Chapter 4 : Saved

Sounds of cars and people could be heard from the place. At a place full of smoke and people, there was a little small child crying. The child seems to be a newborn child. Its small hands were reaching for the stars as its eyes were full of tears. Some passerby just over-looked the child, not really caring for its life. While some are pitying the child just not picking it up for a harsh reality. The place is located in the most populated area in the country. People here do not care for life nor do they fear the law. Laws are for those people who live inside the walls, not for those who are just scattered outside the wall.

The small child was covered with black clothes and was put on a cemented ground. In front of a hostess club which is known for those people who loved to frequent happy and sinful places. As it cried its eyes out, the door of the club opened. A woman who seemed to age of 40's walked out of the club, her clothes were fitted and when looking at her you can realize that even though she is a middle aged woman she is still suitable for those occasions.

As she looked around outside of the door, she saw a small child staring at her. With eyes full of curiosity and tenderness, however, the woman was not at all fascinated with the child. For she squinted her eyes in disgust at the small child. She hated those small children who loved to play and wanted to act innocently, even though knowing that the child in front of her is still a baby.

Then another woman, who is in her 20's, walked near her. The lady was wearing servant clothes appropriate for serving customers and men. The lady saw her staring at the ground and overlooked what her boss was staring at. The lady saw a small child. The child was small and looked like it was abandoned to die. She took pity on the child, even knowing that her boss might have asked her to leave the place. Silently hoping that her boss takes in the small child. The lady kneeled down to pick the small child. Her boss rolled her eyes to her servant and walked away from the door, walking inside the club and sitting on the stool. As the lady was carrying the child in her arms and slowly rocked the child to sleep. She walked inside the club and closed the door behind.

"Leave it outside or leave this place, pick your choice", The boss woman said as she was sitting on a stool while her hands were folded in front of her chest. Looking like a queen with her haid raised and on her hand was a cup of wine.

"Madam, look at this child. Doesn't the child look cute and tender? I can raise her and take care of her, Madam", the lady said as she took the child closer to her boss with a bright smile.

The small child looked at her boss and stopped crying. Those eyes were focused on her and the small child seemed to smile at her. When the madam notices the change on the small child. Her heart softened a bit and smiled. Not knowing why those eyes seemed harmless and was indeed tender to the eyes.

"If that child makes trouble in the future, I can guarantee you that I will throw away that child", the madam said as she drank the wine in her cup. Slowly tasting the wine and smiling at the child.

"Samuel, come here. Auntie prepared this for you to wear at school", a lady's voice could be heard inside and outside of the small room.

The room has a wooden door and it was decorated to fit the image of the boy inside the room. The door opened and a small boy who seemed to be 9 years old could be seen smiling at the lady. With his hands on the door knob and his other hand on a piece of paper. The lady saw the little boy and her heart immediately softened a bit before slowly turning her gaze with disgust.

"You are already at an age where children would work, why are you still drawing on a piece of paper?", the lady asked as she looked at the boy with disgust.

"Auntie, this is our assignment that was checked yesterday. My teacher told us that I should bring this paper home and let the elders see my drawing", the little boy said as he smiled with tenderness.

His auntie took the paper from the boy's hands and saw a drawing of an abstract painting. The drawing was about a light in the darkness and beside the light was a flower with vines, the vines were creeping on the light like it wanted to protect the light. His auntie was weirded out with his drawing but those weird feelings remained in her heart as she remembered that the little boy was late for his class. The clothes on her hands were pushed towards the boy.

"You will be late. Wear this so you can go and your mom will take you to the bus stop", the lady said as she closed the door of the room.

She walked towards another door and opened it. Revealing the club full of men who were drinking and laughing aloud. She walked towards the bar where a man was making drinks. The man was tall and his clothes looked fitted on him. There were three girls that were sitting on the stool, facing the bartender. The lady saw this and smiled cheerfully. That man was the person she saw last year in a place where they buried and harmed people. The man from last year was thin and he was hungry, falling to the ground as he trembled was the same man who was standing now on the bar.

When their eyes met, the man smiled at her warmly. The man was thankful to her for saving his life that day. As they were looking at each other, a loud sound of a shattered glass could be heard. They both looked in the direction and saw a thin lady, wearing servant's clothes, bathing with alcohol. The lady walked near her and saw a chubby man looking at the thin lady with pleasure and lust in his eyes.

The lady was already disgusted for the way the man treated the lady beside her and now she was fully disgusted by his eyes. Those eyes are what she hated the most. She took the thin lady and pulled her aside, eyeing the chubby man with disgust on her eyes. The man looked at her with fear. Realizing that this bar was the bar where the police officers loved to frequent.

"What do you think you are doing with my employee, you dirtbag?!"the lady asked, loud enough for some people to hear.

They looked at the scene with fright on their eyes and slowly backed away from the place. Afraid that when one body guard walked, they would be escorted to the police station. The chubby man looked at the lady and bowed his head, waiting for her to call someone. After a few minutes of silence, a body guard walked in their direction and saw the scene. He was wearing a full body black suit and on his ears was an ear piece connected to a walkie-talkie in his pockets.

"Is this the man, madam?"the bodyguard asked as he looked at the chubby man in front of him with coldness in his eyes.

The madam nodded and smiled sweetly to the dirtbag in front of her. While that man was being escorted out of the bar. The once silent bar turned loud the next minute. Like nothing had happened at all and the scene was forgotten. The madam looked at the thin lady beside her with coldness in her eyes. This lady in front of her was saved by the other boss of this club, who was now working in the police station. Before the other boss got the job as an officer, she was working for the madam. It was 5 years ago, when the other boss took the thin lady in front of the madam. That year was actually the same year where their club almost closed down for the business was not doing well. There was a war on the wall that separates the rich and poor that year. The club was near the wall, thus, it was conflicted by both sides. Making it almost closed down, if not for the fact that some rich wanted to go to their club.

Now, there were no walls that separated the rich. It was destroyed that year, making peace on both sides.
