~20~ Eat Waffle Vegetables

After what had happened before - Charlotte was now holding the yellow rose in her other hand while her other hand had been holding Louis' hand as they walked to a place that Louis found so intriguing and also funny

"I think the free flower we received from the couples before made a big impact on the lady. Well, I'm very grateful to them - but I think leaving a little gift for the two old folks will always be my manners."

Louis' hand gripped Charlotte's tightly now, causing her cheeks to flush as usual. She knows she admired him earlier because of her sudden realization.

However, she couldn't even shake off the reality that her admiration for him was so much greater and the actions he used to take with the two elderly couples made her heart beat faster than before.

The actions she always sees from Louis were the kind of actions that already captivated her even more.

For most of her life - she was unaware that such a person lived like this - living with kindness in her past - she had been traumatized by that fake smile and fake laugh, which by the end of the day was already stabbing her in the back

However, for the young man holding her hand, she could not even find a reason why she should be betrayed by him. She just couldn't feel it and it kept her attention on him all the time.

Louis pulled Charlotte even closer, making Charlotte feel like she was the one who got out of the cage instead of the one who locked Louis in.

That's because, in her mind, she only made exceptions when she knew of the word Harriet had said to her earlier

'Am I allowed to do these kinds of things that I would never have thought of because I admire him? Yes, maybe it's just that - no more or less'

The warmth emanating from Louis' hand, however, made her calmer than ever - but the sudden pounding of her heat would not alarm her even a bit, knowing that the person making her pounding harder than before was in hers was close and even held her hand.

Most of the time though - she only let Louis drag her there because she knew it - it's the only way for her to stay calmer than before

"...and here we are! Milady, it may never seem luxurious to you as I only have that on a budget - but I hope you enjoy it here."

The moment Louis had said that Charlotte's eyes widened, and not with horror, however - surprised as it was the first time she had been in such a place and this was - when people were queuing at the market, to get some food that was on a moving cart.

There, Charlotte's eyes swept the market until she knew they were in the middle of the long line, which she wasn't even aware of just as Louis finally introduced the place where they would be eating

"I guess a lot of people formed a line, now a second ago we're at the bottom - but we're already at the middle line."

As soon as Charlotte heard those words, her eyes didn't even stop focusing on Louis, who was still smiling at her. The moment he said that she can finally understand what he meant by asking her to go to the market instead of around the house

'If I'm correct, he only asked me to go to the market because he wanted to show me? Well, I'm surprised enough as a lot of people had it lined up - I can't even focus on them as my eyes seemed to fix on sight and that's the sight or even the view I would. don't even dare to ignore or avert'

Charlotte knew why, and it was because of Louis' sincerity in his actions since they first met. Not in Charlotte's father's office - but in the garden behind the tree, where she first heard the voice she thought was just imagination.

There, she knew that her life would never be the same - that there had already been, and still will know, a defining factor that took her away from her boring life and into the life she was unfamiliar with

"...and what can I do for you, young gentleman and young lady?"

An old man asked the two when they were already at the front of the line. Louis was the one who answered, still had that smile on his face that seemed to grab everyone's attention

"Oh! Let's eat some waffle greens, sir."

"All right, waffle vegetables will be offered shortly"

After these words - the old man moves like lightning and there - exactly in a second, as the man said - they were already offered the waffle vegetables

"This will be a bronze coin, young man and woman"

"Here, sir"

Then Louis handed the man a silver coin, causing the old man to widen his eyes

"Young sir, your chang-----"

This time it was the old man who wasn't able to finish what he was saying when suddenly - Louis smiled at him softly and sweetly while speaking in a soft voice for everyone to admire

"It's a sign from us, sir. Please keep it as our gift."

Then just like that – Charlotte's eyes widen with her mouth wide open. It took Louis to lead her to the park with such a beautiful huge umbrella with a small table for only two seats.

"All right, I guess it's already time to eat my lady"

"W-Wait"

That's when Louis stopped what he was about to do as his hands were already on the bread. There he looked at the lady gravely while Charlotte - portrayed the same one who portrayed Louis - looked on

"So that's the waffle vegetables?"

"Yes, Milady - The waffle covered the vegetables inside and was shaped like a cone to make it more appealing."

"Is that why you waited in line to eat waffle greens, Louis?"

Louis couldn't help but sigh at the lady who spoke to him. There he placed the food gently on the table and then smiled at her ladylike, which is what he usually does. Then he decided to speak

"No my lady - the little owner was here - for some reason and it was already written on one of the boxes in front of the square - on the carriage in which they were initially dispatched. It said all proceeds will be donated to the Children's Foundation. So they did it for a good cause."

After saying those words, Charlotte felt as if she was so lost in herself that she wasn't even able to fathom the reason why something like this existed in the middle of a huge park

Charlotte wanted to apologize that she couldn't know the reasons and immediately went with what people liked instead of knowing any truths behind it.

Yet, time after time, every time she opened her mouth, words just didn't come out until Louis decided to talk to her again. This widened her eyes even more

"Also, my lady - I brought you here for today so that you can relax your mind. I think that settles your curiosity as to why I suddenly brought you here? Besides, if you just let your attention wander around you - you'll eventually know that people need to focus on their business. As soon as Charlotte heard those words, she couldn't even notice how her lips were already curling up just looking at Louis and how full of sincerity his voice was

'I guess for once - Father never made a mistake in making Louis my butler. Because of that - I could always be so close to him.'
