23 Intermission - 22

A/N: So, some of you might be wondering why I'm writing another academy novel, well, it's simple really. You see, WRDIN was originally supposed to be a slice of life, but then I completely changed it and turned it into mostly action, where basically, none of the academy is shown. That's why I'm going to write an academy arc for this one, and actually make it slice of life this time.

"Char, Gwen, which of you is better at swordsmanship?" I asked them as soon as I woke up the next morning.

"We've never checked, Young Master."

"Then go do that now whilst I find a weapon to use."

Getting up out of my bed, I had them change me into suitable clothes before putting on a cloak and walking towards the door.

"Oh yeah, one thing, please don't destroy the castle during your "checking"."

"Understood, Young Master." They responded, at the same time.

Walking out, I proceeded to the Castle's Safe.

Opening the giant door by dripping a drop of my blood on a dial, I walked in to find an almost empty room, with some gold coins and treasures lying here and there.

Passing this room by, I walking into the next room, where the weapons were held.

Turning around, looking at the walls lined with various weapons of all shaped and sizes, I knew that I would have a hard time choosing.

But then, something caught my eye.

Taking it off the wall, I knew that it was the perfect sword.

After all, it had been considered the most versatile sword back on Earth (A/N: Just my opinion, but it's probably somewhere near the top.)

It was heavy enough to be wielded with two hands, but light enough to allow its wielder to execute one-handed maneuvers.

It was long enough to be used at a range close to that of a spear's, but curved enough so that it could also be used within a shorter range.

It was a Miaodao, a newer type Chinese sword, but still, it was one that was created after millennia of iterations on other sword types.

"Shling!"

Unsheathing the sword, I was captured by the beauty of the silver that reflected my face, the curve that caught my eye, and the sharpness of the blade.

And it was at this moment that I chose the weapon that I would use for the rest of my life, well, the one that I would use publicly, my trump card would be the skill that I had just received, and the weapon that it brought with it.

After spending a few minutes admiring the weapon, I exited the safe and quickly moved to the indoor training grounds.

But, before I entered, I made sure to press my ear to the door, making sure that I wouldn't accidentally end up dead anytime soon.

Hearing that all was quiet, I entered.

But I soon regretted that decision.

Looking at the middle of the training ground, I just saw the two maids standing there, their hands on their swords, looking like they were just standing still.

I, of course, knew that this wasn't all, so I enhanced my sight by a time dilation of 1000.

And, well, I won't even describe what I saw because it was too astonishing.

It seemed like there were fighting at extreme speeds, even for my already enhanced eyes, and they were just phasing back to their still positions for less than a microsecond before starting to attack each other again.

I politely just exited the room after seeing this, and then leaned against the opposite wall to the door in the hallway, waiting for their fight to end, contemplating how weak I was right now, looking at the almost insurmountable wall that was the difference between my skill set and power versus theirs.

And, well, I really didn't have to wait that long as both of them had noticed my presence and had finished the fight as quickly as possible.

Seeing the states that they were in, I already knew who had won.

"So, Char's going to be my teacher?"

Looking at the bruised and battered form of Gwen, I just told her to go treat her wounds, before coming back to the training ground, just so that I would have a second opinion on everything that I did.

Walking into the training room, as I passed Char, she whispered into my ear,

"Gwen... She's a dangerous person."

"I know, but I can trust her enough right now, and who's to say that you're any less dangerous to me?"

"..."

There was an awkward silence for a little while

"Sorry Char, that was harsh."

"But it's just the truth, Young Master."

With that, we ended the conversation, and I started learning how to use a sword.

...

5 Years Later:

"Huff, huff, huff, huff..."

I was sprawled on the dirt of the training grounds, drenched in sweat, struggling to catch my breath.

"How, huff, long, huff, did I, huff, last?"

"You lasted a solid two minutes, Young Master."

"Woohoo!"

Hearing this, I shouted in joy at how much I had improved during the past 5 years.

At the beginning, I couldn't even hold a candle to Char as I fought her whilst she suppressed her strength to twos for her stats across the board, her technique was just that monstrous.

Of course, I learned and built my own sword technique, taking experience from my spars against both Char and Gwen, and then just figuring everything out on my own.

So, now, I could successfully fight against Char for a few moments whilst she suppressed her strength to eights across the board.

This was a huge accomplishment on my part, so I celebrated, as today was also the last day that I would stay at the castle.

After shouting out a few more times, Gwen carried me to my bathroom and started washing me whilst Char went to clean herself up.

Just sitting there in the bathtub, I pulled up my status window.
