1 It Begins

Liam was a young man, barely entering into adulthood and, if asked, he would probably describe his life as 'Less than ideal.' You see, Liam had dreams when he was younger, he wanted to play football, be a movie star, or even build his own video game. Then, on a seemingly uneventful day during his sophomore year in high school, it was all taken from him.

It was a morning like any other. Liam awoke after a long night of "studying", which almost always ended with him getting tilted at whatever game he ended up playing. Went downstairs, whilst yawning and stretching his arms over his head, his disheveled silver hair down over his eyes blocking most of his vision. Walking into the kitchen caused him to recoil as the strong smell of slightly overcooked bacon hit him in the face.

"What's the special occasion?" Liam asked sarcastically. "You never cook breakfast in the mornings"

"I was hungry and nobody else was awake yet. So oooobviously I'm going to make food for myself." His brunette sister retorted. She wasn't nearly as tall as Liam but as he always said 'The shorter the feistier' as her attitude usually got her in more trouble than anything else.

"So did you make anything for me?" Liam asked sincerely. "You know what they say about breakfast being the most important meal of the day. As long as it's cooked well!" He said with a wink, already grabbing himself a plate.

"Hey," She snapped. "You know as well as I do that you couldn't do any better!" Her brunette hair whipping around as she turned to face him. "I guess you can have some, but only because I made extra." She said seemingly unwillingly, but she already had utensils out for the both of them so Liam immediately grabbed a few strips of bacon and an egg. He sat at the table and immediately shoved a spoonful of eggs into his mouth.

"Thanks sis! You're the best!" Liam shouted mid bite. Liam and his sister had lived alone after his parents disappeared one day. They went on a cruise to Alaska and never came back, no bodies were found and they never heard anything again. They were cared for by their grandparents, who would stop by from time to time and send any money that they needed, but it was mainly up to Liam to ensure his sister was taken care of. Today was the last day of school before winter break and Liam was quite excited, he had some very interesting plans for the next couple weeks and couldn't wait to get them going. He quickly finished up breakfast and headed to get ready.

He put on his usual blue jeans and grey t-shirt with a black hoodie and grabbed his car keys and went back to the kitchen.

"Yo Sam you ready to roll?" He shouted through the house. "School starts soon. Get a move on!"

"Yeah, yeah I'm coming." He heard from the stairs, "don't get your panties in a bunch."

They proceeded out to Liam's car which was their parents old Ford Mustang and got on the road. It was Liam's custom to listen to music whilst driving so he had some ACDC playing on full blast and was taking the normal route to school, when suddenly the music cut out. He looked over to see his sister plugging her own phone into the adapter and a song by BTS began blaring through the vehicle.

"Hey come on, you know I hate this stuff!" Liam complained. "My car my..."

*CRUNCH*

Suddenly his world was turned upside down as the car was thrown around like a child's toy, rolled across several lanes of traffic and slammed into a tree bending it almost completely in half. Liam didn't even feel the impact of the tree as his head had slammed into the driver's side window and knocked him unconscious.

When he awoke all he felt was pain. He tried opening his eyes but could only accomplish opening one of them. He put his arm up to his other eye and could feel something wet. When he brought his hand away it was covered in a thick gooey red liquid. Slowly his mind started catching up with everything. His breathing started getting heavy and fast. Suddenly, as if a switch had been flicked, everything went calm, his mind cleared, and he went into full analysis mode. He took stock of his current position, checked over himself and then looked towards his sister. What he saw made his heart almost stop. Her once brunette covered head was almost entirely bloodied, the top of which was missing most of her hair and looked almost like someone had started a lobotomy and just decided to stop. The fresh blood still pouring from the opening and chunks of what he could only assume was her skull were scattered on the ground outside the passenger window. His mind couldn't even process this for his vision once again went black as his consciousness left him once more.

The next time he awoke was to the sound of metal tearing metal, he panicked for a moment unsure of what was happening as he felt violent tremors running through the car. He then noticed several people just outside the car with a massive mechanism attempting to rip the door off.

"It'll be okay son. We'll have you out soon." A muted voice coming from outside said reassuringly.

"G-get her f-first." Liam said slurring his speech as he pointed towards his sister who hasn't budged since his last bout of consciousness.

"Nothing we can do for her. She's already gone." The foggy voice said once more.

"No sh-she's not she's o-ok. She j-just needs shome help." He said getting more and more worried. Liam looked towards his sister again as he saw the vibrations shake something loose and watch as his sister's brain matter starts dripping through the window into the ever growing puddle of blood in the ground. This prompts him to vomit up everything from his stomach and once more enter the darkness.
