THE BONDING

It had been a very peaceful day, Emma was working at The RW Enterprises, it was time to say farewell to Joseph. So the office administration had arranged for a small party where Joseph received a lot of well wishes for a successful life ahead.

"Thank you for believing in me that I could be a part of such a big company and leading me to know all I'm suppose to do I'm really going to miss you. But I promise to always do my work right and make you feel happy about it." Emma said while she went hugging Joseph as a sign of farewell.

Everyone was having a heavy throat and eyes filled with tears as Joseph had been a great person to each and everyone present in that room including Richard but he being a man of strong personality never really expressed himself but told him "You don't have to worry about anything it doesn't matter if you work here or not you are my friend and I will make sure that nothing ever disturbs you all you have to do is give me a call. Okay?"

Joseph had a pale smile with tears in his eyes on hearing out to Richard and Emma. He said in a very soft voice "Look you guys are going to make me cry, but I promise not never break ties with you, I'm going to miss both of you a lot."

Then they went for some dancing and had dinner together, till the party got over it was too late so Richard asked Emma if he could drop her home as it was too late for a girl to go home alone.

Emma thought it was a discomfort for Richard so she said in a hesitating voice "Thank you so much sir but I'll manage it's totally fine. You too are getting late you must go."

"Emma, don't you know it's duty of a gentleman to take care of all the ladies around him and it's too late now I can't let you be on your own." Richard said in a friendly manner.

As Richard drove Emma home they discussed about thier taste of songs as they both struck on the same song and after having an interesting conversation Richard said"I think we should sit together and talk about something more common between us, because I have this feeling that we almost have the same likes and dislikes."

"Sure some day soon we will do that." Emma answered and got ready to hop out of the car as they had reached her house. Then she turned back and asked would you like to stop by for a coffee or something?"

"No... I'm sorry not today some other day might be because I have get home my mom must be waiting for me to be there." Richard said in a melancholic manner.

Saying so he left Emma at the door of her house. But he had this weird unsatisfactory feeling. But couldn't help as he had to go back home.

It was the next day Richard and Emma were having lunch together in his cabin when Rick who is Richard's best friend entered and saw them both having a great time together which he wasn't able to handle and couldn't help but spoke at a very loud pitch "What are you guys up to?!!!"

This sudden high pitched voice made Emma and Richard shocked. Then Richard stood up said " why are you so loud today? And this is my new assistant Emma."

Emma stood up and greeted Rick and as she moved her hand forward to shake hands Rick walked forward ignoring her. This was noticed by Richard that he thought to talk about to Rick so he asked Emma to give them sometime alone. Emma left Rick and Richard alone as was not happy by Rick's reaction.

"Is everything ok with you Richard? What is the girl doing in your office? Don't you know that a woman can never go working and handle household work together?" Rick said in a Furious voice.

" But she is good at her work. she really caught up with the work very well." Richard explained calmly.

"Have you forgotten that you operate a leading company. Look at the way she dresses up.!! A women is allowed to dress up like this only in front of her husband. What type of women is she?!!" Rick said in an irritated way.

All these words said by Rick arouse a feeling of consciousness in Richard's mind. " what was wrong with me? What was I thinking? How such a blunder mistake be done by me?"

"I was carried away by her appearance earlier. I wasn't in my Conscious till now." Richard said in a shocking voice.

"I think she was planning on trapping you her false love and then acquire oil your property and wealth to fulfill her lifelong demands." Rick exclaimed. These words by Rick convinced Richard.

After a few moments when Rick was gone, Richard called Emma and asked her to submit her resignation letter within an hour.

Being shocked by Richard's statement Emma said in an amused manner " Have I done anything wrong Sir?"

"No.. No nothing is wrong, it's just that this is a company lead by male workers and Joseph wasn't aware of the fact that female workers can't be given such important jobs. And I never wanted to make him feel bad for his decision." Richard said being arrogant towards Emma.

These words of Richard hit Emma so hard, she was so hurt that she immediately went to her desk and typed her resignation letter and placed it at Richard's table without wasting anytime.

While Emma was leaving after handing over her resignation Richard stood up and said "Here is an advice for you, work and home can never co-exist in a women's life. So just focus on being good at your household work, indusrtial work is not your cup of tea."

Emma was really pissed off by Richard's remark. But she left the office without arguing and making any scene over there. She had never thought that people would still think like what the elder generation used to think in the twenty first century. Moving out of the office Emma had a feeling of disgrace, as Richard's word were taken as an insult by her for being a women and she thought of proving them wrong anyhow and stand strong for the rest of the women who had to face this same problem in the world.

As Emma was angry she said "What do these men think of themselves? how dare that idiot say that women are capable of managing both work and home together? what does he know about the capabilities of women?"

As she was very furious with the conversation that she had with Richard, made her eyes turn greenish black and her skin changed from a human to reptile. Instantly she realised where she was standing and calmed herself down, back to the human form.
