28 At the Party

Ana jerked around in surprise when she saw grandma Li standing just a few feet away because she hadn't expected her sudden appearance.

Grandma Li's approach made her face paler, as if each of Grandma Li's steps would drag her to hell. Her body froze like a statue, resigning herself to whatever the old woman said or did to her.

Danish could be seen from a distance also freezing in place, his gaze fixed on Ana, as if worried that his. grandma would devour his loved one. Luna's heart shattered as a result of that sight.

It was she he was going to marry, but his eyes clearly betrayed her. Why was it so difficult to accept the denials? Luna expressed her displeasure with herself.

Luna worked hard to keep the tears in her eyes from running down her cheek.

"It's not his fault that he treats you this way, Luna. It is entirely your decision, and you must bear the consequences." Luna repeated that reminder in order to fortify herself.

"What brings you here, Miss Ana Wang?" Grandma Li's question indicated that she had not anticipated her presence. Before Ana could say anything, a voice echoed across the room, drawing everyone's attention.

"Mom, I invited her. She is my special guest." Sandra, who had just arrived from the crowds, stated. She gracefully directed Ana to follow her. "You look stunning in your gown. You are the party's queen." Sandra whispered, but her loud voice could be heard by Luna who could only lower her gaze in embarrassment.

"Don't ruin this event, Sandra!" Grandmother Li forewarned her own daughter. In the next split second, she turned to face the guests.

"I apologize for the minor commotion. It's just...an intruder entered without permission." After hearing Grandma Li's harsh remark, Ana yanked in aghast and dropped her gaze to the floor as she walked alongside Sandra.

Sandra's cynical gaze was drawn to Luna rather than her mother when she heard her mother's announcement. Through her bawl eyes, she clearly expressed her dislike for Luna.

"Luna, how did that girl get away with wearing the same gown as you?" Luna's mother, unable to contain her curiosity, inquired of her daughter, who appeared agitated by Ana's arrival.

"I have no idea where she got the gown. Grandma Li told me that this gown was specially designed for me by Lylyana Wu.'

"It appears that someone is attempting to sabotage your event."

"Don't be concerned, Mom. I believe. Grandma Li must have planned for everything."

"I hope that girl's presence does not disrupt your big event." Luna's mother muttered as she watched Ana, who had strayed away with Sandra by her side. "What is your name?" Is that A-na?"

"Ana Wang," she says.

"How does she feel about the Li family?" Her mother's brow furrowed in interest.

"She is Danish's female companion."

"W-what?"

Everyone's attention was diverted by Grandma Li's voice. It was time for the main event, the Luna engagement moment. That old lady called her and Danish to the stage.

Luna walked through the aisle toward the altar on stage with. her heavy heart. Danish was following her, escorting her to where grandma Li was waiting.

Luna didn't dare to look over her shoulder at Danish. Her heart beat faster than usual, as if it weighed her down. The guests' stares made her steps even more difficult. But she had to keep going, even if it took her a decade to reach the altar.

"Luna...this way," she could only exhale relief when grandma Li extended her hand to lead her to her place. "Danish… take a position alongside Luna, "Grandma Li told her grandson to be on Luna's side.

Grandma Li announced their engagement with grace and confidence, and in the next second, Luna and Danish exchanged rings. The room erupted with hand claps. Except for Ana and Sandra, everyone was overcome with joy. Luna noticed that the man next to her had changed his expression. Luna noticed the sadness in his forced smile. His eyes revealed his true emotions.

"Danish...I'm sorry," Luna said quietly in her heart.

***

Luna wiped her dripping wet hands with a tissue. She escaped in the restroom from the hilarity because the party hadn't ended yet. She was bored after spending too much time there. Luna hadn't gotten used to rich people's parties because she had never been exposed to them. She simply didn't feel comfortable standing among the crowds, let alone with her current status. Due to her status as a member of the Li Family, the guests became interested in conversing and mingling with her. Having chats with people who didn't like her for who she was would be boring.

"How are you going to wear this gown?"

"Lilyana Wu designed it especially for me."

"How can you be so certain that what you're wearing is the original?"

"It should have been me who asked you that question, Ana." I stood firm in my assertion.

"You...how dare you challenge me? You are aware of who I am, aren't you? I am the only Danish girl in the world." She was becoming agitated.

"Just wait and see how strong his feelings for you are. The wedding is quickly approaching. When the time comes, I will fight for and defend everything that belongs to me, including Danish." I took a step away from her.

"Luna….Luna…" My stride down the corridor toward the ballroom was unaffected by her yell.

As soon as Luna joined the others in the room, she went to Danish with the sole purpose of provoking Ana, who had just entered. Luna was well aware that the girl was hiding her jealousy behind a fake grin.

Ana and Sandra spent time together, drinking and enjoying their company to demonstrate to everyone that the engagement had no effect on their happiness. They seemed to have planned something.

Luna was not intimidated by their close relationship. She cherished every moment with her family and grandma Li, drowning herself in cheerfulness and laughter with the other guests.

They raised their glasses and cheered. Some of them danced on the floor, while others sang with the band. Luna sat in the far corner.

She pretended to be fine, but her heart couldn't take it. Her enxiaty was visible on her face. After all, this engagement would bring her to the wedding day.

"Jie Jie… It's time to go home. You're not going to stay here forever, are you?" Her sister made fun of her. She stood up with a smile.

The car had waited outside for them all. Ana was in the same car as her mother, sister, and cousin, while Danish drove his own car, accompanied by Grandma Li.

Luna and her family arrived at Grandma Li's house on time. Grandma Li and Danish, on the other hand, did not return for another three hours.

Luna, who had been sitting on the sofa in fear, was interrupted by a phone call.

"Hello … This is a hospital call. Mr Danish Li and Mrs Li Yu Wei just got an accident. They are in a critical condition right now."
