"You sound like someone trying to convince me you have better things to do when you really don't," Mauve said with her back to Louis as she walked into the library.

"You know as soon as Jael leaves, you always have something mean to say about me and you act like some angel in front of him."

"Remember, you can only see what you are in other people," she laughed at the look of horror on Louis' face.

"Enough about this. Did you sleep well?"

Mauve nodded and turned away from him, praying her thoughts wouldn't stray.

"You were late for the first meal. Woke up late?" He asked.

"Something like that," she replied.

"Does it have anything to do with the scarf?" He asked with an amused expression.

"Mind your business!" She found herself yelling.

"Okay," he responded and walked further into the library.
