Chapter 3: Dead End

Another four years passed since my mother told me that

she will teach magic

During that year, I just lazed around,

Be spoiled and read about hero books my mother loves.

Father went out into the jungle to hunt for food again

While my mother is swiping leafs the backyard.

"This is boring," I said while staring at the sky.

After finishing cleaning the backyard, my mother called me.

"Shall we start?" said mother.

'Hehe, yes! finally, after all these years.'

"Yes, please"

"First, let's see your mana, turn around."

I turned around.

mother started to stroke my back

It's a bit sensitive.

but I didn't resist

"Mhmm.." said mother

'What? What is it? Is it good? Do I have a lot of mana?'

These thoughts made me excited

It made me feel like a protagonist of a story

"How was it?"

"Not good, not bad." said mother

'What does she mean by that?'

"Uhmm. what does that mean?" I said

"A normal one," said mother feeling down.

'What's wrong about normal? Is it bad?'

These though plague my mind.

"You can learn basic magic but not a middle or high tier one," said the mother

'Shit! Dead end already, normal guy till the end then.'

Feeling down, my mother hugged me.

"Ahh. my sweet baby boy, it's ok to be normal, you know."

But still, magic is magic.

I still want to learn them.

My enthusiasm can't stop me.

"It's ok, mother. Can you at least teach me basic magic?"

"Of course"
