Ramika and An Old Friend

Devitto finally guided Ramika to her classroom, a dilapidated chamber at the end of an empty corridor. No one was walking around the corridor and only the dead silence was present.

"Aaah... John? Are you one of the professors?—"

"No, actually... I was a student. And I got my license to take assassin jobs. But your guardian smacked the heck out of me and forced me to rejoin the academy as a guest lecturer to protect you."

Ramika blinked twice, swallowing the information, and slowly stepped into the classroom, where she was met with a bunch of unruly and scary-looking classmates looking towards her.

"Hmph! So, this is the human they were talking about??" a green-skinned boy, wearing the uniform restyled to his wish, with torn patches, said aloud, darting his eyes towards the new girl.

Ramika recalled what Devitto kept saying to her while they were arriving.

"The class that Ramika was about to join, was for a batch of students who were lowest of the lowest in the academy in terms of skill, attitude, focus and bloodline.

Every year these students were mostly disciplined in a harsh way and will be let off to live a peaceful life along with humans while some won't adapt to the harsh disciplinary activities, and will end up as useless goons working for mob bosses, or set up their own small group of thugs and run businesses.

But there were a few, who managed to upskill themselves and earn their Assassination license. Like your guardian, Miss Ramika Ray. Yohan Karvakarn. The infamous assassin who was known for working for only a day."

The voice of Devitto describing this to her, echoed aloud into her consciousness and she braced herself, acting according to it.

"Good Morning, everyone. I'm Ramika Ray. A human, which is a fact that you can see already... And I wish to stay in silence, not wasting my time trying to make friends here. And then do my job, get my freedom and will leave in a year or two... And leave. Thank You. Hope, you get that and cooperate with me by not minding me."

From a mere glance itself, one could say, that these students were probably not the kind to stand up and welcome new classmates, so Ramika decided to not waste strength and make efforts to make any connections. She simply introduced herself and went towards the one empty seat in the bustling classroom.

Though the seat was empty, it was accompanied by a hoodie-clad student whose eyes kept avoiding Ramika. A strange thing because almost all of them were staring at her. And that intrigued Ramika, who also found something feeling odd within her. She found the person familiar.

The frame, the build and the unexplainable feel of familiarity of the student sitting near the seat raised some questions within Ramika. It was like she knew the person already.

"Stay still, Ramika... They're still after you." The hoodie-clad student warned Ramika, as she noticed the students in the hall, sharpening pointy and shiny objects under the desks.

"Are those knives?"

"Daggers. Cheap knockoffs. Won't be as accurate as the real ones. But you'll die for sure—"

"Who are you? And I have someone to protect, so—"

"Teachers are prohibited from interfering with students' affairs. And it's an iron rule that the strongest can dictate the weakest. It's a power cycle, Rami..."

"Rami?? Hey, who are you, really? Only a few call me like that..." Ramika wondered with her eyes looking up at the hoodie girl.

"So, in 1..2...3"

*WOOOSH!*

From different corners, three students jumped up in the air, aiming their daggers at Ramika. Ramika's eyes widened in shock. Though she could see them in mid-air, on the way to pouncing on her and stabbing her, her human limitations handicapped her from reacting to it.

But the hoodie-clad student threw a sharp pencil towards one of the students and forcibly ducked Ramika under the desk.

"Stay there!"

Time moved slower for the hoodie-clad student. She was so sharp and focused that she moved at a speed, faster enough to be invisible to one's naked eyes. Seeing the trajectory of the other two students approaching Ramika, from mid-air, she quickly did her calculations.

Their aim was Ramika. So, obviously, they will land on her together, pouncing on her and assassinating her. Hence, the hoodie girl lifted up the desk under which Ramika was hiding.

"Come on, idiots!" she growled and smashed the approaching students in a single sweep, slamming them away to the corner, letting them crash into the wall and fall down.

Commotion erupted in the class, but seeing the hoodie girl taking down one of the strongest trio in the class, silenced them soon.

Sasha, Robinson and Felicia Clark were the trio notorious for being brash and cocky in the academy, breaking the rules as often as they can. And seeing a golden target walking down into the room, triggered them. Thus promoting them to act.

But it was all part of the plan and was expected to happen. It was just that Ramika didn't know any of it.

"Who the fuck are you?? And why—"

"Yohan sent me, bitch... And don't be too shocked. I owe you for tricking you into drinking that soda as well."

"What? What soda?" Ramika looked perplexed and the hoodie girl shook her head, disappointed.

"So, the fucker didn't say anything to you, huh? Damn!" The girl slowly removed her hoodie and wore back her pink glasses, thus revealing herself to the dumbfounded Ramika, who gasped in shock.

"SANA?"

"YUP."

I'm mentally going through a minor struggle, so the chapter releases may be uneven and sometimes irrational in their timings. But three chapters will be released every week, for sure.
