1 Not so crazy first day

"This is Sheen Natalia, the second-born child of..." The mentor looked at me like she was asking me to finish her sentence.

"My mother is a healer and my father is a second-born child so..." Now, all eyes are on me, exactly all. Then I hear murmurs around and I don't need to hear them clearly to know what they are talking about. "Yeah, nothing special about me. So nothing to worry about, nothing here is your competitor."

"Ok Ms. Natalia, you could take a sit anywhere except for those taken of course." I gave a slight bow to the mentor in front of me, oh well I haven't got her name, and then I took a seat third row from the back of the lecture hall.

That was an easy introduction, I just hope things would go smoother than I'm expecting.

~You wish~

Woah there! Am I now talking to myself? But that doesn't sound like me talking to me in my head. It sounds more like a man than me.

Maybe it was some mind reader. According to some books I've read, mind readers could talk to someone through telepathy, so that must be true. But I thought first-born child can only acquire their special powers once they reached eighteen years of age?

I looked around to see if I can find someone who might be at their eighteen. But it's kinda hard to find out their ages just by looking at them.

~Keep looking.~

THIS IS SO ANNOYING! I looked at the back row, just by looking at them I can see that they are the first-born children in this class. They already look powerful even though they haven't possessed their special powers yet.

There was a guy sitting isolated from others. Maybe he doesn't want to sit with others because who would not want to sit beside him? I mean, he looks like-- scary, I almost dropped from my seat when he looked at me. His stare... No not stare, his glare is almost suffocating me.

I looked away from him. He's obviously not the mind-invading-then-talking guy. I looked to the guy two seats to my left, he was looking at me laughing along with his two companion. I narrowed my eyes at them, causing them to laugh harder. One of these three must be it. Wait until I find-

"Okay, so let's proceed to the water chamber for your first activity." What? What activity? Why water chamber? What activity is associated with water? Is water chamber a pool?

~You sure got a lot of questions there, You should've listened to Ms. Azura, second-born.~

You. Mister. Kept me from listening to the mentor. And I just had my introduction, are you that stupid to easily forget my name? I wish he is currently reading my mind so he could hear that.

~Your name ain't special. And I could keep reading your mind if that's what you want.~

Definitely frustrating. Other students are standing up and walking to the door. I should just go with the flow. But do I have to bring something? Are we going to be wet? I can't swim T.T

Hey mr. mind-controller, can you give me hints on what we're about to do? I could not think of any more way, I just wish he would answer decently.

~You would fail anyways, don't bother to know.~

"Hey! Sheen?" A girl approached me.

"Hey, yeah you got it right. And you must be?"

"My name's Charm, want some company?" She's so thoughtful, I think we're going to get along well.

"I think I really need one right now. Honestly, I wasn't focus to our mentor earlier. Could you tell me what we're about to do?" I didn't hesitate to ask her because she looks so kind.

"So that explains why you look so nervous seeing others going somewhere." She holds her laughter while saying that. "We are about to have water control class." Ooh controlling water. So that's what we'll do.

"A water chamber a pool?" She burst out laughing.

~Can you get more stupid?~

Oh shut up! No one wants you.

"Anyone not there within ten minutes will have demerits." Ms. Azura said then walked out the door.

"Okay let me tell you everything you want to know while we walk to the chamber which is definitely not a pool haha." Charm told me while dragging me out of the room.

"And I think you will want to be careful around those first-borns at the back earlier." Charm is currently orienting me of what she thinks I need to know.

"Why? I thought they weren't supposed to get a hold of their powers until they are eighteen?" I asked her as we walked towards a door with a symbol resembling water.

"Well they think they are superior here, especially Sasha and her girls. Beware of them. And a couple of the first-borns already turned eighteen." I must ask her later who are those already has powers, so I can find Mr. mind-invading-then-talking. But for now, I should really listen to Ms. Azura.

"Two more minutes then we'll proceed to the activity." Ms. Azura announced to everyone.

"Talk to you later." Charm told me then walked off to her place somewhere in the middle of the class.

Now what? I decided to find a place near the back since I can see the first-borns hovering in the front, probably trying to show everyone what they can do. "Ms. Natalia?" I turned around and Ms. Azura came face-to-face with me.

"Yes miss?" I felt anxious, not knowing what she's going to say.

"Since you are two weeks behind everyone, I would appreciate if you want to learn on your free time just until you can keep up with us." At least she wasn't talking to me 'cause I did something wrong.

"Isn't it a bother for you miss?" I don't want to bother her outside lessons.

"I was thinking, maybe I can get some of your classmates to help you. Some are really talented and I know they can teach you very well. And it would be a great start to befriending your classmates." I'm not really feeling good about that idea.

"Maybe that can do. If they are willing then I'm grateful." I answered with a forced smile.

"Ok let's talk after class. But for now, you can observe others or you can try if you want." I nodded, and she walked off to the front. I'm getting this feeling that something's about to go wrong. Maybe I shouldn't have agreed to Ms. Azura and told her I would learn on my own. I'll just hope that things will get just a little crazy.

I found my self a place at the back, our mentor talking to the class of what to do in this activity. I look at the basin full of water in front of me, are they learning something I don't know?

One by one, students began to move water and raise them in the air. Most of the first-borns at the front are doing good, but I could see the struggles of those in the middle. Charm gave me quick lessons earlier of who are the first-borns, and good thing I can remember quite well.

I looked around and noticed that there's a guy sitting across from me. It's the guy earlier who sat alone at the back. Well, maybe he had an obsession with backs.

I watched how he moved the water lazily, seems like he is so uninterested and is just doing it because he needed to, not because he wanted to. Well moving water is really something... boring. Maybe I would feel the thrill if I will be learning it for the first time, but no. I learned it, when... I don't know, maybe when I was ten years old? It really is fun at first, but gets boring day by day. Perhaps I should've just told Ms. Azura that I don't really need to be helped, but I think that's a worse idea because others will think I'm a threat for learning it at such a young age.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard water splashed on the basin hardly. I looked up to see the guy staring at me. Ooh. I might've stared at what he's doing longer than I thought. Now he's angry? So, what should I do?

I decided to duel him, in a staring battle. I stared at him, not tearing my gaze. He seemed to understand what I was doing and rolled his eyes at me then sat in a chair on his side. I smiled because I feel like I won over him but glared at him, you just rolled your eyes on me? Huh! He looked at me again, he seemed startled finding out that I was still staring at him but he did not show it. This time, I was the one who rolled eyes at him. Taste that! Rolling eyes are my thing, you don't use my weapon against me.

"That's all for the morning, I graded you based on what I have witnessed today. For those who barely tickled the water, you still have a chance on our next meeting here in water class." I finished my first class just watching others. The students began to take off to the exit. I waited for the crowd to thin before going upfront to our mentor.

"So Ms. Natalia, I think you just need help among your four major classes, which are Water, Earth, Air and Fire classes. Others are just character development, weapon handling and some that you can handle learning on your own." I nodded at her, not being able to think of a response. "Are you more comfortable with having one student help you in each major or just one student to help you among all?" She continued.

"If someone is willing to help me with all four, I think it's a better idea." It's better to deal with one than four.

"But we would have fewer choices if it's like that, because there are just little number of students that had already gotten the hang on fire." Figures, I also find it hard to learn fire. That's why it's my favorite. The thrill it gives everytime is satisfying.

"I can't really be that picky now, right miss? Can I know how many students I can choose from?" I asked her calmly.

"One." Whoa! That's a number to choose from. I think there would be less thinking and choosing if I only have one choice.
