Everyone ran from one side to another, some crashed into someone else without caring about apologizing, they continued on their way to find a hiding place.
They had to safeguard their lives, they didn't know exactly what had happened and they had no intention of finding out. Everything seemed fine, the day had been calm, but from one moment to another everything was affected.
They believed that they had everything under control, but it was not like that, so many years of research had gone to waste.
So many hours of wakefulness, for what?
" This was a total waste of time, he didn't think we could stabilize this."
" Shut up! This will work out, I know."
Yes, of course, they wanted to play God, they wanted to make fun of death, but everything went wrong and here are the consequences.
" Don't let that come out, if those things make it to the surface we will condemn humanity."
" Doctor, what do we do now?."
He was just looking at nothing, his head was in a mess, he did not want to accept his defeat, he still hoped that everything was a confusion

" You're kidding me right?." he couldn't believe what Dr. Swang had just said, he gave an incredulous laugh." Secondary effect?. What kind of side effect is it that you eat another person, that's not just anything doctor Swang."
" There was only a slight delay, that's all."
" They are just excuses, he admits at once that we only spent millions on something that would never have the desired results, we are not God, doctor."
In that room there was silence, no one said anything else because they knew that they had failed and that they would pay dearly
" We have to get out of here and prevent that plague from going outside and continuing to spread."
While the whole underground was in total chaos, people being eaten by the infected, others tried to defend themselves, but failed in the attempt.
In that hell, the emergency siren was heard through the loudspeakers of that place, which indicated that all the doors would begin to close, leaving all who followed without escape to those who were still alive.
The remaining ones tried at all costs to reach the doors before they will be completely closed, the anguish of being trapped among so many rotten ones seized every second of their weak bodies.
The doors were closed, everyone was trapped in that place, including the guilty, no one had managed to get out and that was a good thing.
Everything was in total silence, those who were in a good hiding place tried not to emit any noise, screams were no longer heard, there were no more growls. Just silence.
" What happened?."
" I don't know, but I don't like it at all."
Inside with the creators of that catastrophe they were the same, without making a sound and wondering what had happened to stop this chaos.
" I told them it was a setback for the injection to take effect, everything will be fine from now on." Swang was happy, as he was confident that this will end positively.
" I do not think it's that." Young Lee put his ear to the door so he could hear something.
Before Dr. Swang could say anything, the growls began to be heard again, from one moment to another those survivors heard more and more growls, each and everyone fearing for their lives tried to find some way out, many came out of hiding.

" I am only realistic we will not be able to get out of here, most if not everyone in this laboratory has been eaten by those infected, I do not think we will make it out of here alive."
Dr. Swang hadn't mentioned anything, he was lost in thought, He felt humiliated that the liquid he had worked for years did not turn out the way he wanted.
This injection was supposed to bring her late daughter to life, he longed for it, wished it had worked, but unfortunately nothing turned out right.
His daughter managed to open her eyes, but not in the way he wanted, those bloodshot white eyes weren't his little girl's pretty brown eyes.
That gray, cold, rotten skin wasn't her daughter's smooth white skin, either.
What had he done wrong?

He did not know, all he wanted at that moment was his only daughter returned, He could not accept that she had died, first his wife and now his daughter, he wanted to do more for them but he could not.
Now he regretted having created that injection, his daughter was lost in that subway and he could not look for her to be able to give her a rest as was the tradition
He had failed as a father, failed as a husband, failed as a person. Now he had sentenced humanity, that was a lot of burden for him, so he opted for the easiest way to fix his mistakes.

The other doctors when they heard the sound of the gun safety turned around to look at the scene of doctor Swang with the gun on his head
" Doctor, don't do that."
" Please Swang we will find a way out of here, it is not necessary to go to those extremes."
" You do not understand all the weight that I am carrying, since I am responsible for all this." tears were beginning to flood her eyes." I don't think I can bear it."
" It's not just you're at fault, Dr. Swang, we're all here helping with this, so please put your gun down and we'll try to find a solution together."
Swang's body trembled, he did not want to do it but he knew that he could not handle so much if those infected came to the surface, so without further pulling the trigger ending his life and all the guilt that tortured him
The noise managed to be heard through the facilities, the infected began to approach the place where the sound came from.
Everyone inside panicked when they realized that the growls were slowly approaching where they were, They immediately blocked the door so that the infected could not easily reach them.
" What are we going to do?"
"I don't know, but those things are already here."
The door was knocked on by those beings, the smell of putrefaction flooded the nostrils of the doctors who could not avoid doing a new one in total disgust.
"How long ago were they infected? Those things suck awful."
" Do you want to stop complaining? We are on the verge of death and you worry more about that plague."
" Doctor Lee, what are you doing?"
" What is not obvious ?."
" Tell me won't you do what I'm thinking".
" Of course, if we want to survive to create an antidote, this is the best option."
" Please can we find another way out, we cannot expose the world to what they are not prepared for."
"We are not prepared for this either, I know I'm about to make a mistake but I think we know that we are the only ones who can create an antidote to control what we cause."
Nobody said anything because they knew that Dr. Lee was right, they had to do everything possible to create a cure as soon as possible.
Dr. Lee was in front of the computer, he entered the control panel, he keyed in the corresponding codes to take command of the entire laboratory
" The infected are guided through the noise, so the main door will be the one they will have to go to." Without taking my eyes off the screen, I authorize the alarm on the door that leads to the surface to sound, to give access to the exit.
The infected who were outside the office as soon as they heard the sound began to move towards the place.
Those beings managed to surface, those people who were around were devoured in a matter of seconds some became part of them, others simply died.
How long would it take to reach everyone?
No one would be saved from that virus.
After a few hours, in that place a sound stopped being heard, the doctors checked through the cameras that there was no one wandering the corridors, one or another infected had been trapped in the rooms but there were fewer, most had managed to get out.
" May God forgive us for what we just did."
" Gentlemen it's time to get to work, let's try to create an antidote and with the infected that remain we will put it to the test."
" I hope that everyone outside manages to shelter and survive in that hell."
" I hope we don't take long to create the antidote to control the infection."
" Going on gentlemen, we have a lot to do, be careful we don't know how many more are out there."
They all looked at each other and then quietly left the office
" May the best survive." Lee took the weapon with which Dr. Swang had killed himself and then followed his companions.
