"I don't want to be a nuisance and I want to help you as much as I can but I don't think you'll ever let me do that. Besides, it's not a problem, Mill handled it and I am fine."
Mauve let out a loud breath at the end of her words. She could tell from Jael's expression that she had said too much. She shouldn't have gone off on him simply because she felt some kind of way.
He stared at her wide-eyed for a couple of seconds and then ran his hands through his hair. Mauve heard a loud sound as he took a deep breath.
"Because of me you've come under danger several times already and the last time you could have died. What's the point if I can't protect you?"
"But I'm fine, you don't have to worry so much."
"I have to. You're weak, fragile and small. It's my job to keep you safe."
Mauve winced at his words, she knew she was all this but he didn't have to say it out loud. "I'm not that weak," she mumbled.
