Jack was still bewildered by the reappearance of these notifications. It was as though he had been transported into a video game, and the familiarity of it all stirred memories of a popular game he used to play before the war began.

This game was known as "Power Fights," a title that had once gripped the entire world. Its allure was so potent that it had driven students to forsake their studies, surrendering their time to the digital battlegrounds it offered. Even the military personnel had harnessed it as a means to enhance their combat skills. Yet the notification in front of Jack was eerily reminiscent of the game, with some distinctive variations. For one, it didn't merely hover in front of someone; it was an integral part of his reality.

Jack loosened his grip on the pole, and a subconscious impulse pushed him back a step. The Zombie had ceased its ominous movements, the pole now firmly lodged through its decaying skull. A significant portion of the pole had vanished within its cranium.

[Welcome host, I am the AI system]

'What is this, again?' Jack pondered, his frustration mounting. He had just vanquished another being, or perhaps something that had once been human.

[You have now acquired, The Undead System]

"The Undead System?" Jack mused, articulating the thought to himself rather than to anyone in particular.

The moment those words left his lips, a status screen materialized before his eyes.

"Whoa!" Jack exclaimed, struck by the remarkable similarity between his newfound reality and the Earth-bound game "Power Fights." The situation was bizarre, to say the least. Firstly, he had awoken in an unknown place, allegedly a laboratory owned by the enigmatic Umbrella Foundation. Secondly, he had just terminated the creature referred to as the AI system.

"Wait, did I read that correctly?" Jack questioned himself, unsure if he had fully comprehended what had unfolded. Or perhaps, he understood but found it hard to accept.

"Is this AI system designating me as an Undead?" Jack uttered, the incredulity evident in his voice.

While Jack grappled with this revelation, he took a moment to examine his reflection on a metallic wall situated across the room. What he beheld left him flabbergasted.

Since his abrupt awakening in this mysterious place, he had given little thought to his physical appearance. Understandably so, as he was more preoccupied with solving the riddles of his predicament than with his own reflection. After all, why should one be concerned with their appearance when thrust into such an enigmatic situation?

The metallic wall across the room held his reflection, and Jack was momentarily spellbound. His long, flowing black hair cascaded down to his shoulders, imparting an elegant yet eerie aura to his visage. His attire consisted of a patient's gown, which had suffered a clawing from the very zombie he had just dispatched. A makeshift fabric tie secured the gown, preventing it from unraveling. But what struck him the most was his skin.

Jack's skin was as pale as the lifeless forms strewn across the floor, yet it retained a semblance of humanity, albeit faint. Only a close inspection would reveal the subtle differences.

'This confirms it, I am indeed an Undead,' Jack mused, arriving at a tentative conclusion. He contemplated the bizarre sequence of events: waking up in the laboratory, the scientist discussing an experiment, the unfamiliar lab itself, the zombie on the floor, and now this enigmatic system.

He grappled with mixed emotions. On one hand, he was upset at being used as part of an experiment without his consent. On the other hand, he had gained a peculiar system that, while cryptic, held the promise of great power. With time, he hoped to unlock the mysteries it held.

Another intriguing aspect was his newfound identity as a character from a fantasy tale—an Undead. It stirred his curiosity, as his life had been mundane and unremarkable until this point. With this newfound power, he could embark on a remarkable journey.

Jack extended his hand to touch the floating notifications, seeking more information. To his surprise, his hand simply passed through them.

'I suppose I can't physically interact with them,' Jack thought, making a mental note of the system's ethereal nature.

Suddenly, he heard a ding sound, prompting him to look around anxiously. However, he soon realized that the sound emanated from within his own mind.

[Exp: To gain Experience points, you must complete any quest given to you]

[Gaining more Exp would enable you to level up, increasing your power]

[Each time you level up, a status point will be granted]

Jack meticulously absorbed the information provided by the system. He now understood the significance of gaining experience points and leveling up. The only unanswered question was how to utilize the status points at the bottom of his stats. That question was swiftly addressed as another notification appeared.

The last revelation that caught him off guard was his current statistics: Strength, Agility, and Stamina, all marked as ten. Jack couldn't accurately gauge how his abilities compared to those of an average human, but he resolved to test his newfound strength later.

For the moment, his priority was to escape from this eerie lab. Armed with the map he held, he felt confident in his ability to navigate the labyrinthine passages and reach freedom.

Yet, before he could make his move, ominous growls echoed from somewhere ahead.

"This is just great," Jack muttered sarcastically, frustration dripping from his words.
