3 The Villainess Shu Qing Courts Death Again Part 1

Shu Lin came to consciousness in a room full of toys. There were all sorts of toys, soft toys in every shape imaginable, pretty dolls that looked very expensive and even old wooden toys strewn all around the room.

Shu Lin stared at these toys incredulously, wondering if she had gone mad. Just then, the now annoying monotone voice of the so called system sounded, "Host has regained functions. Now accessing database of trial world."

In a flash, unknown scenes played out in Shu Lin's mind. Basically, this was a Cinderella story. A pretty girl living in poverty, oppressed by her family and had no friends met her Prince Charming. She then went on to happily live with her Prince Charming and made her own family. Of course, that was after she dealed with the problem of the villains, her stepmother and stepsisters.

Now, this Cinderella-like tale would have nothing to do with Shu Lin if it weren't for three extremely important things. One, this story was actually telling the future of this trial world. Two, the villains in this story had very horrible endings, such as death by torture, decapitation and so on. What does this have to do with Shu Lin? Because thirdly and most importantly, she is now one of the villains in that Cinderella story. The younger stepsister to be exact.

This was all just recently explained to Shu Lin by the system whose name finally made sense to her. The Counterattack of the Villainess System.

Right now, all Shu Lin wants to do is bash her head on the wall and never wake up again. Or scream forever into a pillow. She really, really regrets coming out of the darkness. After she went to the light, trouble seems to pile up and she has a dreaded feeling that this was just the start.

You might be asking why isn't Shu Lin jumping at joy for this second chance. As stated in the previous chapter, the risks far outweigh the benefits. Yes, she would have a second life if she kept doing tasks for the systems. But, that was only on the premise that she does not fail the missions. Failure meant dispersion of the soul. She would never be able to reincarnate.

You might be thinking, missions cannnot be that hard can it? I mean, all the previous counterattack systems stories were all about their successful hosts.

Hehe. All Shu Lin can say is that, these protagonists of the story are the darlings of their world. You think it's that easy to beat them and counterattack? Be careful that the world don't destroy her foreign soul first.

Putting it simply, the villainesses who request for counterattcks are making deals with the system who contracts the host, Shu Lin, to complete the counterattack. Payment would be a fragment of their souls.

Basically, they're selling their souls to the devil which the system represents. The world consciousness is God who will try it's best to protect its darlings of fate and never allow the Devil to triumph. And what do they say when it comes to good and evil? Good will always triumph over evil.

Hence, Shu Lin had the system report the statistics of previous hosts if it had them. Perhaps it felt that after being bound to it, she would not be able to escape now so it willingly showed her what she wanted. The system had 19 hosts before. Most of them could not even pass the trial world and were expelled by the world consiousness while the rare few that did pass ended up failing in the next world.

This was the cruel reality. All the previous hosts were exceptional in their fields, geniuses in their own rights. What could Shu Lin, who couldn't be anymore ordinary, do that they can't?
