House arrest

After breakfast, Li Wei Shu thanked Xue Changmin again and left to go home. She wanted to go home and freshen up before coming back to take Xia Biming home with her. Her baby was sick, and she needed to take care of her!

This left only Xue Changmin and Xia Biming in the room. "Xia Biming, do you remember why I was at your condo last night?"

She shook her head. She lied. She remembered the conversation, but she wanted to avoid it. Too bad for her, Xue Changmin was going to bring it up no matter what.

"Xia Biming, I went there last night to tell you that I was serious about what we talked about over dinner last week. I meant what I said, and I still do. What you saw at the mall was just me treating my little sister. It's not like what you may be thinking." He declared for himself.

"What do you assume I am thinking then?"

"Uh… well you must have thought we were on a date. But we weren't! She's like a little sister to me, her name is Han Roushan and her mom asked me to take her to the mall. It was completely innocent."

"It doesn't matter what you are to her or what she is to you. I stand firm on my decision. I'm and very thankful towards your kindness but I just want to focus on Jade Atelier."

"But you can't! The doctor said you need to lighten your workload. You over work yourself without enough rest. It can be detrimental if you don't take care of yourself." Xue Changmin was genuinely worried about her and remembered what the doctor told him.

"Thank you for your worries, my mom will help take care of me. Thank you for the meal, it was delicious. I'll be sure to pay you back for it." Xia Biming said. She then tried to stand up but when her feet touched the ground, they couldn't hold her weight.

Her vision went dizzy and her entire body fell to one side. Xue Changmin rushed up beside her and caught her by the waist before she fell further. "Be careful! Why are you in such a rush to leave?"

"I'm not in a rush to leave, I just need to use the restroom!" Xia Biming mustered up enough energy to raise her tone.

He helped her to the door of the restroom, "I'll wait out here for you. Take your time."

Feeling embarrassed, she locked the door and washed her face before using the toilet. She wasn't sure if it was because Xue Changmin was standing outside, but she had a hard time tinkling. After she finally relieved herself, she washed her hands and headed out.

As he said, he was waiting for her by the door and helped her back into her hospital bed. He even tucked her in before sitting on the couch again.

It didn't take long for the three Xia family members to make their way to the hospital again. It was about 10 am when they reached. The time was just before noon when the doctors allowed Xia Biming to be discharged after following up and instructing her on how to take care of herself.

For the following week, she took a sick leave and stayed in the Xia family mansion where she could be looked after 24/7. She felt like she had been put in house arrest. The only thing she found joy in was when Fang An Xi would visit her. They would gossip late into the night and some nights Fang An Xi stayed with her.

She strolled the gardens during the mornings, watched TV during the afternoons, and chatted with her family in the evenings. She was able to relax, something she hadn't done in a long time. She felt bad since her brother and father were still going to work and coming home tired. But they wouldn't let her help them with their paperwork at home.

When the week was finally over, she was so excited to leave the mansion. She would miss spending time with her family, but she missed her freedom more. The first thing she did that Saturday morning she left the mansion was make a park date with Ning Xue and Fang An Xi both.

The weather was warm and sunny. The breeze wasn't too strong either. Unlike last time, Xia Biming dressed more conservatively since her body had just recovered.

The girls found a nice spot in the park and rolled out their yoga mats to stretch on. They began chatting and gossiping as they did their stretches.

The first to speak was Fang An Xi, "Hey Biming, I heard that Zhao Liling caused a disturbance at your spring collection open. Is it true?"

"Yeah. I don't know if they left her brain at home, but she was acting all high and mighty. She even had the audacity to tell me that she could ruin me because of her status as a model!"

The three girls all broke out in laughter, "As if she could!" Ning Xue retorted. "She could barely get your used tissue."

"Hahaha! Xue, you're so right!" Fang An Xi cackled louder.

"You two are ridiculous. I had the security escort them out. A dog has more manners than those two. At least a dog doesn't bite the hand that feeds it."

They continued roasting the backstabbing couple before changing the topic, "Hey Ming, are you going to gala next week?"

"What gala? I haven't been at work, so I haven't been able to see any mail invites. And mom didn't want to stress me out this past week."

"Oh, it's the gala of the season! The Guo family is holding the charity gala to raise money to support the many orphanages in the country." Fang An Xi let Biming know of the gala.

"Hmm. Mom didn't tell me; I'll have to ask if she's going. I'll probably go with her."

"Okay, make sure you ask her, we can go dress shopping together later!" An Xi excitedly stated.

The girls finished their exercise activity in the park without any interruptions. They finished just after noon and went to grab lunch together. Wanting to keep it light, they went to a trending health café and all ordered nutritious and healthy foods.

When Xia Biming finally made it to her penthouse, she called her mom to ask about the gala. "Hey Momma, what are you doing?"

"I just had lunch with your grandmother, is everything okay? Is the cold coming back?" The worry in her voice could clearly be heard.

"No mom, I'm fine. An Xi told me about the Guo's charity gala next weekend. Are you and dad going? I might tag a long with you. I want some new jewelry."

"Oh honey, I forgot to ask you. I'm so sorry. But your father and I are going to be out of town next weekend. I was going to send you with your brother to attend it on our behalf. I'm glad you asked me."

Mother Xia was actually really happy that her daughter wanted to attend on her own accord.
