Chapter 1: The Wanderer

Solo had always done one thing his entire life: Travel.

As an infant, he was placed in care of a different person every week.

As a toddler, he was thrown into an orphanage.

As a little kid, he was traded from foster home to foster home.

As a teenager, he was constantly being forgotten by old friends, and meeting new ones.

As an adult, he was constantly hired and fired, from job to job.

As an old man, he stayed in homeless shelter after homeless shelter, never able to get enough to fill his stomach.

As a human being, Solo never once felt he belonged on Earth.

As he let out his last breath, Solo wished he had been allowed to travel the world, and yet still be included as a part of it, like everyone else.

---------------------------

A blue flame lit in an endless darkness.

"Where am I?"

The blue flame didn't hear a response, however it felt something change within it.

[Welcome to the Wanderer's System! You are currently dead awaiting revival.]

[Please select a name.]

When the robotic voice finished speaking, Solo hesitated in responding, as he didn't understand what was going on. Is this the afterlife? Revival? Is he going to brought back to life? In the end, he just chose the nickname everyone always gave him during his life.

"Solo."

[Name "Solo" has been selected. Is this correct?]

"Yes."

[Solo has been registered as user's name.]

[Please select starting system package:

- Basic

- Combat

- Shopping

- Lottery

- Life

- Advanced

- Moral

- ??????

- ??????]

Solo thought about the options, and decided to just stick with basic.

[Basic package will be the starting package. Is this correct?]

"Yes."

[System's starting package has been selected.]

[This is the preview of your System.]

[Name: Solo

Package: Basic

Points: 0]

[You will start with 100 points. Complete certain tasks or requirements to earn more points.]

[Please select the universe you will be transported to:

- Modern

- Fantasy

- Futuristic

- Horror

- Historical

- ???

- Randomly Chosen]

Solo hesitated on what to pick. Horror didn't appeal to him, nor did Historical. It was a tough decision between Modern, Fantasy, and Futuristic however.

"Can I explore other universes, or is this choice permanent?" He asked. If it was permanent, Solo would rather return to a Modern universe, as he would at least be experienced in everything there.

[You can travel to another universe by exchanging 1 million Points at any time.]

If he had a jaw, it would hit the floor, but at least it wasn't permanent. Solo then thought about something.

"What about System packages?"

[Additional packages for your System cost 1 thousand Points per package. After your System has three packages, the cost increases to 5 thousand Points per package.]

Solo felt like that might be interesting.

"I choose a Modern universe."

[Modern universe selected. Is this correct?]

"Yes."

[Please select a revival option:

- Revive previous body

- Revive as a random infant

- Revive as a younger version of option 1]

"Third option.]

[Revive as a younger version of previous body. Is this correct?]

"Yes."

[Reviving user as per selections chosen.]

Solo instantly felt an undescribable pain unlike anything he'd ever imagined, until a bright light filled his eyes.

"Get out of the road you idiot!" The driver of the car in front yelled at him. Solo looked around and found he was in the middle of a city. He quickly got on out of the road, and onto the sidewalk.

Finding a store with a glass wall, Solo saw a version of himself in his pre-teens. He could be but 12 or 13 years old. The clothes on his body were a T Shirt, a zipped hoodie, a scarf, blue jeans, long socks and a pair of sneakers.

Solo laughed hesterically for a few minutes in total shock before he noticed the weird stares those nearby gave him.

He wondered where his new system was, but it instantly appeared as a semi translucent menu screen in front of him.

[Name: Solo

Package: Basic

Points: 100]

With that, Solo realized he forgot to ask how Points worked. Based on how he could spend them, it seemed like they were for activating certain things or upgrading his system.

He immediately tried to use 5 Points to increase his luck using his thoughts.

[Gain +5% Luck for 1 minute, or +1% Luck for 5 minutes?]

Solo laughed at his 'lucky' guess and chose the first option.

[5 Points deducted. 95 Points remaining.]

[+5% Luck gained for 1 minute.]

...

[1 minute has passed. Luck bonus has expired.]

In that one minute, Solo managed to find four stacks of cash lying in random places in the city. $41 in a dumpster totally clean. $57 lying on the sidewalk. $8 falling from the sky. $84 dollars inside one of his shoes.

He quickly realized with the sizable amount of cash in his hands, that this was both extremely awesome but also very dangerous.

[Would you like to convert currency into Points? 50% conversion rate.]

Solo couldn't really do the math well in his head, so he just chose to convert half the money and keep the rest.

[$95 converted into 47 Points.]

He checked his system again.

[Name: Solo

Package: Basic

Points: 142]

Finding a nearby fast food restaurant, Solo ate some food while thinking about the various things he could do with the points. He then wondered that if the Basic system package was this useful, then the other ones must be crazy powerful.

When he got up and left the restaurant, Solo realized he didn't have a car.

'System, can I use my points to get a car?'

[Host requires Shopping or Lottery packages to use desired feature]

Solo sighed, and began walking around the city leisurely.
