105 Chapter 105 Part 1

Game of Thrones is a very... complicated world. The zombies alone are reason enough to avoid it at all costs. I have watched the TV Series, and it is ridiculous to me, how easily the Night King was dealt with. I know for a fact if I was there, you couldn't deal with him with such ease, and that's ignoring the fact that Aria somehow teleported behind him... No, I think he was severely misrepresented in the TV Show. And I am not excited to find meet him personally. Just thinking about him gives me nightmares.

I didn't know where I would start in Planetos. It could be in the heart of Westeros, or a city somewhere in Essos. I had no way to tell. This means I have to go with a plan that could work regardless of the situation. My strategy is quite simple: amass as much knowledge as I could before embarking on my journey.

Planetos was a medieval world where the word technology doesn't even exist yet and being in a relatively advanced world before it self-destroyed, I have to use that to my advantage. For example, having a Firearm in Westeros would make me invincible, but that plan went down the drain with the rules imposed by the system. But it says nothing about making them myself. The problem with that? I have no idea where to start. And I have no reason to fixate on it either.

Nevertheless, I had other ways to amass power in such an underdeveloped world, two immediately come to mind. The first one can be used in almost any world I could find myself in: money. Yes, as much as Cersei likes her clever little quotes, money IS power, and it doesn't take a genius to figure out how. The Lannisters were not feared for their physical strength, nor did they have any extraordinary properties to be feared. What truly made the Lannisters fearsome was their ability to shit gold, and gold can buy you almost anything if you're smart enough.

This means coming up with ways to make huge amounts of money in a short time frame, and I have read enough Game of Thrones fanfictions to know how this usually goes. But if I am being completely honest, I don't want to go that road. I don't wish to be stuck managing businesses when I could be fighting people, getting more experience, to survive the endgame. Because no matter how rich I am, how influential I am, I have to be able to fight the Night King one on one. Even if I raise an army big enough, I doubt it would be sufficient to deal with ice zombies. At most, they'll deal with the wights, their footsoldiers.

The other way to become a powerful figure in Planetos is through religion. I wasn't sure how many faiths there are in that world, but I remember a few. The faith of the Seven, the most important one in Southern Westeros.

The old gods, worshiped by the northerners, the wildlings aka free-folk beyond the wall, and the Children of the Forest. R'hllor, the Lord of Light, though he is only worshipped in Essos, until Melissandre and Thoros.

The God of Death, the Many-Faced God, or as the faith of the seven calls him: The Stranger, worshipped by the faceless men, a sect of nameless assassins.

The Great Stallion, worshipped by the Dothraki, a race of fierce warriors who grow up amidst blood and gore, learning to kill before learning to walk.

But using those religions to my advantage remains to be seen. I can already forget about using the Lord of Light, as he is one of the few that actively communicates with his worshippers. Meaning their priests would be able to call my bullshit immediately. And the same way I can eliminate the God of Death. While the faceless men are very influential, their influence wouldn't do me much good for my ambitions.

But concentrating on the present, for now, I've been in this library for the past few days, scanning through the books of this library I found myself in. I've tasked Daryl with looking for such facilities, even keeping track of libraries he finds while looting houses. He gave me weird looks but still did it.

It was a tedious, repetitive task that took more time than it deserves, especially because I am not reading any of the books, only making sure to save them in my own library, so I could read them should I ever decide to.

* DING *

Save every book in the building in your library.

*Reward:

[Devour Book]

Consume a book to save it to your library. Can only be applied to books you can store in your inventory.

The skill will save me so much time in the future, so it made working extra hours to make sure I got every book worth it. I have no doubt some would serve no purpose for me, as I was mostly interested in the hard sciences. But I'd rather have them and not need them than need them and not have them. I have been here long enough, it's time I got back to Motherbase.

I made my way out to find a group of walkers waiting for me at the door. I've seen them on the map, evidently, but frankly, I don't particularly care about Walkers anymore. They are a nuisance at worst because of how ridiculously weak they are. I don't need to expend any effort to deal with them. Hitting them with my strength is enough to blow up their heads. Using [Empower] is just overkill. It's understandable why staying in this world wouldn't benefit me in any way. Unless it involves guns, I can win almost any fight.

I took out my throwing knives, my most powerful skill when dealing with pests that would taint my clothes with their stink, before getting inside my car and driving off.

In the past month, I have been doing my best to grind my skills for my upcoming departure. I didn't have much luck with most of my skills, regrettably.

* Prerequisite: Aura Manipulation LVL 1

<>

It seems that [Aura Manipulation] is the core skill of the [Warrior] class, the next step of [Empower]. But to unlock it, I need to go to the next world... Which means I can't benefit from either class or profession until then. One more reason to get the hell out of here... But if you are wondering why I haven't done that already, I have extremely important projects pending, before I can consider doing that.

I drove through the empty roads, eerily silent despite the danger lurking at every corner. I could the journey back home better with some music... Hopefully, I'll get that included in the system soon. I doubt I'll find any music players in Planetos.

After two hours of continuous driving, I could finally see Motherbase in the distance. But contrary to the first time we arrived here, the area around it was not empty. In fact, you could see people outside of the confine of the former prison working outside, the occasional tree falling down suddenly thanks to their efforts. Timber is the primary building resource for us at the moment, so we never cease harvesting more of it.

While Wood isn't the toughest material we can use, it's abundantly available in the immediate vicinity, and it is rather easy to use. And the tools we use to mold it consume a renewable resource, thanks to our solar panels. They had a huge impact on our productivity here at Motherbase, accelerating our building efforts by weeks at the very least.
