Whispers of the Past
"Granny, I... I'm not sure I understand what you mean," Sophia said, her voice barely above a whisper.
Granny chuckled, taking a seat across from them. "Oh, come now, my dear. I may be old, but I'm not blind. I've seen the way you two look at each other. There's no need to hide it from me."
Sophia felt a flush creep up her neck, and she could see the same discomfort reflected in Donald's expression.
"Granny, I... I'm afraid there's been a misunderstanding," Donald spoke up, his voice strained. "Sophia and I, we... we're not-"
But before he could finish his sentence, Granny raised a hand, silencing him. "Now, now, don't you worry, young man. I know all about your family's little arrangement, but that doesn't mean you can't find love in the process."
Sophia felt a lump form in her throat, and she glanced over at Donald, who seemed to have gone pale.
