We are getting out of here

He wasn't going to let this man stand between them and the exit, Neo was talking a lot of nonsense anyway.

Let him lick his neck, ha! Vampires weren't real and no one was going to persuade him, "I am going to ask you very politely, mister. Get out of the way."

Markus did not move, he didn't understand why Mathias was acting this way. Why was he pushing him away instead of grazing his lips with his?

"I can not let you leave me-"

Nathaniel pushed past him, Neo was still a little wobbly on his feet. Markus just stood there and let them pass, he slowly turned around and watched their retreating backs.

'First I had to watch as they pulled Mathias from my arms and now...' He sighed and heard the church door slam shut, "I have to see him walk away from as if I am nothing..."

His face contorted in sadness and he walked to the window and watched the two boys climb on... "What kind of contraption is that?"

Neo and Nathaniel jumped on their bicycles, "I am never going to fall for your pretty speeches to come to a haunted building again!"

Neo shrugged as they drove away, not knowing of the eyes that were following them from the church. "I said it would be good did I not?"

"You said there will be a vampire and that man up at that church is nothing more than a man in a costume!" Nathaniel said loudly, "How much were you paying him?"

Neo glanced back, "Pay him? You think I orchestrated this whole meeting?"

"It is just like you, Neo." Nathaniel stated, "You would do anything for a good joke."

Neo hadn't answered him, they were heading back into town and Nathaniel just wanted to get home and rest.

This little encounter had drained him of all of his energy, they stopped before his house and Neo turned to him when he stopped behind him.

"I didn't orchestrate this ordeal, I only went after the rumours that I have read on the internet," Neo said while licking his lips.

Nathaniel narrowed his eyes, he knew that lip-licking very well. It meant that Neo had another bright idea and he was not going to like it.

"Why are the wheels in your head turning, Neo?" Nathaniel asked and climbed off his bicycle.

"You are not going to like my idea..." Neo said but stayed on his bicycle, "I think we should investigate the man in the church."

Nathaniel's eyes widened, "No! No... There is no way in hell!"

"See I have told you, you would not like my idea," Neo said in a huff.

Neo was crazy, he had always had these weird ideas that always got them in trouble with the authorities and thus time Nathaniel just want to get through high school without any problems.

"Your ideas always get us in trouble, Neo," Nathaniel said in a soft voice.

"Where had your sense of adventure go?" Neo asked him in turn, "You always wanted to be part of the adventure."

The answer was simple, but Nathaniel couldn't tell Neo to his face. He had matured and found these little things a hindrance.

The other reason was that his mother didn't want him hanging around Neo anymore. She told him that if he didn't get his grades up soon... He would have to go to a hostel far away and he didn't want to leave.

"I just... I just want to get through high school, Neo." Nathaniel replied, "So let us come up with something else for our school project."

Neo didn't answer him and turned his bicycle and left Nathaniel standing in front of the gate of his house.

"He is angry with me..." Nathaniel said out loud and with a sigh, he opened the gate to his house.

He rolled his bicycle in and saw that his mother was waiting before the door, "I thought I told you that you are not allowed to see Neo anymore."

Nathaniel smiled at her, "We are together on a school project."

She rolled her eyes, "I am going to talk with your teacher then. Neo is bad info-"

Nathaniel paused as his mother went quiet, she was looking him up and down, "What happened to you?"

She walked from the door and stooped in front of him, she reached for his neck. "Are these needle marks? Are you doing drugs?" Her voice went high pitched, "Nathaniel tells me the truth!"

He shrugged her off, "Mom, I am not doing drugs. We went to the abandoned church and we found a weirdo pretending to be a vampire and he bit me."

"Then we should get you a rabies shot! What were you doing at that abandoned church?"

She had grabbed his arm and dragged him into the house, "You should never have gone to that place, Nathaniel."

Why was everyone so worried about the abandoned church? Somehow he felt that his mother was acting a bit weird and she only stopped when they were in the bathroom.

"Clean yourself up, I am going to contact the doctors." She said and left him before the bathroom door.

'She is acting completely strange.' He thought but did what she had said and went to clean himself.

Rosetta walked to the kitchen and picked up the phone, she dialled a number. She waited for it to ring and a voice answered, "Hunter X, how may we be of assistance?"

"This is Rosetta, he has awakened." She said softly into the receiver.

"Are you sure?" The voice asked surprised.

"Yes... The two teeth marks in my son's neck say so." She kept her voice low for the fear that Nathaniel might hear.

"Rosetta, you have left us for the reason that you did not believe in what we are doing... So why should I believe you?"

Rosetta let out a deep sigh before answering, "Why do you think I have moved to the town where the abandoned church is? I never thought that-"

"Wait! Did you move there? So you have not abandoned your calling?" The voice was talking faster, "But you can never return... You have a family now."
