~8~ Stalking Her New Butler

Once Charlotte did what her new butler told her to do, the servants in her household were shocked to the core.

Her facial expressions seemed to have been so incredulous. Some thought they were in some kind of dream where they even asked others to pinch their cheeks, others thought that the boy - most servants in the household - suspected had superpowers to take care of the lady in the household to tame.

Some thought that the lady was being tamed because her new butler was being strict with her or even something - when all her thoughts were wrong in the first place.

"Hey, have you heard about the young lady's new butler?"

"Wait, so it's true? Will the lady really be tamed by him?"

"Well, as you all know - do I have this mood that the lady was tamed because the young butler was strict?"

"What the hell are you talking about, Yina? I think the lady was tamed because the boy had super powers!"

"You're so conceited Cary I think we should just do our jobs and if the lady here saw us chatting we would all be punished again, do you want to experience that more than we have often?"

"Alright, alright, now I understand."

"You're never alone in that regard - we just have to watch the lady and know why she was like that in the first place."

"Good idea - then we'll do it"

Almost all the servants talked about the lady and her new butler. Everyone had such suppositions that can't even be true.

But one maid was curious enough, but she can't even mingle with other servants, as she was shy from the start, so ever since she came into the household she always was on the other side of the corner that she can't even see the lady in the household properly.

All she cared about was making a living, and she's already done that - she had to enter the most trusted duke in the Empire.

As a result, she has worked hard enough to meet all the requirements and support her family - if only she is the breadwinner

But suddenly - the maid became curious when she heard rumors from the other servants about how the lady of the household was being tamed by the new butler

'Is that even real? I thought that the rumors about the ruthless and inconsiderate lady will be the topic of the day - but the rumors from the servants changed immediately and the lady now had a new butler? I think that was to discipline them or their actions I thought.'

She was in the aisles cleaning the path when she heard some of the maids on the other side doing the same as her.

After she had already finished there - she immediately went into the garden and wanted to cut some grass and branches there, when suddenly - someone had bumped into her and her butt hit the grass.

That made her only mentally exclaim how painful it was for her to sit on the grass without any pillow whatsoever

At that point she was about to get up when she heard someone shout in front of her and when she looked to see who it was - when she thought it was a woman's voice and a woman would have pushed her but she would ever dare or even expect that woman she just met who was the mistress of the house

'Is that the lady of the household?'

She wondered that she wasn't even aware that her hands were already shaking and her forehead was starting to sweat - everything about her felt like slow motion, which she couldn't move for a moment before she heard it exclaimed the lady again , which prompted her to immediately bow to her while begging for forgiveness

"My lady! How dare I push you in the garden! Please punish me and please have mercy on me! I just passed by and did not see you there, but it is a great sin to push you at all, My lady ---- --'

However, the maid who pushed the lady never finished what she was saying as the lady suddenly spoke to her in such a way that her eyes widened in surprise

"Don't make it too obvious. Yes, you snapped at me and I know you never meant to. So you're good, don't overreact sometimes. Help me with that instead, will you?"

After hearing those words from Charlotte's mouth, the maid felt as if she had heard a goddess speak to her. Only the goddess was portrayed as such a villainess in the Empire

'The lady was nice! She even forgives me by just bumping into her, but why does it seem like she's been portrayed as a villain both by the other minions and within the Empire? I don't get it if that lady was so nice just this time!'

The maid was deep in thought when she suddenly heard Charlotte let out a sigh that brought her back to her position and helped the lady

"It's always an honor to serve you, Mila----"

Once again the maid couldn't finish when suddenly - Charlotte interrupted her

"What's your name?"

She asked her directly that making the maid had such chaotic thoughts spinning in her head that she suddenly froze until the lady asked her again

"Don't panic - I won't harm you - since you never did anything bad in the first place."

The maid seemed to have heard such kind words that immediately made her say her name

"M-Milady, my name is H-Harriett"

"Okay, from this day forward - Harriett - you will be my accomplice"

After Charlotte said those words - Harriett's eyes widened in surprise as she was glad when the lady had finally asked her name that she even said she would do her no harm.

Yet the words that lingered next to Charlotte's mouth made Harriett feel as if she had taken some bitter medicine, her face already giving the impression that she doesn't even want to be the lady's accomplice.

This made Charlotte's eyes widen while her eyebrows creased

"Seems like you never liked the idea, huh? Well, let me rephrase it for you. From now on – you will do what I asked you to do, okay?"

'Wait, is that why the other servants and people within the Empire thought the lady was a rogue? Well, it could be, but I can't just infer from that just from what she told me earlier. There must be some reason why the others are calling the lady villainess when she is young!'

Harriett thought for a while, which made the lady in front of her laugh a little. Those gestures and actions that made Charlotte widen Harriett's eyes in surprise

'To others the lady would probably have gone nuts - but at that moment I was shocked to know that the lady even giggled just for waiting for my answer!'

"Oh, and one more thing, Harriett - I don't take no for an answer, so from this day forward you have no choice but to do whatever I say, and for now - we've got to hurry!"

Charlotte was unable to explain further as she selected the fabrics she was holding earlier and immediately grabbed Harriett's hands and led her the way.

For a moment all of Harriett's words seemed to get stuck in her throat that she wasn't even able to speak to the lady.

Her eyes widen, her mouth was wide open and her eyebrows wanted to meet as she was already running with the lady leading her the way to where they need to go

'Wait, is this the lady? How come she is like this? I never met her in person as at that point I was destined to work in distant places from the lady - I didn't expect something like this to turn my life upside down from where I was supposed to be'

Harriett was able to hold back her mixed feelings until Charlotte stopped, and then she stopped too. Then Charlotte released her grip on Harriett as she said something that caught the maid's attention

"Here, cover this on the lower part of your face while I do the same. Right now - we need to watch where this guy we--------oh there! See that little young man over there?"

When she heard what the lady was - at first Harriett raised her eyebrows, and when Charlotte pointed to someone and even mentioned a little boy - her eyes fell on someone whose silver hair was glistening in the sun's rays

"That's the guy we're going to follow"

"M-Milady - if it wasn't disrespectful - may I know who the guy was?"

'Oh him? He's just my new butler - Louis Crest'

"L-Louis C-Crest?"

However, upon hearing what the maid said, Charlotte glared at her to correct her

"You should say the word Sir before his name, Harriett, since I am the only one allowed to call him by his name."

"Y-Yes M-Milady"

'Why is my lady acting like this?!'

"I-Is that s-Sir Louis Milady?"

When Charlotte heard her say those words, she just smiled at them

"Yes he is, Harriett."

'That's because I was notified earlier that he's going to the market and I just can't be sure he'll keep my secret, so I have to follow him from now on! I even came out of my room just to see him when I came across this maid I think I saw once.'

"M-Milady, I think he's going somewhere"

"Yes Harriett, we have to go somewhere too"
