261 261. Like A Child

Jael felt like a child as Mauve asked him several questions. He wasn't that tired but there was no way he would admit that he was grumpy because she didn't come to see him. Did she prefer to stay in the dark room over being with him?

She hadn't even looked excited to see him. It was a ridiculous reason to be upset but somehow he was. She approached him with concerned eyes.

"You look pale, do you feel unwell?" She asked as she stopped in front of him. She stood on her tiptoes and touched his cheeks.

He flinched at the warmth of her skin against his and she pulled back her hand immediately. Jael bit the inside of his mouth. Somehow he didn't want her to stop touching him.

"Vampires don't get sick,'' he said darkly. His tone was harsher than he intended. "It's just the lack of blood."

He knew he needed to feed soon, he had overexerted himself. He didn't have to write out all the letters today but he had ended up doing so.
