just wiped her mouth and said she was sticking out her tongue to lick her lips.

"Lancy, when is your leg going to be ready?" Alice asked.

"Probably another week." I moved my ankle, and the bruise on my leg wasn't the worst; the limp was all because of the sprain.

"Lancy, are you sure you don't want to go to the prom?" Alice had a pitying look on her face.

"It just so happened that I sprained my foot, and I didn't find a date." I shrugged unconcernedly.

Alice's eyes twinkled, her index finger tapped her chin, and she asked me in a sincere tone, "There are a lot of little treats at the prom. I heard that the school hired an outside dessert maker to make them. Lancy, are you sure you don't want to come?"

I coughed lightly twice and took Alice's hand, moving my lips under her convinced gaze, "That, you can go to the prom without a partner... I can sit and watch you guys dance, yeah, that's right, that's it. "

"I'll take care of your dress then." Alice grinned from her lips in a very broad smile as she snapped her fingers, "It's a deal, yah, Lancy!"

"Okay..." I nodded weakly.

After school in the afternoon, I didn't see Bella or Edward; Emmett said they had skipped class. I remembered the look in Edward's eyes at lunchtime and quietly mourned Jacob's soon-to-be-ended crush in my mind.

After saying goodbye to Alice and the others, I clicked on a small cookie in front of the school while waiting for the familiar little pickup truck.

"Lancy!" Jacob walked towards me, naturally taking my book bag and lunch box.

"That Quil guy, he's been bugging me," he said, and I realized that Jacob was already going to be a head taller than me. The guy was growing up fast; I couldn't help but sigh.

"Pestering you about what?" I asked casually.

He helped me towards the pickup truck and put his stuff in it. "Pestering to grab my lunch—I don't know where he learned that, something is disgusting about pouting.

I imagined Quil's gruff exterior for a moment and laughed out loud as I looked down.

"What about you? Jacob, do you pout?" I climbed into the car seat and smiled, squeezing my eyes at him.

"No way; don't ever expect me to pout like a puppy dog." Jacob shivered, quite unable to take it in himself. He patted my head, and I pushed my hand away.

I listened to Jacob in the car as he talked about the fun day at school and how Harry had gone fishing with Billy. "By the way, Billy came back yesterday and told me that Sue invited you over for dinner and asked me to take you over. Such a sudden invitation didn't prepare me at all. My hands were moving faster than my brain, and I picked up my hand and whacked Jacob twice on the shoulder. "Why didn't you say anything ahead of time?"

"Lancy, have you noticed that you're getting more and more...

"What are you trying to say?" My eyes turned to him, and he closed his mouth.

"What about this? I don't have any presents; all I have in my book bag are dried cranberries that I didn't finish today!" I blinked in bewilderment before covering my face and screaming.

"Lancy, it doesn't need to be so formal." Jacob couldn't understand my chagrin.

"You usually always ask me to bring Harry little treats, and they've been wanting to invite you over to the house for a while, only to put it off and put it off when they couldn't find the right time, and yesterday it was Billy's

It was Billy's idea yesterday.

"It's nothing; Harry had fried fish for me too." I pulled my hair out in distress. I didn't know Sue well; I'd only met her a couple of times, and I'd heard that Harry had two other children, neither of whom I'd ever met.

Children, neither of which I had ever met.

"Hey Lancy, take it easy; it's nothing." Jacob tugged on my hand to keep me from pulling my hair out. "Just think of it as going to my house for dinner, no less." He really

Didn't see what there was to be excited about; Lancy didn't see it when she went to his house.

"We'll just have to make up the gift tomorrow," I murmured as I looked ahead.

Jacob, the heartless guy, was still laughing and so angry that I wanted to whack him again.

"Wait, what's that?" I rolled down the window and looked in shock at a couple of people on the cliff as they playfully pushed another person off the cliff.

"It's cliff diving." Jacob looked away and withdrew his gaze. "It's Sam and them.

"Is that Embry?" I squinted my eyes in recognition, a little unsure, and twisted my head to look at Jacob.

"Yep, that's him. " Jacob exhaled, "It's weird; we somehow became what we are now as if they were the ones who were in on it, and he suddenly left us."

"Was the cliff diving fun?" I misdirected the conversation, pretending to be interested in cliff diving.

"It was exciting, Lancy. Would you like to try it? " Jacob asked with a grin, "Would you dare?"

"Hey, don't underestimate me; I'll try it sometime in the future." I raised my chin and raised an eyebrow at him smugly.

I hadn't forgotten that I was Lancy now, it's just that I wanted him to be happy, and I knew it would amuse him.

He did give the smile I wanted to see, a bright forked sunny smile like the one I had when I first met him, "Then I will witness the moment. " He said.
