"What did you tell him? Why did go off like that?" Mrs. Gibson had asked her the moment Lucian left the house, looking livid and murderous. Celia was too shocked to utter anything apart from a whimper. She was scared, and shaking in fear. What did she unleash? Why did she have to say these things? But why was he hellbent on keeping her by his side?

Mrs. Gibson let her go, making her almost stumble backward. She did not protest because at the moment she felt devastated and lost. She felt mad at herself but also felt as if she deserved this.

She should never deserve to be happy, not a monster like her.
