Selmas frowns. “I thought Wister took it.”
He thinks that it’s a perfectly reasonable question, but Jigen looks at him as though he’s just pointed out the color of the sky. “They did the physical stealing, yes, but do you think it was their idea?”
That’s also a fair point, and Selmas has been wondering about it since they found out Wister was behind the whole thing. If Wister had always had the time, people, and capabilities to steal the Bloodstone, then the fact that they hadn’t already done it meant that either they were much sneakier than Selmas had given them credit for, or much stupider.
“Mordyn told them to,” Selmas says slowly. “You’re not from Mordyn, are you?”
“No,” Aisling says. “We’re... from Nutuk.” She says this carefully, like it’s not the whole truth.
“Then what do you have to do with the Bloodstone?”
