Chapter 36 Going to CA

The next day, John woke his girls up early, but he let Sarah sleep in. He brought his girls out into the field and said, "I need to go to California."

Amy said, "Why?"

John answered, "I have to find someone. I knew them before the walkers, and I want to go and see if they are still alive".

Maggie said with tears in her eyes, "Are you leaving us?"

John said, "Yes, you will be safe her and I will be back within a week, 4 at tops. This is really important to me."

Maggie said, "Are we not important enough?"

John said, "NO! I love you both. I don't want to leave you behind, but I want you to be safe".

Amy said, "Why can't we come with you?"

John said, "You need to care for Sarah. Also, it is going to be dangerous, and I don't want to put you in that situation."

Amy and Maggie looked at John and his sincere hazel eyes and couldn't resist. They accepted to let John go but he had to be back within 4 weeks. When he came back, he also had to make them pregnant.

John hearing the first condition was okay but hearing the second John was shocked, he didn't know that Amy and Maggie both wanted to have a baby.

Knowing that accepting these conditions was the only way for him to go on his trip without them getting mad at him. John said with a smirk, "Be ready when I get back then. Because I won't stop until you are pregnant. John then kissed them both passionately and then he walked with them back to the tower where he woke up Sarah and told her that he would be gone for a while, so she had to behave for mommy Amy and Maggie.

After he was done explaining to his girls, he went to Rick. When he arrived in front of Rick, John said, "Follow me, I have something to discuss with you."

Rick just nodded and followed John to the corner of the field, facing a small pond.

John said, "I'm leaving today."

Rick was surprised and said, "Leaving?"

John seeing that Rick had no idea what he was trying to say, said, "I'm going to California. I have someone there that I want to make sure is okay. I will probably also bring that person back here, along with their family."

Rick now understanding said, "Okay. When will you be back? This group needs you."

John said, "I will be back within 4 weeks, and I won't leave again for many months."

Rick hearing this said, "Alright then, be careful out there."

Rick was turning around to leave when John grabbed his should and pulled him close. John said, "Please take care of Amy, Maggie and Sarah. Also, I hid a bag of guns that I looted form the guards of the prison under my old bed, in the cell. I forgot to give it to you earlier.

Rick looked at John in the eye and said, "I'll take care of them for you and thanks for letting me know about the guns."

John said, "No problem, also be careful around the little back prisoner, he seems like a devious person to me, the rest are solid. Goodbye, Rick."

Rick said, "Thank you for letting me know. Take care, John."

With his affairs in order John leaves the prison after a final goodbye with his family. Running a couple miles down the street, John arrived at a small gas station. At the gas station there were a couple cars that looked to be in good shape, so John went toward one, an SUV. He hotwired the car and started it, checking the gas level, John saw it was almost empty.

John got out of the SUV and summoned a gas can from the system and filled the car till full. Putting the gas can in Eden, John got into the SUV and using his Map, started to drive toward Los Angeles. John drove his car for 45 hours straight, before he arrived there. It took an extra 13 hours because John had to take different backroads sometimes. John had also stopped and killed some walkers that were in his way.

John drove for a while and then he stopped up on a hill, he could see some blue, red, and yellow dots spread throughout the city. The blue dot were neutral humans, the red dots were walkers, and the yellow dots were hostile humans. Looking at one place on the map in particular, John could see a neighborhood. Within this neighborhood there were many blue dots, but they were surrounded by yellow dots. Surprisingly, there were no red dots within the immediate vicinity of this place, it was clear of walkers for about 2 miles in each direction.

John decided to head to this place, he camped up on a hill near it and summoned a SASS M110, semi auto sniper rifle and looked down and over the neighborhood. He saw a kid standing on the roof and was reflecting a light at him. Looking closely at the boy, he looked to be in his late teens. He had black hair, which was medium length and black eyes.

John stopped looking at him and moved from the window he was in. John then changed his clothes to a tank top, black jeans, and red shoes.

John decided he would store his sniper in Eden, keeping his pistol and his knife, then he would sneak into the neighborhood. John then waited for night while observing the neighborhood, looking for houses that no one was staying in. John found one and waited for it to get dark. He left the SUV there on the hill and then ran up to the fence that surrounded the neighborhood. He climbed the fence quietly and quickly, once on the other side he snuck to one of the houses he had seen was empty.

When he got there, he went in through the back door. He then searched around the house and found that the people that lived here were very wealthy. The house was filled with expensive things, from art and artifacts to fancy clothes.

John went to one of the beds and decided to sleep, it had been a boring drive over and he didn't want to wait all night for day to come once again.
