39 Pampering June Henderson

June Henderson soon realized that she was not quite fit for motherhood.

Aside from annoying nausea and bloating, she was further displeased by the changes that happened in her body.

She used to be such a sexy, alluring little lady who only needed to curl her finger to get a man to come close to her. Right now, in the second trimester of her pregnancy, she could not even get a dog to come close to her.

June's self-esteem was at the bottom of the lowest pit on earth.

She tried to comfort herself by going on a shopping spree. Now that she was the wife of Primavera's general manager, she could afford it. Unfortunately, she had not been having a great time at all.

With her bulging belly, she was unable to fit into any fashionable clothes. The disrespectful floor staff kept persuading her to go to the maternity section, and it infuriated her even more.

"I know what I want to buy, thank you!" she snapped angrily when another thin-as-a-twig salesgirl came to provoke her. After being screamed at once, she quickly disappeared from June's sight. Only to be replaced by another.

"Hello, Mrs. Henderson."

June inadvertently scowled at the person who was unable to read her mood. Her sour expression was replaced by an astonished one when she saw who it was.

A gorgeous blond woman stood in front of her. June knew right away who she was. She was the blond beauty who bragged about her amateur-level perfume back during Grandpa Henderson's birthday dinner. Unfortunately, she was unable to put a name on the person.

"Do you still remember me?" the beauty's luscious lips curled up into a sensuous smile.

God.

Must she look so pretty when June looked like she just swallowed a watermelon???

"I do," the pregnant lady remarked in an aggrieved tone. "We spoke a little bit during the party, but I didn't catch your name."

The blond woman extended her hand in June's direction and beamed at her.

"My name is Leah Mitchell. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mrs. Henderson."

June took Leah's hand. Her self-esteem took another hit when she touched the other lady's perfectly manicured hands.

God.

She needed to go to a spa, immediately!

June cleared her throat.

"Well, have fun shopping around here. I think I have enough. The floor attendants are very rude and not helpful at all!"

She deliberately shouted the last sentence so that the infuriating ladies could hear her.

"Ohh," Leah Mitchell gave her a placating smile. "Mrs. Henderson, not everyone is used to serving a classy person like you."

"..."

Maybe she could stay a little bit and talk to Leah Mitchell.

"You have such an amazing skin complexion and you are practically glowing from motherhood!"

Really?

"You are just being too generous with your compliments," June said, all the while hoping that she was not. "I look hideous. My feet are swollen and..."

"Shshshh..."

Leah took June by the hand and led her to the second floor.

"You are just saying that because you haven't found the right clothes yet."

June's eyes widened in astonishment when she saw the beautiful clothes that were designed to highlight women's beauty even during pregnancy.

The pregnant woman in the poster could be her!

Leah helped June pick out some clothes. She then offered to take her to her usual spa to get some relaxation massage and skin treatments.

"I always think that women need to pamper themselves from time to time," Leah told June as they lay next to each other with just towels wrapped around their bodies.

Behind them, the masseuses worked wonders with their deft and trained hands. They quickly loosened the knots and relieved the tense muscles on the two women's bodies. The sweet aromatic scent from the incense burner was so relaxing. June did not know how long she slept, but once she woke up, she felt like she had just been reborn.

"That was good," she sighed when they sat together for a leg and foot spa treatment. The water was neither too hot, nor too cold. The temperature was just right to ease her blood circulation.

"I should do this more often," she mused.

"You should," Leah shot June a sweet smile. "You deserve it. Behind every successful man stood a supportive woman. You are the general manager's greatest support system."

June scoffed. It felt great to know that someone outside of the company saw that. Chris Henderson was nothing without her.

"Well, I try my best to be helpful."

"I heard about Primavera's ambitious goal this year," Leah said.

"Hmm? What goal?"

Leah faked an astonished look when June did not know what she was talking about.

"Oh, didn't you know, Mrs. Henderson? According to the rumors, Primavera plans to offer the R&D Manager position to the winner of the Best Original Perfume Competition 2022."

The news effectively wiped the smile off June's face.
