Getting Slapped (4) - 47

"Did you hear? The Hero just revealed that she has obtained a holy artifact!" Whispered a student that was sitting in relatively close proximity to me to another student.

I was currently back in class, and similar conversations were circling all around me as all attention was taken off me and directed towards my sister.

Smiling in my mind, I kept my head down as I pretended to be asleep.

Vasilie, sitting next to me, was confused at first, as she had come back to class after the weekend expecting everyone's attention to be on me, but this was obviously a curveball in her plans.

After all, she, being one that pursued power, was obviously curious about the spell I had used too, like everyone else, but now that there was no pressure on me at all, she really couldn't do anything.

And then, when the teacher arrived, everybody quieted down, and I truly went to sleep.

...

Once again waking up right before Vasilie touched me with the intention to shake me awake, I nodded at her gratefully, before slinging my bag over my shoulder and leaving the classroom.

It was currently lunch break, and I was heading back to the library to take my midday nap.

But, as soon as I walked into the library, Reese hounded me and asked,

"How'd you create such a massive explosion? Tell me tell me tell me!"

Sighing, as this was a question that, although was super weird coming from anybody else, was normal for Reese.

Shaking her off my arm, which she had started clinging to at some point as I walked to my usual corner of the library, I laid down on the table and just replied with,

"It was actually a spell, not an explosive..."

Hearing this, her mood immediately soured.

Yet, I wasn't done yet.

"But, I can give you another chemical formula that'll make a bigger explosion than anything you've used until now."

"Really?"

"Yep, just mix sulfur with..."

Explaining to her the process with which gunpowder was made, I ended it with asking her for a slight favor in return for providing her with that information.

"Could you make me "bullets" with this new formula?"

"Don't we already have "bullets"?"

"Here, let me show you."

Sitting up, I held my hands out. Seeing this, she passed my her notepad and a blackened pencil, which I then used to draw a diagram of a modern bullet, not one made to be propelled with mana, making sure to label every single part and dimension, just to make sure that it would all be correct when she made it.

Handing it back to her, she studied the drawing for a moment whilst biting on her extremely dirty eraser, before finding extreme inspiration in my blueprint.

Seeing her eyes brighten, I just found that I was content, and so, I laid back down and started to drift off into the void.

...

A gun.

A weapon that could be anything one wanted it to be.

Short range, medium range, long range, the length of the entire world range, it could really, mathematically, do anything if one had the conditions perfect.

But, of course, the conditions were never perfect.

And so, one had to learn how to adapt within every single situation.

But that was what made the gun one of the best weapons ever, it's adaptability.

If you needed a short ranged weapon, you would carry a pistol, if you needed a medium ranged weapon, you would carry a rifle, if you needed a long range weapon, you would carry a sniper.

And if you needed to be able to fight at all ranges, then all you had to do was carry all of them.

I mean, it was that easy.

That was why I preferred guns over most other weapons, other than knives of course.

Knives were just my forte, and that wouldn't change unless I lost my arms or something.

(A/N: Please don't be foreshadowing...)

Anyways, back to the present, I was currently in the training hall at four in the morning, as I sparred with Vasilie, who was already almost at my level in terms of raw power when fighting without using a star.

But still, I was able to thoroughly beat her just because she couldn't get used to my "Ever Changing Sword", a technique that I had made, a sword style that never stayed the same, a sword style that was unpredictable, and a sword style that completely focused on killing the opponent, all combined in one.

This sword technique had been the fruit of all my hard work back in that castle, and well, it would probably be the foundation for all my fights in the future.

After all, I would only keep my knife skills and any guns that I possibly made as trump cards, not to be used in regular fights.

"Slich!"

With one last stroke, I held my sword against Vasilie's neck.

"It seems like I've lost, again." She suddenly voiced, dejectedly.

"But you've almost caught up to me now." I replied, trying to boost her mood up a little, but knowing that it wouldn't do anything.

"Yes, but I can already tell that I'll never win against you in the area of technique. Just how did you learn all of that?" She asked, truly curious.

"I've dedicated the majority of my life to it, it's that simple."

Hearing my explanation, she nodded, as it made sense after all.

She did think that I was a genius who had only been held back by my circumstances, so it was only natural that I was good at something.

To think that I was actually in such a trash body with no talent, well, if anybody heard that, they would never believe it.

I mean, I wasn't lucky or anything, it was just that I had my knowledge and the years spent in the Library of Karmic Records as my greatest pawns for growth.

Basically, with those two cards in my hand, I could almost perfectly emulate a genius.

Anyways, I started walking out of the training room, as the time allocated for our training had ended, but, I suddenly stopped and looked back at her with my head turned halfway, my forehead pointing down at an angle, as I suddenly thought of something.

"You should use one of the opportunities to spend time with me today, I want to go show you something."

"Will we need to skip classes?" She asked, clearly surprised by my sudden request.

"No, it'll be after classes for the day have ended, it's just a quick thing, but I think you'll like it."

Then, without waiting for a response, I left, as I thought about what I was about to do.

It was now time for Vasilie to learn a few more hard truths about the world.

Thanks for reading!
