In the span of ten days, Yohan, aided by a crutch and his unhelpful caretaker, Anya, embarked on practising walking again after an injury. Anya, more engrossed in online videos and her unique vampire diet than her duties, showed little interest in Yohan's progress.

Anya, bored after a while, pondered Yohan over the called-off engagement between him and Diana and openly voiced out her suspicions regarding how a princess was engaged to a mere human, especially the princess being the daughter of Sir Edward himself. Though reluctant and unwilling at first, Yohan finally confessed the intricate details of their reasons and needs to get engaged in the first place - Edward wanted a patient man who could put up with Diana's tantrums while Yohan accepted the engagement because of his desire to be not alone, shedding light on his vulnerability and sense of loneliness.
