The End?

When the end does come, will you know when?

While the technology of today can guess various things that can be associated with the extinction of mankind there will be no specific date. Only when the end is here will we know it. If you ask me when did I realize that the end is here. I guess the answer will be the night that I wished for the sun to rise and wake me up in that nightmare. Yes, it was the night everything began

"Yes, mom, I'll lock my room and I already ate so you don't have to worry about me" I replied to my mom who is in my hotel room.

"Okay, dear, your father and I will be on the second floor. There is a buffet and it will end at 9pm so when you're hungry just follow us alright? See you later!" my mom replied with a smile.

She closed the door to my hotel room so I went back to my bed. We are staying at a hotel and although it is quite expensive my mom and dad wanted to celebrate. They were so thrilled to the point where I started to wonder whether they're to the ones who were accepted into the university. Nonetheless, I was happy to see them smiling, it made me feel like all my hard work didn't go to waste. It was then that they decided to celebrate it extravagantly by going on a trip to Japan and now we are here at the hotel.

It was 6pm when I looked at the clock with nothing to do, I turned on the television. I kept on switching the channel

While I grew up in the US I am half Japanese and my mom taught me Japanese so it wasn't an issue even if it is a local show. I didn't stop looking for shows to ease my boredom that is when the headline of a news caught my interest.

" Missing population? A rural village with no one in it"

I continued watching and the camera changed from the one in the studio to the reporter in the village.

"We found out that the village is empty when a relative of someone living in the village decided to come back home only to find their house empty. It was night when he came so he didn't find it strange that no one was walking on the streets. He thought it was strange but he realized that something was wrong when he found no one in their house.

That is when he contacted the police, which is a quite far from the village. According to the police there are no indications that the people were forced to leave. However, there are no signs that they left as well. This case has left the police confused. They said that they will investigate further for any clues and if there are anyone who is aware of what happened to step forward and contact them that is a-"

I decided to turn off the tv because I was no longer interested and decided to play a game on my computer instead until I felt sleepy. I went to my bed and looked at the clock.

" It's 8:30pm huh.. I guess I'll sleep"

I messaged my mom first before going to sleep.

I woke up to the sound of loud banging on my door. I first looked at the clock

" It's just 10pm, is that my mom knocking?" I was just about to open the door when I heard screams outside my window. The fear-filled screams made me rush to the window and there I saw people running though I can't see them properly because I'm on the 14th floor added by the fact that it's still nighttime.

"What's going on?" I asked myself realizing the strangeness of the situation and opened the door.
