6 Embracing the Coven

With newfound knowledge of the sects and clans, Seraphina began formulating a plan to join a suitable sect. She was intrigued by the idea of an all-female sect, and the Rosevine Coven seemed like an ideal choice. Their combination of spellcasting and cultivation aligned well with her desire to explore her unique ability to absorb strong emotions.

Seraphina von Schwarzenberg stepped out of the Golden Dragon Inn, her cloak wrapped tightly around her to shield her from the cool evening breeze. She had decided to travel to a village located near the Rosevine Coven.

As she made her way to the nearby carriage station, she couldn't help but admire the quaint charm of the village streets. Dimly lit lanterns adorned the cobblestone paths. It was strange to see how these lanterns were made of paperlike material imbued with runes to lighten the atmosphere.

The air was filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods and spices from nearby food stalls, tempting her senses.

Arriving at the carriage station, a line of horse-drawn carriages awaited passengers, each led by a coachman donned in traditional Aetherian black robes. The silver-crested hat they wear was the trademark of Solara coachmen. Seraphina chose one of the carriages that appeared in good condition and climbed aboard.

"Where would you like to go, miss?" the coachman politely asked as he turned to her with a smile.

"To the village near the Rosevine Coven, please," Seraphina replied.

The coachman nodded and signaled the horses to begin their journey. The carriage lurched forward, and Seraphina settled into the plush seat, her eyes drifting to the passing scenery. The village gradually gave way to dense forests, shrouded in an otherworldly mist that seemed to hold an air of mystique and ancient secrets.

"Oh damn, how do they make this so comfortable? Sitting in those carriages back in my old was literal torture!"

This was one of the first things she noticed. Despite her knowing the world from a novel, the medieval outlook of this world still painted a backwater image inside her head. Seraphina really wanted to know about how these seals worked. They had a godly effect in every arc of the storyline, but none of the main cast had ever extensively studied them.

However, the seals have reality-bending potential if used correctly.

Seraphina noticed how most inheritances and secret realms are secured through seals. While some seals can teleport you to a different location within a certain radius, others can deny you entry or suppress your cultivation. The fact that this was not exploited by the author was criminal, in her opinion.

The Rosevine Coven did not have much screen time in the original story.

They were always mentioned alongside other sects and clans. But since they were an all-female organization and Kael was quite perverted and flirty, they did not get along. The Coven consisted of new female recruits, accepted disciples, core disciples, and heirs. All elders and the matriarch were strong enough for the Rosevine Coven to be considered a top three force in Solara.

[A day later, at the village near Rosevine Coven]

Seraphina walked through the charming village near the Rosevine Coven, her mind thinking about the upcoming entrance exam.

The entrance exam for the Rosevine Coven was said to be challenging, and since they were not featured as much as other sects, she was going in blind. There was not much she could do about it. But the good thing was, she could try the exam any day as long as she registered soon enough in the recruitment office of Rosevine Coven inside the village. There were not that many recruits coming here since most consider Rosevine's arts to be unorthodox and out of date. Seraphina had none of that and knew the potential of seals.

But first, she needed to register as a female recruit at Rosevine Coven. Therefore, Seraphina made her way to the recruitment office with anticipation.

With a determined expression, Seraphina searched for the recruiter's office for Rosevine Cove. After navigating through the labyrinthine streets, she finally arrived at a modest building adorned with the sect's emblem. An intricate design of intertwined vines and delicate sealing runes.

Pushing open the door, she was greeted by a friendly-looking female cultivator seated behind a desk.

"Welcome to Rosevine Cove recruitment office. How may I assist you, young miss?" the recruiter asked with a warm smile.

"I'm Seraphina, and I seek to join Rosevine Cove. I wish to take the entrance examination," she replied composed.

The recruiter's eyes sparkled with interest, and she nodded in approval. "Excellent! We are always eager to welcome new talents. Your entrance examination will be held in a week. This should give you ample time to prepare. You just need to pay a fee for the books and resources."

"Thank you," Seraphina responded politely, already calculating the best approach to pass the exam. Then she put her hands inside a pocket to draw the required fee from her inventory and handed it to the recruiter.

"Since I like your look, I'll tell you more about it. Aspiring candidates are usually tested on their knowledge of basic cultivation techniques, their affinity with seals, and their understanding of our sect's principles," the recruiter explained.

Seraphina's mind immediately turned to the book she had received earlier, containing Rosevine's basic cultivation technique. It seemed she was already being given a head start. She decided to head to a nearby teahouse to peruse the book in detail.

Later, seated at a corner table, she carefully flipped through the pages, absorbing the information like a sponge. The cultivation technique involved intricate seal formations and methods to channel and manipulate Qi.

"This technique seems to be easier than I thought," Seraphina thought with a hint of satisfaction. "I'll need to practice diligently to demonstrate my proficiency during the examination. There is no need to hold back here since I need to be noticed for better networking inside the Coven."

With the excitement of her successful entry as a female recruit into Rosevine Coven still coursing through her veins, Seraphina decided to celebrate by treating herself to a comfortable night's rest at a nearby inn. She chose "The Golden Dragon Inn" again since she liked their beds from last time.
