Xia Tian laid on the bed, feeling as if he were in a dream. It was a beautiful dream; a nurse stood before him, and underneath the nurse's white coat was a green, short-sleeved shirt, and white pants.

This was without a doubt a beautiful dream to a boy like Xia Tian.

"Huh? You're awake." The nurse was scouring the medical instruments when she turned and noticed Xia Tian looking back at her. Xia Tian's piercing gaze made her feel vulnerable.

Xia Tian, caught in his dream, was speechless. Instead, he continued to admire the beautiful sight before him.

Feeling uneasy, the nurse hastily stumbled out of the room, shouting, "Doctor Li, Doctor Li! The patient in the ICU is awake."

"You're leaving? Don't go." Xia Tian sat up. It was then that he was overcome with gruesome pain.

What was going on? Xia Tian lowered his gaze. He was covered in bandages and stitched-up wounds, and his body was cut and bruised. One of his arms was hooked up to an IV.

'Ouch! That hurts! If I'm not dreaming right now, what was that before? How was I able to see through that nurse's clothing?' Just as Xia Tian was wrapped in his thoughts, a man and a woman walked in through the door. They were dressed in short sleeves, and their white coats were missing. Xia Tian could not believe his eyes, and closed them for a short time before reopening them again. Their white coats appeared.

'Maybe this is an illusion?' Xia Tian wanted to find out whether he was in a dream and just then, the earlier scene was reenacted— the white coats vanished.

'It's real.' A fit of dizziness overwhelmed him before Xia Tian could immerse himself in this pleasant surprise.

"Who told you to get up? Your stitches haven't been removed so you mustn't move about." Doctor Li looked at Xia Tian unhappily. He was a resident doctor of the hospital and knew the patient in this room was no ordinary person. The hospital administration had been instructed to take extra care of this patient.

Xia Tian recalled the reason he was here. His girlfriend broke up with him just days before the National College Entrance Examination1. With his mind in turmoil, Xia Tian had wanted to take a stroll when he saw a little girl in the middle of the street. A minivan had appeared, but Xia Tian managed to push the little girl away in the nick of the time. He, however, was sent flying. His injuries were caused by the resulting road rash.

However, why did he suddenly possess such ability? He knew his eyes were not playing tricks on him; an average hot-blooded man would never forget what he had just seen, and it was as though he had some kind of X-ray vision, allowing him to see through the nurse's coat. This ability, however, could not be in constant use; the dizzy spell he experienced earlier had to be a side effect of the X-ray vision.

"Young man?"

Xia Tian gave no reaction despite Doctor Li's efforts to call his attention, leaving Doctor Li's expression growing grave. The situation did not look good for Xia Tian. He would have been long gone if his injuries were in his vital areas.

Xia Tian's injuries might have already been taken care of but it would put the doctor in a tight spot if he had suffered brain damage. The higher-ups of the hospital had made clear that he had to recover.

"We still can't contact his family?" Doctor Li frowned. Although money was not an issue as the bill had already been paid for, Doctor Li wanted to ask the patient's family if there was any existing medical history that could give light to why he acted like a dummy upon regaining consciousness.

"His mobile phone was smashed to pieces and his SIM card is missing. The businesses around have also been questioned, but nobody knows him." The nurse shook her head.

"Dress his wounds. I'm going to give Director Ceng a call." Doctor Li left the room, in need to explain the situation. The person Xia Tian rescued was no ordinary person; she was the daughter of Jianghai City's most famous career woman, Ceng Rou.

The nurse gently laid Xia Tian flat and cautiously redressed his wounds. With his stitches freshly removed, sudden movements could add to his injury.

Xia Tian stared in a daze without saying a word but his eyes were fixated on the nurse.

Everything in plain sight shifted before his eyes. Using just his will, he could see through the nurse's coat, and anything beneath that flashed before him.

The nurse left the room after taking care of Xia Tian's bandages, feeling terrified of Xia Tian's gaze. Xia Tian stared blankly for a long time before reverting to his normal self.

He could now confirm that he possessed a supernatural ability; Insight2.

'No, the NCEE's just around the corner. I can't stay here for too long.' Xia Tian did not want to delay his exam or it would be another year before he could enter college.

'How long have I been here? My cousin sister must be worried sick.' Xia Tian did not know how long he had been in the hospital. He never knew his mother, and his father died when he was fourteen. From then on, he grew up in his aunt's home. His cousin sister bought a house near her school when she went to college, and as his aunt was concerned about his cousin sister's safety, she had him stay with his cousin sister.

Although he rarely returned to that house, he would still make a few trips there each month. The place was far from his school, explaining his merely occasional visits.

Lifting his gaze, he caught a glimpse of the calendar on the wall. It was less than two weeks until the NCEE.

'No, I have to leave quickly or I'll miss the exam. Father had always hoped that I would study well and make it to college. I can't fail him.' Xia Tian tried moving his body. Rather than being in a rush, he slowly inched his way this time to prevent reopening his wounds.

"What are you doing? Lie down." There was a surveillance camera in Xia Tian's room. The nurse immediately ran in to stop him.

The nurse had exceedingly good looks. She did not have any makeup on, and yet she looked more beautiful than a celebrity. Xia Tian could not help but ogle at her.

"I want to be discharged. I don't have any money to pay you." Although Xia Tian's aunt was well to do, he never asked a penny from her. He paid his school fees from the money left behind by his father while his monthly expenditures came from taking odd jobs.

"Your hospital fees have already been paid for. It's better for you to lie down. You haven't recovered from your wounds, that will take at least a few months." Although the nurse was uncomfortable with Xia Tian's glares, she was still a nurse and Xia Tian's full time caretaker. She had to nurse Xia Tian back to health.

"A few months?" Xia Tian did not have a few months. "No, there are only two weeks before my NCEE. I can't wait any longer."

"NCEE?" The nurse paused. She heard a few things about Xia Tian. Xia Tian was wounded from rescuing the daughter of Jianghai City's No. 1 career woman, Ceng Rou. This young man's brave act of saving Ceng Rou's daughter would naturally be rewarded. Ceng Rou would definitely pay her due with a large sum of cash and with the money, he could enter any college that he liked.

"Where are my clothes? I want to be discharged." Xia Tian was adamant. He did not want to have to miss the examination that he had been studying hard for, for he had promised his father he would be attending college. This was despite unemployment being incredibly high for college graduates, so much that it could be said that unemployment was guaranteed for graduates. Still, it was his father's wish for him to attend college by his own effort.

Growing up, his father has always been strict with him. Even though he was not proficient in the four arts of Chinese scholars (TN: zither, chess, calligraphy, and painting), he had dabbled his hand in all of them, including the eight trigrams, five elements, and the Book of Changes.

"We threw them out. You can't be discharged now." The nurse stiffened her back in a gesture of determination.

"Uh!" Xia Tian was at a loss. "It's black."

Hearing Xia Tian's words, the nurse was initially puzzled but she quickly came to her senses. Xia Tian was talking about the color of her inner garments. The color was correct, too.

She quickly checked on her clothing but found nothing amiss.

"Ah!" The nurse swiftly covered herself. Sure, there was nothing wrong with her clothing but she felt the need to cover herself.

"What's going on?" Doctor Li happened to be walking through the door when he heard the nurse scream. His attention immediately turned to Xia Tian for getting out of the bed. "Who told you to get up again? You need rest."

"Doctor, I want to be discharged," Xia Tian firmly said to Doctor Li.

"No, you're not well. You can't be discharged." Doctor Li could not possibly allow Xia Tian to leave. Director Ceng had specifically requested Xia Tian to be treated, and he would be at a loss explaining to Director Ceng if Xia Tian were to leave.

"I will be discharged. Are you putting me under house arrest?" Xia Tian took tiny paces towards the door. Since he was injured, he dared not make any drastic movements.

"I don't mean it that way. You're still recovering, you might regret it later in life if it worsens," Doctor Li quickly explained.

"I know my body best. Although my wounds haven't healed completely, it's getting better. I can just rest at home for a few days." Xia Tian wanted to return to his studies. This X-ray vision of his threw him off as well. He needed to go home to look into it.

Xia Tian's adamant attitude left Doctor Li to hesitate for a moment. This was the hospital so nothing could keep Xia Tian from leaving.

"Alright then. Please wait, let me give Director Ceng a call," Doctor Li whipped out his phone, just as the door to Xia Tian's room was pushed open. A beautiful lady walked right in.

Dear Readers,

As everyone is aware, we're currently releasing two translated novels per week. Due to our translation budget, we can only publish approximately 104 translated novels per year. However, in our bank of over a million Chinese novels, there are a large number of hidden gems of translated novels that haven't been selected. As a result, we plan to release the 'Trial Read System' to publish more Chinese translated novels for everyone with our limited budget.

Here are the specifics:

Webnovel will be launching this new system where 60 chapters of a novel will be translated, like a teaser, of which chapters 1~39 will be free to read whilst the rest up to chapter 60 will be paid. We will review the date of these novels within a 1 month cycle, and hopefully shorter in the future, and with the results, we will decide whether the novel will continue to be translated or continue being observed for further results.

As for selected novels, we will do our best to reinstate their translations within a month. All locked chapters won't be affected by this. If there is no way we can continue translating a novel, all coins and fast pass spent in unlocking the chapters for this novel shall we returned to the reader within a month whilst the chapters for that book remains unlocked.

Regrettably, although the Trial Read System can help us provide even more novels for everyone, it will inevitably mean that even more novels will be discontinued. If everyone wishes for their favourite translated novels to continue, please subscribe to chapters and support the novels that you love.

If you have a better suggestion and/or advice regarding our 'Trial Read System' or anything else regarding our current methods, please do share! We welcome all your valued suggestions! We will strive to continue optimising and developing the Trial Read translations for your pleasure!

Many thanks,

Webnovel

Coins and Fast Pass for unlocking books that haven't been selected in this issue will be returned to your account by February 15, 23:59 (GMT+8).
