The Vampire's Curse

She was not the woman of his dreams. She was rather the woman who came and turned his life upside down. Did love even exist? Why did she have to forgive him for things he did? He did not do them because he loved her. He did them because he wanted them all to herself. He didn't want to lose her and did what would benefit him. He never thought about others so why would she think about him. She was only meant to save herself. She was not some Messiah who came to deliver the world. As she looked at him all she felt was disgust. She didn't think that she loved him anymore. She didn't have a soul. He had destroyed it. His eyes raked over her body and he could not contain the lust that he felt towards her. His pupils turned dark as she ran her hands over his chest. He wanted to grab her by the throat and kiss her. Hold her under the moon and tell her how much he had been miserable since she had left but he knew that was not what she wanted to hear. The moon accentuated her curves and all he wanted was to run his hand all over her body. He knew it was not going to last. He had not seen her for over a decade and now she was back. He has thought that he did not feel anything for her but every time he looked at her he felt alive again. He wanted to let her go but couldn't and did not know why. It's like she was a drug that was in his system that he couldn't wash away. If he could go back in time he would have never met her. If he would have never met her a lot of things would have never happened. He was not her knight in shining armor the same way she was not the woman for his heart. She was the woman who made his life a living hell and he still did not understand why she still brought him to his knees every time.

COFFEE SHOP

The chirping of birds woke him up from his lumber.

He moved around in bed and opened his eyes to adjust the light that was streaming from his window. He was glad he was able to enjoy some of the few things that other vampires could not.

He stood up from his bed and went by the window and opened the window letting in the fresh air.

The wind blew his skin with such force that one would think it had been held behind with some power and he had just released it.

The cicadas swung from left to right creating a rhythmic harmony. However much he loved to stare at it and be lost in the beauty of the world he did not have the time of day.

As Edmund walked around town all eyes were on him and he wondered why a lot of people were looking at him.

Most of them were women.

They stood near stalls as they whispered to one another asking who he was. They had not seen him before and it was not long before some of them started creating stories about him.

Every woman's dream was to get married to a rich man who also had power. No one wanted to be married to a peasant.

He became a pawn that they wanted to win. They wanted to know who he would choose between them to be the sire of his children.

His mouth tasted blunt and he desperately needed a cup of coffee. He saw a coffee shop around the corner and decided to go and drink some coffee.

The moment he stepped foot inside the coffee shop the bell that was on top of the door dinged signaling that there was a new customer.

He made his way to the counter but there was no one there. What was the use of the bell at the door if no one came to serve him? He pressed the bell there waiting for someone to come.

He turned to look around the restaurant and there were only two people around. One male who when he looked closely at him seemed to be royalty.

He could not figure out the woman he was with but he was about to find out soon as she stood up and turned.

Great, it was the nurse. He had thought that it was a big town but he somehow ended up seeing the same people over and over again.

"Hello good morning, what would you like to order ?", she asked him with a sweet smile as he went behind the counter.

"Do you normally flirt with the customers that come here and forget that you have to serve others ?", he asked her

"Am sorry what ?", she asked him.

He was not implying what Erin thought he was. Then again she was at work she wouldn't risk arguing with a customer.

"Do you flirt with everyone that comes in here ?", he asked her again.

She scoffed and bit her tongue fighting everything in her not to lash out and say the most disrespectful things to him.

"Sorry sir is there anything you would like to order ?", she asked him smiling politely.

Curtis wondered what was taking the gentleman so long to order. He stood up from his seat and made his way to the counter.

"Excuse me is there a problem here ?", he asked Edmund.

"No there is no problem here, I was just giving her my order but she seemed a little bit slow since I haven't gotten it yet ", he said smacking his lips.

"Take a seat she will get you your order ", Curtis said to Edmund trying not to lose it.

"I would do that but you see he hasn't ordered yet ", said Erin turning to look at Edmund.

"I did maybe you didn't hear me, black coffee with two sugars and cheesecake ", he said.

"Okay ill be with you in a minute ", she said.

There was something with Curtis that Edmund could not figure out. There were so many species that were mixed that you could not figure out which was which.

He was not a vampire though but so was he not a human being. There was something about him that he could not point out but he just let it be.

His coffee arrived a few minutes later and he took a sip of it. It was horrible he now understood why the coffee shop was empty.

He hoped that at least their pastry was good because they couldn't be bad at both of the things that they sold.

He took a piece of the cheesecake and tasted it. Its sugary flavor melted in his mouth and he savored the spongy nature of the cake.

It was a delight and it was something that he could get used to eating every morning if only the cafe had been close to their residence.

The vanilla and chocolate mix tasted divine and he could not stop himself from moaning. He could not resist it.

The dinging of the door ball brought him back to his senses as he realized that he was still at the restaurant and not at home.

He continued to eat his cake without turning to a knowledge who had entered the cafe because he had thought that it was just a random customer like him.

It was the laughter that caught his attention. Only one person laughed like that and that was his sister Katelyn.

He turned around and there she was at the counter exchanging words with Erin as they burst into laughter.

Curtis stood up from his seat as he went over to where they were and exchanged a few words with Erin and left the cafe.

Edmund also made his way over to the counter to inform his sister he was there too.

Katelyn was shocked to see Edmund at the cafe. It was not his usual spot. She would have guessed that the bar would be a place that he frequented often not a cafe and not eating cheesecake.

"Brother what are you doing g here don't tell me you're staking me ?", Katelyn said sarcastically with a smug smile on her face.

"Come on, you know I have better things to do than chase you around town trying to figure out what you're up to", he said as he placed the plate on the counter.

"So this is your brother huh", said Erin chuckling.

"Yeah you don't remember him I was with him at the hospital ", said Katelyn.

"No I don't think so, I would have if he had caught my attention seems like he didn't ", said Erin.

"Okay ladies I'll be on my way out and let you guys talk about me ", said Edmund as he left the cafe.
