Chapter 29: Jigen and Aisling
Selmas panics, just slightly. He chops his sword down through the air, nearly taking off the hand that grabbed him, but the person is quick, and releases him, stepping back before Selmas can do any damage.
“Calm down!” a voice says from behind him. “Or, even better, run!”
Selmas yelps as he’s shoved unceremoniously forward, and the same hand grabs onto his wrist. He can see a flash of dark hair below his eye line—someone shorter than him, then—before he’s being pulled forward, having to stick his sword awkwardly in the air to keep it from slicing into his own legs.
It’s a mad dash down the street, a turned corner, a slip behind a tall brick building, and then they’re panting in an alleyway, and Selmas finally is able to get a good look at who has, quite possibly, kidnapped him.
