Cleared

In the end if Hershel was delusional and couldn't accept the fact that walkers were dead then he would just put a bullet in his brain. Simple.

Walking back to the camp I saw the others tense and worried but they looked a little relieved to see me.

"So what's the plan?" Daryl asked and everyone else looked over at me.

"3 hours for Rick to give Hershel a heads up before we're clearing the barn regardless. Get ready."

Everybody looked like they agreed with the statement but he wouldn't have cared if they didn't.

He was willing to compromise on some things but not this.

"Shane!" He looked over and saw the sisters coming over to him.

"Can we help clear the barn of walkers?" Amy asked while biting her lip.

"Sure. Follow me, I'll let you shoot a few times to get used to the gun."

"Shane! Can I come to!" Sophia ran over with her mom running after her making me chuckle.

"Sure." He spotted everyone else looking over as well.

"Fine, you can all come."

"Crack!"

"Good!" Shane patted Amy on the back when she shot the can off the fence.

"You and your sister are naturals."

Amy and Andrea smiled at each other before going back to shooting.

"Bang!"

Shane chuckled when Sophia hurriedly put the gun down.

"Haha! Don't worry when you get a little older you will be able to handle it."

"You really think uncle Shane?" Sophia pouted

"Of course!"

Shane also helped Glenn and a few others get better at shooting before finally almost three hours passed and everyone started going to the barn with me in the lead.

Finally they were in front of the barn and everyone could hear the walkers banging on the barn door.

"Shane, stop!" Rick's voice could be heard from a distance and they all turned around to see Rick with Hershel, Otis and the rest of his family.

"I already told you Rick, we are clearing this barn no matter what."

"This is my farm boy!" Hershel yelled at him.

"Shane Hershel's family is in there. He thinks they're sick." Rick came up to me.

"Listen Rick I know you wanna compromise with him but you wouldn't be doing him any good. He needs to realize how things really are. After all, we know the truth."

Rick looked like he wanted to retort before he just nodded sadly.

"Rick, this is my farm, my rules." Hershel said.

"You know it hurts, I've been there." I said while looking at Hershel sadly.

"What hurts?" He asked, confused.

"Being forced to wake up to reality." I said before walking to the barn door and shooting the lock off before opening the barn doors wide open and stepping back.

"Get ready!"

"No!" Beth screamed but Maggie held her back.

Gra!

The walkers growled when they saw fresh meat.

"Fire!" I screamed before pulling the trigger

and watching a walker drop.

"Bang!"

My shot started a barrage of shots as walkers continuously dropped to the ground.

Of course I had told everyone beforehand to put on a show for Hershel and his family so we shot one walker like ten times in the body before finally putting it down.

I wanted to make sure Hershel understood that walkers were dead and in fact not sick.

Glancing over he saw both Amy and Andrea shooting walkers and hitting a few shots every so often.

Of course no one here was a sharp shooter except him and Rick who didn't miss a single shot.

But it was only a matter of time before that would change.

"Bang!"

The last walker slumped to the ground and he looked over to see Hershel and his family on the ground, broken.

"Get the truck. We'll burn the bodies and bury Hershel's family." I walked off with Rick and the others back toward camp.

"I want you to explain the science to Hershel and his family later. Let them understand that we're all infected and that the disease kills you before reactivating the brain."

"Yeah." Rick nodded before walking off while I called Lori and Carol and a few other women over.

"I want y'all to go to Hershel's family and help them get past this. Cook dinner and help them around the house. Of course give them time and space as well."

"Good thinking Shane." Lori said before walking off with the other women. Amy and Andrea with them.

Me and the others took the truck and burnt the bodies before burying Hershel's family.

We held a funeral later that day before everyone went to bed to sleep off the stuff that happened during the day.

The next day I woke up and found Lori speaking with Rick near a campfire.

"What's all the ruckus about?" I asked while eating some eggs.

"It's Hershel. He disappeared last night. No one can find him." Lori said worriedly.

I frowned. This guy really was a pain.

"What about the rest?" I asked.

"Sad. Like they just lost they're family yesterday. Beth took it the hardest but Sophia has been trying to cheer her up." Lori smiled.

"Understandable. They need time to grieve. Rick, find out where Hershel went. I'm gonna get the others to start shooting practice and get ready for winter. "

"Yeah I got it, oh and Carl can't get up yet but he wants to see you." Rick smiled and I chuckled.

"Of course. Let's go see him." We walked to the house before I saw Carl in bed eating when he noticed me.

"Uncle Shane!" Carl smiled a goofy grin.

"Woah! Settle down little man, don't want you hurting yourself." I patted Carl on the head while smiling.

"You're a warrior Carl. I'm proud of you."

"Thanks Uncle Shane! Now only you need to be shot and all three of us will have been shot before!" Carl smiled like being shot was a trophy.

"Woah little man are you trying to curse me?" I chuckled. He had been shot multiple times before and it sucked every time.

"Carl, don't say that!" Lori frowned, causing Carl to nod quickly.

"Yes mom!"

"Haha!" Rick laughed causing Lori to glare at him.

"Alright I'm out of here I'll see y'all later. Rick let me know when you learn where Hershel went."

"Will do."
